My experience at Dr. Djeu's office was more than amazing! I did the aligners program and got quotes from 3 different businesses prior to deciding. Dr. Djeu was the most fair, transparent, knowledgeable, and truly cared about giving me a great smile in the most efficient and safe way. He was detail oriented, never made me feel rushed, and even had trays remade for me halfway through at no extra cost because he wanted my smile to be absolutely perfect. At the end of treatment, Dr. Djeu chose a retainer that best fit my needs and again didn't change any of the treatment costs even though I needed a more specialized product. His staff was always respectful and on top of my care. They verified all insurance codes prior to my treatment to ensure I did not have any surprises. They even gave me a refund due to insurance covering more than they anticipated- I've never had a medical/orthodontic office give me money back! I have been seeing a dentist in Fairfax for years but recently moved, so I tried a new dentist near my workplace in Tysons Corner. In my first visit for the cleaning, this new dentist recommended Invisalign, saying that my bite would cause wear and tear on my teeth in the long run. This was obviously really pricey - and oddly, my old dentist had never said a thing about this in the past. So I've started going back to my old dentist, and asked her for her recommendation given what the prior dentist said. She wasn't sure and referred me to Dr. Djeu for a consultation. Within a small nondescript office building in Fairfax is Dr. Djeu's office. I needed a consultation as to how my teeth were coming together (underbite was impacting my teeth) and how it would impact the wear and tear on my teeth in the long run. I was glad because, against what was probably his own financial best interest, Dr. Djeu gave me a thorough examination during an initial consultation and basically said that if I wanted, I could get orthodontia, but that had some considerable drawbacks as well. He helped me arrive at a logical conclusion and consulted with my dentist in followup to make sure that we were aligned on our direction (to continue to monitor but not necessarily do anything else). Based on this, I believe Dr. Djeu to be an honest practitioner and I am deeply appreciative. As mentioned by others, he is also very personable, and based on his accolades and education I believe him to likely be a very high quality practitioner. I wanted to submit an update to my previous review -- Dr.Djeu had me back in the office and was able to fit me for a new set of retainers. Instead of the plastic/metal "Hawley" retainers, this time I got the clear kind that are sort of like a mouth guard. They fit perfectly on the first try, so no need to go back and forth to the office a bunch of times for the right fit. I appreciate him taking the time to rectify the situation. Donna and I are so glad we chose Dr. Djeu as our son's orthodontist. Our dental insurance allowed almost any doctor, and we researched, visited, and asked a lot of questions. Dr. Djeu is building a highly competent and friendly medical practice: his staff is superb, and we equate them to the highly reputable doctors and staff of Dr. Davis (pediatric dentist in McLean, VA), Dr. Papastergiou (adult dentist in Vienna, VA), and Dr. Bonnaci (MD DDS oral surgeon in Vienna, VA). We set the bar very high for our son's dental and orthodontics treatment because he had many teeth for a small mouth. With dental work at Dr. Davis' office and consultation with Dr. Djeu, it became obvious Dr. Djeu was more able to handle our son's needs -- and there was zero "after-taste" per se of a "business aspect" at his office. More importantly, our son needed an extra few months with orthodontics -- Dr. Djeu and staff showed no pressure or wrangling of time with our son's needs. Dr. Djeu was a true professional who cared about our son's teeth without any concern about extra time or inconvenience in his practice. We recommend Dr. Djeu, and we hope families understand Dr. Djeu's rates that do not change with any extra time needed for orthodontics work. We speak with other families with ortho needs and hear of fee-wrangling and grief they experience from other orthodontics in the McLean, Vienna, and City of Fairfax areas. I thoroughly researched several locations in Fairfax, all of which have high reviews, before deciding to go with Dr. Djeu. He is BY FAR THE BEST and here's why! The first ortho location I consulted at shares office space with where I take my children for dental care. It's a spacious office that is part of a corporate-run chain of dental/ortho practices throughout a few states. They have modern equipment and marketing that appeals to kids/parents, BUT there is a constant turnover of staff since being a part of a corporate-run business chain means their employees are all about meeting the numbers and promoting up and perhaps out to another location. The dental/ortho doctors there were great, but the staff often messed up billing or scheduling, which was a nightmare, and it felt more like they were rushing in as many patients as possible. You also could never reach the doctor personally with a medical or billing question since he was bouncing from patient to patient as fast as he could, and he had the corporate headquarters in another state answer billing questions since neither he nor his staff knew the answers. They often did not pick up the phone too. The second place I consulted at was