(There are also a few bus lines though it's more convenient to walk since most of the narrow streets are pedestrian only.) The station is pretty clean and decent sized for supporting only two rail tracks--one headed East and the other West--along the coast. Train arrival and departure information is posted on screens outside and inside the station. Ticket machines may take a little bit of time (maybe 5-10 minutes) to figure out a) if you haven't used them before, as there are two different types of machines, and b) especially if you don't read French or aren't familiar with any Romance languages, since the preliminary navigation screens are in French. So plan your time accordingly if this is your first time taking a train in the south of France. I'd recommend purchasing a ticket directly at the station since the one I bought online on their app couldn't actually be used. When I tried to scanning the ticket QR code (from my phone) on the digital scanner for entry to the platform, it wouldn't work. During normal business hours, there are a few spots inside to purchase convenience items, snacks and drinks. There is an inside waiting area with benches, and if you're waiting outside the platform is covered overhead. Bathrooms are available in the form of public toilets which are I believe €0.50 per use. Taxis are readily available outside the station in the mid-morning and early evening times when I arrived and departed Antibes.

It has a beautiful facade in the front, and the walkways from/to the train are relatively wide, letting a large group of people go in/out with their luggage. There didn't seem to be much inside, so you have to nearby restaurants for a bite to eat. For our outbound trip, we needed to catch a SNCF train to the nearest Italian town (Ventimiglia). We used our ticket to scan through the gate into the departure area, but was not used after that. The train runs every 30 minutes in the morning, and we caught the 7:50 train. The track doesn't get assigned until 30 minutes or so. There were no elevators with easy access, so needed to carry our bags using stairs. Track E ended up being our stop. The train came on time. It was a beautiful ride through the coast (so choose a seat to the right to see the sights). We arrived at Ventimiglia by 8:40, stopping at the following stations (Nice Riquier, Ville Franche Sur Mer, Beaulieu Sur Mer, Eze, Cap D'Ali, Monaco, Roquebrune Cap-Martin, Carnoles, Menton, Menton Garavan). It was open seating, and there were plenty of choices. There is no overhead racks for luggage, so had to store the luggage in the baggage racks in each car.

In this…read morecase, we decided to exercise the cheaper (and more adventurous) tack of train-chasing the Train de Pignes. Starting with a bit of lolly-gagging around station in Puget-Théniers while paying customers boarded the train, then racing up the road toward Entrevaux and Annot in hopes of a few photo-ops of all the huffing and puffing! Amazing! These rails are actually a commuter line that runs from Nice up to the city of Digne-les-Bains, which by the way, would be worth the trip just to ride up this scenic route in the daily diesel powered rail-cars. But on Sundays in the summertime, they fire up this old steam locomotive (apparently built in the 20s in Cassel, Germany) and make the twenty-kilometer run from Puget-Théniers to Annot - Maybe not the best part of the run, but a very good part of the run. We had just done a steam train ride in Provence a few days before, so we didn't have the compunction to buy a ticket to ride on this one. But had we done so, we would have missed out on the chance to photograph the 'little-engine-that-does.' I'm sure it's a great view from the train, and I suspect we'll buy a ticket and ride it one day, but just seeing that living, breathing locomotive pull the train up this gorge is one of life's richest moments. Ride it. Chase it. Photograph it. But only on Sundays! Worth planning your holiday around this! And much safer than the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona!
