READ THIS before ever going there. I am not one to usually write a review but I genuinely think people need to see this before ever going to this shop, and I apologize this is a long one but will be informative. To start, I called the shop to ask if they sold Seiko watches and Garo answers the phone and just says "No" in an extremely rude tone and hangs up on me. So ok, I try to give him the benefit of the doubt and just go in person and see what they have. I walk into the store and he does not greet me or acknowledge me at all. (And he did in fact have many Seiko watches.) After about 15 minutes of browsing I finally just walk up and ask if he had a specific model I was looking for and he just says "No" again in a very rude tone and walks away. So I spot something that catches my eye and I ask him if I can see it. He hands me the watch without saying anything and I simply ask him "Is this new or pre-owned?" because it did not have any tag attached to it. He then grabs the watch off the table and raises his voice at me saying "Does it look like I sell pre-owned watches here?! I only sell new!" At this point I should have left but the watch looked interesting to me so I went ahead with the purchase. Being that I took his word about it being new I expected him to have the original box and packaging so I asked him if he had the original box for it and he goes and grabs a seiko box and puts it in there and I leave. Once I get home I am feeling weird about the whole interaction so I take it out of the box to inspect it and realize it has small wear marks and scratches around the case of the watch and a scratch on the crystal that I did not notice until I brought it home. Out of curiosity I decide to do some research about the watch and see what model it is so I look at the label on the box to find the model number and look it up. The model that came up was something completely different so that confirms the packaging is wrong. I then look at the case back to find the serial number and see that the serial number is missing. I then start doing more research online to see if I can find the model online. It tells me the watch is a Seiko 5 produced between the years of 1996-2006 and the movement serial number confirms this. It also shows me a ton of listings of people selling these used under vintage 90s watches. So at that point I can absolutely confirm that the watch is not new and is at least 20 years old if not 30 years old. The next morning I decide to go get a refund because I am feeling lied to and I am not happy with the scratches on the watch. I walk in this time with my wife and say hi and ask politely if I could refund the watch. He AGAIN starts yelling at me and saying that he does not do refunds and will not be giving me my money back. Normally I understand no refund policies and those are perfectly fine if the person just has buyers remorse they can't just simply return the item, however this was a complete misrepresentation of what he sold me and he still refused to return my money. So I keep politely trying to explain that the watch was misrepresented as new and has to be a minimum of 20 years old and has scratches all over and he continues to yell at me saying he will not give me my money back. THIS is where he really made me upset. After a few minutes of trying to reason with him as he's yelling at me, my wife tries to speak to ask him to please just refund the watch and he then yells at her very aggressively "YOU DON'T SPEAK! I AM SPEAKING TO HIM!" and he continues to yell at me. At this point I am furious that he spoke to my wife that way and I tell him, that he can yell at me all that he wants but that I will not stand for him yelling or speaking to my wife that way. He continued yelling at us both saying he wasn't going to return my money and that we could keep talking but he was not going listen to us. At this point we just excused ourselves knowing this was going nowhere, so I did not get my refund for this 20 year old or older watch and I am now stuck with it and feel lied to and tricked. read more

*** BEWARE BATTERY REPLACEMENT *** Called to get a price on battery replacement on two Movado watches. I was told to come in that prices start at $8. I came to the store, person in front of me also needed a battery replacement. His cost $15. When it was my turn, I showed him my watches and I heard $15. He completed both battery replacements in less than 5 minutes. He then proceeds to tell me it's $50. I was in shock. I used to pay $6 to $8 4 years ago. He said it's because it's a Movado watch and they charge up to $60. The place I regularly go to wasn't open yet and I'm going out of town. $25 for a battery replacement is ridiculous. BEWARE! Dropped off my citizen eco drive for a band lock pin replacement on 12/20/20, kid tells me it's going to be around $5/10, but the guy who does the repairs would get back to me(never heard back from him) come by a few days later-closed, called 2 times leaving vm-no response. Finally just went in today today 1/16/21. Gave them my ticket they say $25 I was like whoa wait why that much you said $5/$10 then the old man starts it's custom pin and we had to make the lock pin which from the look on his face was totally BS, i asked why didn't he call Me first to get approval prior that why I can make a decision or be prepared to pay that much. I tell him that I've been coming for years and it's alway been $5/10 he's then began to get irate and raised his voice. We go back and forth and on the end he charges me $15. As I inspect his work the pin was sticking out and point that out which he doesn't like he again tells me "what do you want" throwing his hands in the air, I tell him hey you should take care of your clients and I point out he's closed when I came by, not returning voice messages and how long he's had the the watch from 12/20/20-1/16/21, and if me not coming back he would had it longer. He began to tell me things I could not understand and I take my watch and tell him I'm never coming back, as I walk away he babbles and I hear him to me to my back "f&ck off"", I turned around and ask him what he said the kid tells me something else I just walk out! Been a client to this guy for over 30years and all the time he been a haggler which I don't mind but to to tell me to "F" off and keeping my watch that long, poor work and lack of customer service don't recommend him and let me know the cost before hand-from $5-$25 that's a 250% mark up geez! Yelped watch battery places on a Sunday afternoon after I had a little time to spare as weekends are the only time I can get some errands done. Just started wearing watches again a month ago. I had two from 3-4 years back that died, and I never bothered to get new batteries or get a new watch. Happened to be in Commerce, and Garo's was #2 on the list. Sometimes the business hours on here are not accurate, so I made a call first. #1 was voicemail, and #2 answered to my surprise! The old man that picked up was very nice, he said he'll be there until 3pm (it was about 12:20). Confirmed the address, and he was still trying to give me directions. Anyway, the place wasn't hard to find. I got there, and here is this old man greeting me. I asked how much for new batteries. Quote was $15 for both. One of the watches was brand new with plastic film still on, so he let me try and basically eyeballed the size as too big. The quote was $8 to resize, and I said okay. Everything was done in 5 minutes or less. Hot dog, that was fast! Didn't even have a chance to look at any of the watches on display, and he had quite a bit. Prior to coming here, ashamed to say I didn't even do any research on what a battery replacement would cost. But Garo's very warm demeanor and humility just felt right, like he could be trusted and wasn't pulling my leg. He was not pushy at all, very patient. The man seems very passionate about his trade. As soon as I got home, I looked up watch repairs, and most of the online data range between $5- $15 per. I think I did good at $7.50 a piece.
