During my appointment, I found Dr. Garside's demeanor to be rude, condescending, and dismissive. At one point during the physical examination, I involuntarily cried out in pain and was chastised with the statement, "There is no need to yell."
I was also told that because my X-ray showed no abnormalities, the level of pain I reported was unjustified and inconsistent with ligament or cartilage injury. This assessment was particularly concerning given that I am currently unable to bear weight and demonstrated gapping on valgus stress testing, findings that are clinically consistent with significant medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury.
I found this interaction troubling. The dismissal of my symptoms, combined with the lack of compassion and the condescending manner in which my concerns were addressed, fell well below what I expect from a treating clinician. As a result, I do not feel comfortable continuing care under Dr. Garside and consider his conduct during this visit unacceptable.
I would like to note that all other staff at TOA were kind, professional, and respectful. I would be willing to continue my care with another knee specialist within the group. read more
