The covered pavilion has picnic benches and is located between the playgrounds and the splash pad which gives you the best view of the entire park while your kids run around. The jewel of this park is the splash pad. I recommend bringing chairs and blankets to sit on as there are not any right near this area. The bathrooms are located right next to this spot which is great for changing your kids in. I suggest wearing water shoes if your kids will be running in and out of here, there are many "stickers" all around. I hope the city continues to bring more to the East Side of Buda. There are communities here that have been ignored but are thriving!

Also, there are sand volleyball courts. The kids can play on the recycled parts made playground or splash around on the splash pad in the summer. The bathrooms are clean, and drinking water is available On this recent trip up to Buda we were audience to the a free summer show. The Central Texas Theater Academy put on a fantastic rendition of Grease in the amphitheater of the park's Great Lawn. Now I will remind you that it's still hot during the Texas summer, but as the sun broke and sunsetted, a breeze passes through, the park grounds become better than bearable and all sorts of life and activity congregate. The city park in Buda is a wonderful place to enjoy your end of day with family and friends. Recommend.

There were 20 races for the dachshunds. I must have seen about 200 dachshunds and 100 other breeds. So cute to watch. There were many vendors. I bought 5 new dachshund t shirts. They had a great cookie vendor as well. There were three different cook offs- chicken , ribs, and brisket. We were bussed from Cabella's. The buses came really often so we didn't wait long. This was a fantastic weekend. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make it run smoothly. I will be back next year to watch!

It has well established walking trails, some have pretty good shade because of the surrounding trees another area is more of an open park with more of the feel of a school track. Both are nice. There were a few people when we arrived early and as the morning drew on more people arrived. But the area is so expansive it never felt crowded. It was a very pleasant morning on this trail. I'm hoping to come back on a consistent basis to walk here as an addition to my normal workouts.

He couldn't stop sliding the slide, and was jumping in excitement, so that's a win for us. I personally was FREEZING, like the floors are so cold, and you must be wearing socks, but next time (well, doubt there will be a next time) I would wear 3 pairs of socks to not be freezing. The infrastructure was fun, but the toys looked old. The parents were very respectful, it seemed pretty clean, we did not get sick like so many mentioned (but you go to a kid's indoor playground, you can't be mad about it honestly...) and the front lady was coming to clean after the kids, without being annoying. I wouldn't drive from Austin again to go there, but for $15, we spent some good energy!

The Onion Creek Metropolitan park is a 517-acre regional park located in Southeast Austin. It has…read morenature and groomed trails, pavilions, restroom, and open play fields. I came for a group trail run through the 250-acre Onion Creek Greenbelt. The park was clean and in great shape. There is a gravel loop around the park that is about 800 m. However, the draw for me was the nature trails in the park that are not too technical but offer a safe introduction to trail running. The trail was about 4 miles long and is fairly flat with a few steep areas. It was a great place to explore the trails whether hiking or running and connect with nature.

