I thought it was about time that the new children's hospital had a Yelp listing of its own. Part of…read morethe Queen Elizabeth Campus but with its own seperate entrance and inpatient areas this is the new Yorkhill as everyone calls it. When entering you are immediately overwhelmed by 2 things depending on the time of day. Its either light airy and peaceful or complete bedlam. That is because it was decided to make the main outpatients dept in the central atrium as its know. At night you will also find the Glasgow out of hours service located here which I dont feel is right to have it right in the middle of a childrens hospital. There is a small aroma coffee shop just inside the main entrance but that is all you will find here food wise apart from a few vending machines. The main canteen and other food outlets and shops are located over in the adult hospital. There is a link corridor that you can access the adult side without having to go outside. Whilst this is a lovely shiny and bright hospital I personally feel that it does not have the same feeling and personality as the old yorkhill.

The attitude of the canteen staff was disgusting she was spoken to in a hostile manner as she asked what size of cup the coffee came in and left the canteen in tears. I hate to think of somebody with a child that is dying going into that canteen and being spoken to like that. The hospital is fine but they should be more selective about the people employed in the canteen. Elizabeth Murphy

This time, I was sent to Victoria Hospital. It was fairly easy to get to, with both train and bus stops near by. I took the bus to get here and it was an easy hop off and back on kind of stop right near the hospital. Walking up, I'm not sure if it was the day or what, but it's very peaceful in the area, I even mentioned it to my guy when walking up. There is a nice little sculpture garden which just adds to the niceness of the place. The building is quite new (not sure how new) but some of the hospitals I've been in around here are surely much older than this one. The entrance is quite open and bright and there is a wee cafe just to the left where patients and visitors alike can enjoy a cuppa. There are signs posted everywhere, so it's quite easy to find where you're going, even though I did get lost coming out, but I was eventually guided to where I needed to go. The staff are friendly and I was in and out with not too much of a wait. I'm always early anyway, so I expect to wait a tiny bit either way. I'm not a huge fan of hospitals (who is anyway), but this one is quite nice.

Only waited about 15 minutes and was taken back for the procedure. The nurse practitioner and her staff were great. I opted for the sedation because I'm kind of whimpy. Easy procedure. Felt well cared for and looked after. Only downside is parking is very tight and the underground car park is hard to navigate. Otherwise A+ service.

The Doctors at this Medical Practice are very nice indeed and are very experienced and make sure…read morethat you get the best treatment applicable to your condition or conditions. However, what lets this Practice down is the reception and administration staff. It is truly unbelievable how many times they get things wrong - whether it's your prescriptions or just taking a simple message to be given to the Doctor. I have found that the 2 female receptionists are far better than the 2 male non-equivalents - who consistently muck up everything to do with providing my weekly medications - you ask for one thing but they give you something that you haven't asked for - or miss it out completely. Just today, when the chemists' delivery man dropped off my usual meds there were THREE items missing from the weekly box of tablets - the weekly amount of medicines that I get doesn't change from week to week but the receptionists at this Surgery consistently get it wrong - so I have had to do a lot of phoning around in order to get to the bottom of yet another mess. Given that I am seriously ill with many conditions, you readers will understand that I do not have the energy to be chasing up the receptionists at my Doctors' surgery all of the time - the amount of stress and distress that it causes me is getting close to off-the-scale and I feel like screaming at them and really telling them exactly what I think of them - but I would probably be put off the practice list and would have to find another doctor. So, if anyone else has had similar experiences with this Practice, please feel free to vent your frustrations here.
