We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 4:00pm). The tasting room is elegant but tastings are being done outside. Their outside area is grand; well spaced with a mix of tables and picnic table seating. Our hostess was fantastic; detailed, knowledgeable and funny. Her descriptions of the wines were spot on. Tasting flights are $10.00 non-refundable per person. Never seen this before from a winery as most will waive the fee when you buy a bottle. Not here. Our group was given 5 wines to try. Bottles are in the $17.31 to $39.05 (before taxes) price range. - Charmat method sparkling - dry sparking wine. Slight bubbly and not too dry. - 2017 Pinot grigio - stonefruit, fresh and crisp. Found this one quite sweet but J liked this one the most and bought a bottle ($17.31). - 2018 Ortega - floral, aromatic and smooth. - 2017 Blanc de noir - textural, creamy and long. This was N's and our favourite; we each bought a bottle ($23.40). - 2018 Whole cluster pinot noir - we were told this red was about 6 months from reaching its peak. Right on the money. Good mouth feel but the finish was a touch acidic. Worth a visit to KW while you're in Salt Spring.

We dropped in on a Monday (around noon) and only waited a few minutes to be welcomed in for a tasting. Their grounds are quaint and serene with a couple of picnic tables set up to enjoy the view. It's BYOP (bring your own picnic). Tastings are $5.00 per person (for four tasters) and strangely, we were told that only one tasting fee would be waived if bottles were purchased. At least we were able to try both dessert wines (doable if you share pours). Bottles range from $24.00 to $40.00 (including taxes). - Charm - prosecco-style bubbly. - 2019 rose - pinot noir. This was light and very summery. - 2018 Millotage - foch, leon millot and cabernet libre. Interesting that she recommended this one be drank with tomatoes. - 2019 Apple pie - we all enjoyed how this dessert wine wasn't overly sweet. - Blackberry dessert wine - the blackberry was the winner of the five wines we tried. Very berry forward. N bought a bottle ($24.00) for home. SSV wasn't our favourite winery on the island but it's an option if you want to check out the alternatives.

We sent the kids down to the pond to watch the ducks, while we chatted up the owner as she worked us through a few of the wines that weren't sold out. Two whites, a red, and a blackberry dessert wine. All the wines tasted a tad young, but okay for the price. The dessert wine though, was jammy and sweet and full of personality. We ended up only getting two bottles of this. No other wines in hand, we walked to the picnic area and enjoyed a great little BYOP (bring your own picnic) by their beautifully landscaped pond area, and moved on. Come for the experience more than for the wines. But still, come and enjoy!

You can choose between a sparkling flight or red flight from their sister location in the Okanagan. I ordered the bison burger with fries, and while the burger was solid, the fries were standout--crispy, golden perfection! The views from the deck overlooking the vineyards make it an ideal place to linger over a glass (or two)! A great addition to a day spent touring the Butchart and the Butterfly Gardens :)

Walked in and place was dead (yet asked if we had reservations - which we did). We were sat at the bar and mentioned that we'd have about an hour ish time and was told, "no worries we hold an hour slot but tasting is only 45 minutes." That was a statement that felt like we'd be rushed and it's exactly what happened; we started off with bubbles, which one was completely flat (unsure how long the bottle was open or any of the others since it's off season) but within minutes the server was like "what would you try next"- and kept pouring our next taste within minutes without giving us time to even finish our initial glass of bubbles. You could tell the server did not want to be at work, yet tried to be friendly and when asked where the winery name came from, I got the response "I don't remember and if I don't, then the story much not be memorable"