Despite being marked as a branch of the trail it was extremely overgrown with bugs everywhere. The mosquitoes were relentless and the walk was just a nightmare with all the brush we had to walk through. Serrano's - Not a fan Chi Chinese Buffet - Vowed to never return Cartwrights Famous BBQ - food sucks at all un original locations Waterloo Icehouse - Boring I haven't been to Jason's Deli in years; maybe Haiku has something besides sushi? Obviously, the former concert venue no longer exists...well, certainly not to the extent it once did. Nope. Now it's a playground surrounded by mostly chain restaurants. And while this does kind of sadden me in a bittersweet "what happened to the good 'ole days?" sort of way, I can take solace in the fact that I'll be frequenting this spot much more than I would have otherwise. Because, as I mentioned in the first line, you can sit with a cold beer and watch the kids frolic. Or, sit with a cold beer and read a book while you ignore the kids. Or, spread out a blanket and lie on the grassy slope while drinking a cold beer. I do recommend glancing up every 5 minutes or so, though, to make sure the kids haven't been kidnapped. So, while I may have taken in two or three shows a year in the former incarnation, I'm likely to visit at least a couple times a month now. Sandwiches, wings, burgers, Mexican, Asian, coffee, ice cream, smoothies and sushi can all be had here. The selection is wide. I've tried three or four of the places, and will probably eventually review them all, since I do and will be frequenting this spot often. And as long as they have edible food and beer, they're all guaranteed a minimum of 3 stars. Cuz that's the way I roll. I gotta give props to the designers for keeping the music component alive, as there's a stage area just across from the playground. They had a summer concert series there last year, Southpark Before Dark, and I'm sure they'll do something similar this year. The playground itself is pretty large, and has plenty of fun diversions for the kids...but not quite the chaotic mess that is the playground at Barton Springs. Plenty of strategic spots from which you can keep an eye on the monkeys. They even pipe in decent (for the most part) music through speakers that surround the playground. And for the summertime, there are little water fountains around the stage area for kids to get wet and stay cool. Bottom line - if you live south of the river - or anywhere in the vicinity, really - and have kids, you should check this place out, because there's nothing comparable in BubbaLand.

Caves are so interesting and there is so much to learn about them . Longhorn Cavern offer 3 different tour options. The cavern walking tour is just like a casual walking tour. The black light tour is where you wear hard hats and walk with a light. The Wild Cave tour is for the extreme explorers who are okay with tight spaces . I chose the cavern walking tour. I highly recommend shoes that have a tight grip. The gift shop has really good options for keepsakes. Also, if you get thirst drinks are available to purchase. I saw a section for pizza, but it was sold out. I had amazing time during my visit. The cave is beautiful and there is so much to see.

I did a wild cave tour without the extra charges that Longhorn collects. At Longhorn, our guide, Johnson did an amazing job with our small group of six people for the 10:45 AM tour. My brother and I initially registered for the 11:00 AM tour and am glad that we were suggested another time. We passed by the 11:00 AM tour and they had 40+ people in their group. Johnson showed us cool geological formations. We saw dolomite, calcium bicarbonate, chert, limestone, geodes, stalagmites, stalactites, and quartz crystals. Johnson is somewhat funny; he had a bit of quirky and dry humor. I enjoyed the history of the caverns, but some of it I thought was interesting. It was really delightful to learn that in the 1800's, before the CCC got involved, the locals would dance and play music turning the cave into an auditorium of entertainment. Johnson said that if certain geological formations glows, it is growing. Very catchy phase for memory. I got to see a few bats hanging out. They were tricolor bats which are smallest bats. The cave is cool, but thankfully not slippery. I was wearing no grip support shoes, but I didn't fall or have the urge to fall. There are mats on the floor of the cave to prevent falls. Johnson gave us more time to look around and admire the geology. My brother and I weren't required to bring our own flashlights. Johnson had a flashlight, but forgot to grab the blacklights. What I find is strange is that this is a state park that you cannot renew your state park pass at. This park headquarters is very different than the rest considering that there's a third party company handing the cave tours, they sell ice-cees, popcorn, and the gift shop is very big and vast. The others don't have this. It is questionable to me. I was told that I needed to go to Inks Lake to renew my pass. The cave tours are very pricey. Kickapoo Caverns tour was very affordable at $10. You can use the park pass. You can't get your state park passport stamped at Longhorn Caverns either. It seems like Longhorn Caverns is more for profit and the history about the cavern could be overly exaggerated to attract customers. My opinion. It was hard to believe half of the things what Johnson was telling us. There's one portion of geological formation in the cave that is "dead" because in year 1919, the locals went exploring by touching the formation it "killed" it. I preferred Kickapoo Caverns and the Caverns of Sonora a lot more. Even Inner Space Caverns and Natural Bridge were very exciting to see. Longhorn is cool, but didn't give me that WOW-factor, but I still had a ton of fun on a Sunday morning.
