I have been getting my vehicles serviced by this small mechanical repair shop for sometime and was…read morepleasantly surprised by the quality of service each time. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they took the time to explain the issues with my vehicle in a way that I could understand. They were also very upfront about the cost of the repairs and didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary services. The repair work was completed accordingly and my cars always well taken care off, unless there was something else that was beyond repair and couldn't be fixed I was informed about it prior to any services being done. The shop is run by folks of Chinese heritage their might be the slightest communication challenge, but overall, Richard and his staff do a fantastic job at communicating. Overall, highly recommend this shop to anyone in need of mechanical repairs. Just call Ahead and inquire and book as they are often very busy. https://southauto.ca/ 587 349 3918

Hello, South Auto!!!!…read more This little auto shop is one of my best kept secrets - but I figured it's time yelp knows about it. This is a small, family owned auto shop that came recommended to me from a friend of a friend of a friend. The main guy Richard really knows his stuff about cars, and maybe more importantly in the auto business, is very genuine, honest, and focused. No upselling, no phantom problems, no crazy quotes. His prices are beyond reasonable, and he is extremely transparent throughout the whole process. They have convenient appointments and will really work with you to help you fix your problems. One of my cornering lights burned out once, and had I gone to the Mercedes dealership to fix it, it it would have cost me at least a hundred bucks or more. At South Auto, they special ordered the exact bulb, and he installed it for me on the spot. It was a quick thing, he said, so he charged me $15. $8 for the bulb, and $7 for labor. THAT IS UNHEARD OF. I was on the fence about doing my annual service at South Auto because I wondered if that's something that is worth doing at the dealership, but Richard was able to do it for 1/3 of the price, while still using the specified engine oil imported from Germany, etc. I'm sold! It's a small shop, so don't expect anything fancy. No plush leather chairs in the waiting room, no quartz counters with a friendly receptionist, no complimentary snacks, but man are the prices reasonable and the work top quality. The shop is run by folks of Chinese heritage so while there may be the slightest communication challenge, I've found all of them to be fluent in english especially when it came to cars.

Some charge crazy prices, some do shoddy work, and some don't even remember your name or your face. Then there's the Gigantelli brothers. Located right on 16th Ave, this quaint little auto shop is Calgary's best kept secret. I've had Joe and Tony work on my vehicle many times and man are they the epitome of honest and professional. I like the comment the AMA truck driver gave when I told him where I was bringing my car: "Oh yeah! Great guys! They're a dying breed. They really follow the motto that if you treat people right, they'll keep coming back." Amen brother! I've been constantly impressed by their incredible skills. Three different times, when other shops or mechanics couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car, Tony already had an idea of the problem, and sure enough, he was absolutely spot on. I know that when they fix my vehicle they do all their due diligence to make sure it is done right. My favourite part is that I'm not much of a car expert, but they're always happy to explain everything that happened and to give me some great advice. I always feel welcomed and valued there. I've even seen Joe offer a customer his own chair to a waiting customer. These guys treat me like family. They have the fairest prices I've personally experienced and they're sticklers for quality. Even when I've been stuck short notice or short on cash, they've always been super accommodating (more than I ever thought to expect from a mechanic). I recommend these fellows to everyone I meet, and often rave about the incredible way they always treat their customers. They are a class act and absolutely worth every penny. Usually mechanics have a bad reputation of being crooks, but these guys are proving the world wrong. Ten stars! :)

We called on a Saturday & Kevin said we could bring it in on Monday. I'm in Calgary visiting my granddaughter so the communications were done with my hubby on Vancouver Island. On Tuesday, Kevin called my hubby to say what would be needed and quoted us a price. This is a 2001 Subaru Legacy which we leave in Calgary to drive when we are visiting, it has been an exceptionally reliable car which hasn't really cost us anything in repairs. Although it may not make sense to spend that kind of money on a car this old it has keep it's value. Kevin had given us a couple of options so as not to spend so much right now but we had decided to go ahead & replace all the rack & pinion, instead of waiting for the other part to go on us. Kevin called to say the car was ready on Wednesday (I was leaving back to the island on Friday). Kevin was so conscientious showing us the broken old rack & pinion and his brother caught that there was a nail on my back tire - which they patched for us, did a wheel alignment & balanced the 4 wheels. All of these repairs were within the original quoted price. I would definitely recommend Economy Auto to anyone looking for honest, efficient and great work.

This repair job happened in the NW shop of Simplicity Car Care. My 2006 Honda CRV-SE had a…read morecollision last August 23. The repair required replacement of the following, passenger front fender, black textured bumper cover, fog lights, passenger side headlight and the aircon condenser needs replacement. The frame of the passenger headlight needs alignment as well as the passenger fender bracket. The repair was started Sept 15 and I picked up the car Sept 23. I paid $ 1,068 for the labor and materials but I supplied the original condenser, passenger Fender, fog lights and DOT stamped textured black bumper cover. Upon inspection at home I found the following defects: the repaired frame was not fully painted and showed chipped-off paint, The bumper support was not painted, there was a missing 10mm bolt on the fender that why it was rattling, the 2 fog light holes that were badly cut that the bumper cover was damaged, The spot welding that was supposed to be done on the headlight frame was neglected. The owner and staff of the NW branch refused to repair the vehicle according to the owner's manual specification and said that I should supply original parts. I supplied parts that are considered original as per T and T Honda based on the DOT stamp of approval. The bumper cover was also misaligned on the passenger side because the headlight frame was off. I asked for a 2nd repair job last Nov 23 and was granted to bring the car back but they will not replace the damaged black textured bumper but repair and paint all the deep scratches at my cost which is dumb and absurd and inconsiderate. I mentioned to Sarah that I will bring this up to the small claims court but declined to do it since the cost is not too high and just wanted to get back or refund $402 for the unfinished job on the CRV. Sarah and their management never contacted me again. Maybe they think it was over. I used the help of my son to finally fix the unfinished job and bought spray paint cans to finish the job and seal off the cracked paint on the bumper guard and frames. This review is looking pretty epic and it's nice and awesome for customers to know the bad experiences of past customers so that new customers will know what to look out for and evaluate the shop for expertise. We customers pay good money that we have worked for and we just want equal service for the best repair job possible. I was told by Sarah that they will refer this case to the lawyers and owner and find a solution but they never made contact since Dec 23. This is a bad shop and should be avoided if possible. When I picked up my car last Sept 23 I came across a customer who was also dissatisfied with the repair on his Hyundai car and told me that he will never go back to the shop and will look elsewhere. I will not likely recommend this shop to my friends and relatives or to anyone who wants a quality repair. The mechanic is a pain to explain things on what to do because he does not do a good job. I will negotiate to get back $402 for the repair that was not done since I spent time and materials to repair the CRV in my garage. Now all are aligned, painted and running smoothly without any rattling sound and vibration. The mechanic said that it was the slightly dented radiator that was rattling. If fact it was the fender with a missing bolt. I will also report this incident to The Personal Insurance Company for a poor job done on my CRV. This is an Epic Review. Finally the black bumper cover and headlight are aligned and all cracked paint are sealed. Again the replacement parts installed were certified by Honda dealership for an old model where original parts are hard to find. I brought my own parts as negotiated with simplicity and they agreed without any hesitance to install them and later they complained that they cannot align the bumper and headlight. But because I was the first owner of the 2006 CRV, I was able to align the fender, bumper and headlight properly. I have deep regrets after bringing the vehicle to their NW shop and wasted my hard earned money. Henry the shop owner insulted me by asking if this old 2006 Honda CRV is worth restoring. As a customer this will make you feel belittled.