smaller given it was a solo practitioner that did only ortho, unlike the first place that did both dental and ortho. It had a nice doctor and staff, and you did not feel like you were just a number being rushed through. However, the equipment and office seemed old and dated. Finally, I did a consult at Dr. Djeu's and knew he was the right ortho for my entire family. Not only is he a Harvard graduate, but his office as a solo practitioner is very modern with the newest equipment, and his staff are the nicest people ever!! Someone always picks up the phone and they get you in quick for any issues that arise and genuinely care about you. His assistants always remember my kids and the events going on in their life. One time, an assistant overheard me on the phone with my husband as they worked on my son, saying that we needed cardboard boxes for my son to finish his science project, and she went to the storage room to bring back several cardboard boxes for me. Each of his assistants have been with him for a long time and they are consistently professional, kind, and caring. As for Dr. Djeu, he is exceptionally skilled and has a very easy going and gracious personality, which is great for young kids, who may be nervous about the process of having braces, which involves installing, gluing, and tweaking metal hardware on their little teeth. My son once bit down on Dr. Djeu's finger while they were putting his expander on his upper palate, and Dr. Djeu just chuckled and told my son what was going on (I actually stood up to tell my son "stop biting the doctor's finger"). A few weeks after that expander was securely in place, it fell off while we were having a late dinner since my son had an ectopic molar that made it a bit challenging to hold the expander in place. I left a message on the after-hours number, and he promptly called me and had us bring in my son right away at 8:30pm at night, whereby he made a special trip into the office just to help my son's situation. Finally, anytime there is a medical or billing question, Dr. Djeu himself can often answer it right away or he will have his assistants provide you with a prompt resolution. Dr. Djeu's office is immaculately clean and nicely decorated with a contemporary yet tranquil atmosphere. He is a very genuine person and he always has a smile on his face! I didnt feel like I was treated any differently although I was a full grown adult, and he is very helpful. Compared to several other ortho consults we received, we decided to send our 10-year old to Dr. Djeu for phase 1 orthodontia to fix some severe problems with both baby and adult teeth alignment. I recently read a negative review regarding Dr. Djeu and I feel compelled to disagree with all of the criticism that was put forth in that review. I have two children who received orthodontic care from Dr Djeu and both had good results. One of the kids had a prior full orthodontic treatment, with unsatisfactory outcome, from a different Orthodontist in Maryland. I could make unflattering remarks about the other Orthodontist, but not about Dr Djeu. Under Dr Djeu's care, the earlier unsatisfactory outcome was rectified. As for the conduct of Dr Djeu's office staff, I would also disagree with the other reviewer. I would characterize all of the members of his staff as professional and courteous. read more

I can't recommend Dr. Djeu enough! A few years ago, I finally decided to have my teeth straightened (never had braces as a kid). Dr. Djeu took his time and explained the pros and cons of each treatment option to make sure we chose the best option for me personally. There was no salesmanship or pressure to choose any particular option (i.e., no steering towards the more expensive options...) During the course of my treatments it became more and more clear as to what type of health care provider Dr. Djeu embodies. He is one of those increasingly rare health care providers who is more interested in ensuring that his patients receive the right care, instead of treating them as a part of an assembly line. My family first went to Dr. Djeu's office several years ago. Why did we decide to stay with this practice versus the many other practices in Northern Virginia? Basically, the practice feels like a "boutique shop." Unlike the larger practices in the area, the Djeu practice has an intimate feel: Dr. Djeu knows each of his patients by name and provides unhurried care and plenty of personal attention. I had traditional braces when I was a child and received them again as an adult by another orthodontist. Unfortunately, both of those times left me with slightly crooked teeth so I wanted to have them fixed again. I heard wonderful reviews by friends about Dr. Djeu so I decided to see him about getting Invisalign. Upon our first meeting, he assured me that the Invisalign would fix the teeth and that I would probably only have to wear them for 6 months. The entire process was very easy and as promised, my teeth were completely straight within 6 months. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Dr. Djeu and his entire staff that I brought my older son to get his braces. I highly recommend Dr. Djeu in Fairfax, who did the braces for my son. We switched from our previous orthodontist to Dr. Djeu after 3.5 years of treatment. Part of the reason was relocation, but mostly it was due to the uncertainty of outcome and how long the treatment would eventually take. Dr. Djeu did his treatment and finished in 24 mo, on schedule.
