We went to Strasbourg on a Sunday in December, arriving by train from Colmar and departing to Paris less than six hours later. We wasted the first of those precious hours trapped inside the station, my kids and I going stir-crazy in a crowded waiting area while my mom went on a long, difficult quest for a storage locker. I guess there aren't enough lockers to serve the hordes of tourists coming into town for the Christmas markets because my mom had to leave the station and walk another ten minutes to find a place to leave our luggage. Something to keep in mind if you're doing a day trip to Strasbourg. Travel light, or budget time to stash your bags. Otherwise, the station was nice. I didn't appreciate the architecture until we were coming back, but the structure was striking, with a modern glass canopy laid over the historical facade. Trains were easy, and the station was a reasonable walk from the Christmas markets, which I assume were in the center of town. I'd recommend coming in through Strasbourg Station if you're visiting Strasbourg. Just best to give yourself some breathing room when you build your schedule. read more

Convenient station to catch a train and within a walkable distance to nearby attractions. While the exterior glass is beautiful, it does lead to a bit of a greenhouse effect in the area between the glass and the former exterior of the station. read more

This station isn't the most travel friendly IMO. Not a lot of indoor seating for you to wait and these trains don't have enough room for large luggage. I know, it's because I'm an American with too much stuff! The train is comfortable enough and there are a few places to pick up food. Remember to have at least one euro to use the bathroom in the station. Tip: the bin for the train gets posted about 20 minutes before departure so if you've got big luggage, you need to make a dash and get in line otherwise you will be like me and have to place the luggage in-between you and the other passenger or in the aisle which looks very unsafe. Don't be afraid to be a bit aggressive because everyone else is. Trains are always on time and clean. Bathrooms are available and clean as well but always bring some sanitizer for afterwards. read more

Strasbourg's main train station is stunning! On the outside is a uniquely-designed glass facade and the inside is a historic building. Although massive on the outside, it's pretty small inside with a few places to eat and lots of stations to purchase train tickets. We took an hour and 45 minute train from here to Paris. (It takes over five hours to drive.) read more

Welcome to France and thank you to the Schengen treaty that means no border controls when arriving from Germany. I simply had to drag my suitcase to the tram and I was good. Decent signage that could be improved. The tram I wanted is outside the building, across the street and across the park. Not particularly well pointed out as I went back and forth through the front courtyard twice to try and figure that out. Returning at the end of our time in Strasbourg, finding the platform for the SBB train to Basel was much easier. This is a very easy train station to maneuver. Whether you are taking a train, a tram, a bus it is easy to find where you are going. The screen is easily display where each mode of transportation is, and how to get there. There are elevators in case you have issues with the stairs. There is a nice coffee shop inside as well so that if you have an early departure, you can grab an espresso and a croissant. We were lucky enough to stay at a hotel very close by and so we were able to walk across the street and catch a tram. We were very excited to learn that when we get off our train from Germany that the hotel was just across the street and easy to get to. read more

I found this train station to be easy to navigate. The walk from the trains to the exit is relatively short and about a 5 minute walk outside. The station was very clean and there was some seating. There is plenty of access to buses and trams right outside the door. There was a small coffee shop with pastries so you can grab a quick bite and drink while waiting for your train. I guess the thing that I really didn't like about this station was that they had covered the front with this huge glass, or is it plastic, I don't know because I didn't go and touch it, dome. I suspect a part of it was to protect the frontage of the railway station, but it really just makes the station look really, really ugly. However, the station itself is pretty cool, though if there is an emergency announcement (as there was when I was there), it is in French as opposed to English, and to be honest with you, my French is pretty shocking. read more

Very hot in the summer. Train to Paris has no AC. Everything looks so outdated. The elevator took forever to close the door properly. They has escalator to go upstair but no escalator to go downstair, which caused a big traffic at elevator. The train door just shut by itself eventhough you were still in between the door, so sensor, you had to push the button to open it again. read more

Strassbourg-Ville or unofficially Gar de Strassbourg, which apparently is the 2nd largest train station in France. Get a number before entering the ticket counter, otherwise you will not get serviced. We needed tickets to Frankfurt and found them quickly at the ticket counter. We had dropped off the car earlier in Entzenheim Airport a half hour earlier which was only 2-3 stops from Strassbourg-Ville. Rome2Rio said the fare was 52Euro per person but it ended up being 70Euro. At least the schedule was correct. The station itself was not remarkable with respect to Art or History. There were 30+ platforms or voi, as they say. First stop Offenburg, Germany, which sits west of the famous Black Forest, then we transfer on an intercity ICE train to Frankfurt. The total trip is approximately 2.5 hours with a 5 minute transfer in Offenburg. August end is a wonderful time to travel with cornfields approaching 8-9ft in height. read more

Super easy train station to use. Trains run to Paris, Stuttgart, Luxembourg, and Colmar among other destinations. Ticket office, ATM, coffee shops, newsstands located inside. Taxi area is located on the far right when exiting the train station. It is about a ten minute drive (approximately €11-14 taxi fare) to the city center. read more

They did a beautiful job of preserving the building, and it's a very comfortable and attractive old place with a beautiful grassy plaza in front, surrounded by old hotels with retro-looking (1950s) neon signs on top. The station is easy to find. The locked luggage room is a big help, though the staff sometimes act as though the patrons (me) are not playing with a full deck. The information desk is more helpful and pleasant. The hall leading to it has a lovely small bar with tables where you can perch if the train is late and you are early. I always feel celebratory when I arrive here, and I'm always arriving FROM Paris, which is hardly chopped liver. read more

This train station was great. Incredibly easy to get around, cafe's had wifi, and the trams are literally just right outside. The ticket kiosks were very easy to use, and it's simple to navigate the gates. Very good station. read more
