This time, I was sent to Victoria Hospital. It was fairly easy to get to, with both train and bus stops near by. I took the bus to get here and it was an easy hop off and back on kind of stop right near the hospital. Walking up, I'm not sure if it was the day or what, but it's very peaceful in the area, I even mentioned it to my guy when walking up. There is a nice little sculpture garden which just adds to the niceness of the place. The building is quite new (not sure how new) but some of the hospitals I've been in around here are surely much older than this one. The entrance is quite open and bright and there is a wee cafe just to the left where patients and visitors alike can enjoy a cuppa. There are signs posted everywhere, so it's quite easy to find where you're going, even though I did get lost coming out, but I was eventually guided to where I needed to go. The staff are friendly and I was in and out with not too much of a wait. I'm always early anyway, so I expect to wait a tiny bit either way. I'm not a huge fan of hospitals (who is anyway), but this one is quite nice.

Only waited about 15 minutes and was taken back for the procedure. The nurse practitioner and her staff were great. I opted for the sedation because I'm kind of whimpy. Easy procedure. Felt well cared for and looked after. Only downside is parking is very tight and the underground car park is hard to navigate. Otherwise A+ service.

There was shops, newsagent, cafes, restaurant and not what l was expecting well this was my first visit here. Transport Great transport links to the hospital, buses can pick you up or drop you off at the main entrance and take you back to the city centre. There is also a bike rail at the entrance. Facilities I wasn't expecting a marks & spencer to be there but it was along with a WH smith with several coffee shops and a canteen upstairs. I used the upstairs canteen and had breakfast, my only advice is keep your money and treat yourself to something in town as they use the cheapest of ingredients. Cleanliness Only after my appointment l went to the cafe that was on the same floor and was quite surprised at how filthy the seating area was, if someone used a table there was no one to clean it afterwards. On walking to the escalator l couldn't help notice that the floor needed a good clean & a vacuum around the edges, even the seating on the cafe was in need of a good wash. The hospital staff where great you couldn't meet a nicer bunch, canteen staff where the opposite.

So expensive to park here in the multistory. £1.60 per hour is a shocking amount to charge someone who may be here for several hours. The general layout - not much can be done given the age of the place but it is a rabbit warren with so many clinics and wards hidden out of reach. Unfortunetly I have had appointments not followed up correctly here on more than one occasion which is frustrating howver I now want to move onto the positives. More recently I have had to attend for appointments and procudures and the nursing staff have been AMAZING!! Nurses often get bad reviews in the press but i cant thank the ones I have met recently enough. They have made so far what has been a stressful and upsetting time that little bit easier. Well done guys!

I was sitting and felt this sharp, shooting pain up the left side of my face and i immediately knew what it was: one of my stitches had become loose and we were ready to part ways. And my surgeon has always told me not to suffer this pain, but to call immediately and one of my three surgeons will take the stitch out. So that's exactly what I did and true to their word, within an hour I was at the hospital waiting to get my stitch taken out. Even down to the receptionist, everyone knows me and knew why I was there. As I visit so often, I've become somewhat of a regular and let's be honest, everyone knows I'd rather not be there. But they are all so friendly and take a few minutes to chat, it just makes me feel a little better. I waited for about 30 mins and then my surgeon seen me and within seconds, the stitch was out my eye. The relief is incredible, it's the best feeling in the world. All it took was a needle, a pair of tweezers and me being told where to look and NOT TO MOVE! Having had 17 stitches in my left eye, I'm down to the final few and unlike other stitches, they decide when they are taken out. But I've never been left to suffer and whether on a weekday or weekend, one of my surgeons has been there to take my stitch out. Incredible service. I honestly couldn't be happier right now.

Right, who the hell designed this place?…read more I've not seen as many confused looking people in one place since evolution was taught in my high school in Paisley (who you callin' a monkey!). Now I'm pretty sure it's not just me, but the design of this place is just wrong in so many ways. I'm not gonna bore you with any of the details, but it's suffice to say that on you're visit here you'll turn around at some point and realise that you should infact be going the other way... and be two floors down. Oh and another thing. Bank machine please? I think they might (might have one in the shop on the main floor, but when that shuts?) Oh and another thing. Food people! This hospital, or certainly the section I was in, is a maternity hospital, so will at times play host to a bunch of hungry dads to be. With the canteen shutting on weekends (wtf? Babeis don't do weekends??) this means that any hungry dad with need to remain just that... hungry! It's three star, but barely. I may well update when the babe arrives!

I was told repeatedly that I couldn't possibly be in labour as it hadn't been long enough, given pethedine without being checked and as a consequence of that had a baby who wouldn't feed because he was too tired. I must give praise to the staff who eventually delivered my son. They were in the room within seconds of being called and worked quickly to avoid any long term damage to him. As a result he's a normal child despite having a very traumatic birth. On the post natal ward my baby was taken out of the crib and placed in an incubator without me being told anything and then when I visited the loo I came back to find him shoved up a random woman's jumper apparently they were trying to keep him warm! He was very sick and it was brushed off as just something babies do. I later found after a deal of upset and worry that he had gastric reflux and couldn't keep a thing down. My second visit was a whole lot more pleasant than the first. I had my baby at home and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance to deliver the placenta. The ward was full when I go therethankfullyand I was given a birthing room in the midwife led unit for the duration of my stay. To say these were chalk and cheese would be an understatement. The staff were considerate, helpful, kind I was kept informed of what was happening with my daughter and was given ample opportunity to sleep. Down to practicalities. The hospital is in the city of Glasgow. There is a car park on site but it gets very full around visiting time so hope you don't need the hospital then. It's a fairly new hospital and is clean enough and has bedside TV/telephone things. You have to buy a card to watch TV or make a phone call. Best bet is to use the card to watch TV and pop outside to use your mobile for telephone. The food is ok, there's plenty to eat and drink. If you use this hospital I would recommend the midwife led unit without a doubt. It's much more relaxed and you're more likely to have a pleasant experience.

Whilst it still has a very clinical feel to it - as a hospital should - it's considerably less oppressive for people who aren't big fans of the hospital environment. The ground floor hosts the day surgery, information desk and other public areas such as the cafe and toilets. The majority of the clinics are on the upper floors and are accessible by lift or stairs. The staff on the information desk are always friendly and very quick to answer any queries, which is comforting in this sort of environment. Stobhill also houses the local Minor Injuries and Out Of Hours clinics, which are accessed from a separate entrance round the side of the building. One of the big issues regarding Stobhill is the lack of parking. There are three car parks - one at the main entrance, one across the road and one slightly further down the hill - and they are pretty much always jam packed any time after 10am. I'd usually recommend arriving in plenty of time in order to get a space!
