The building is older (1940s) but updated, kept up & well maintained. Rooms were clean and comfortable with mini-fridge, TV, table & plenty of space to relax after hiking & running all day. The yard has a corn hole game, grill and numerous chairs for relaxing. Ice & popcorn (50 cents) are available as is coffee in the mornings. There is also a collection of board games & magazines available for guests to use/read. The lodge is in walking distance of everything. And very close to the park entrance. Menus & flyers for most places in the village are available in the lobby. The owners are fantastic! When we called to confirm our late arrival (10p) they called back later to tell us most restaurants closed around 9p so to be sure & eat supper before arriving in town. Very thoughtful of them! I would highly recommend Carter Lodge & know if we ever get back to the area that we will absolutely stay there again.

Was so thrilled to stop here today on our anniversary and ask if we could walk around for nostalgia. We were told by man who worked in office, that we were unable to due to liabilities. We totally understood and said we would just look past the bushes from the road and take a picture of the Evening Shade sign. He was fine with that. Within a few minutes, a woman came out from office and yelled at us from a distance very rudely "you can't be here and you need to leave!" Then she turn around and left. Apparently she worked there. I quickly got in the car to leave with my husband. I then decided to go back into the office to ask her why she was so rude. She said she wasn't rude. We were taking a picture in front of evening shade sign.

Very comfortable memory foam mattress with super soft sheets. The kitchen is small but perfect. Dishes already in the cabinets to use. I would've liked to have paper towels supplied so be sure to bring some when you come. Also, coffee is supplied in the office at 7:30 so unless you're an early bird unlike us, be sure to bring some coffee grounds to use in the coffee pot. We were supplied with plenty of towels/rags which I was very pleased by because most places give you only 2 towels. I will say the water pressure isn't the best but it was good and hot so I was alright with it. The back porch had a PHENOMENAL view of chimney rock and the river. If you're a bigger person you may struggle a little getting onto the porch because it's a little bit of a tight squeeze. There were 2 chairs on the porch that accommodate bigger people. I would have liked to have a table on the porch though. There's a fire pit right on the river with wood supplied as well as plenty of swings and a grill under a shed. The owners are very sweet and truly care about their guests. Price is very reasonable for the location. It was $292 for Friday-Sunday. I really did enjoy our weekend there, it was PERFECT!!

Upon arrival, the owners offered to help back in my camper as it was my second time doing so. They offered to help me set up anything I needed help with. They were always friendly, and answered any of my questions without hesitation. This RV park definitely has a homey feel to it. I enjoyed the people around me as well, as all were very nice. They are also very pet friendly, as they LOVED my dog and cat. They were spoiled with love there. One time they brought someone to play live music, and grilled food for everyone at the campsite. Their laundry facilities and bathrooms are always super clean, and all is very spacious. When I was leaving, they also helped me to make sure I was hooked up properly. I am glad I came here for my first RV living experience, and now every other RV park I stay in will have to live up to these expectations. They also had amazing cell and wifi service which was a big plus, being away from home.

Bathroom is clean. The sites are large enough to spread out a little and pop-up a canopy tent and unpack a few chairs. Local gas station and convenience store is only about a mile a away. Larger food store is about 7 miles. Lake Lure is only 10 minutes away. Several state parks, equine center, restaurants, and vinyards/breweries are an easy drive too. Overall, we had a great time and as always we met some nice people at the site too.

Anyone that has spent time in and around Lake Lake understands there are many reasons why they keep…read morereturning - this place is almost timeless. I truly haven't seen much change since I first visited the area almost twenty years ago. Certainly its remoteness can be attributed to its ability to continue to operate under the radar and other reasons are that there's simply not much industry and not many commercial ventures concentrated in the area so it's mostly dependent on the tourism and businesses that support that. One thing I still love about this area is that it hasn't embraced the circus atmosphere you find in other popular destinations. I come here to relax so when I was looking for a place close to the lake and golf courses to park our MotorCoach and no more than a few miles from Rumblings Bald Resort where a few of our friends were staying in their timeshares it was obvious Apple Valley Farm Motor Coach Resort was the only place to consider. One of the things I loved about this beautifully landscaped RV Resort besides the many amenities that comes with each site is that I booked everything online and up to this point a few weeks after our stay I never once spoke with anyone associated with this resort in person or on the phone. I confirmed the site reservation a few months ahead of time and I was able to hand pick the exact site I wanted to reserve after reading the description of each site and reviewing the photos online. The payment was also online via a credit card. Upon our arrival after hours there was a packet waiting for us at the entrance to the resort with all the information we needed as well as the rules of the resort which were also provided with the online confirmation. Each site is separated by privacy landscaping and are very spacious, the utilities are very well maintained and located in a convenient location on each lot to align with your MotorCoach connections. The site we reserved came with 50 amps of electric service, complete sewer connections and softened potable water (the water pressure was very strong so I suggest using your personal pressure regulator to protect you Motorhome's plumbing although they utilize the adjustable pro-flow yard hydrants for the supply). We arrived on a Friday and stayed through the following Thursday and encountered zero issues, the resort is very quiet and peaceful and extremely clean. The bear proof trash bins are conveniently located so there's no need to keep any trash around your site that could attract wildlife, we didn't encounter any bears but there are bear awareness signs posted throughout the area so it's something to pay attention to in short be aware of your surroundings. I was able to circle the resort numerous times allowing me to get a nice view of most of the sites, being they are all somewhat unique since most I believe are privately owned and managed when not in use by the owner. The site we occupied had a raised deck overlooking the lake with several outside tables and a gazebo, there was also a charcoal and gas grill and a "porch swing". This resort will only accept reservations for Class A MotorCoaches which you must provide the information for including the make and model prior to getting a reservation confirmation. The mountains seem to provide a varying amount of sun and shade depending on the location of the site and time of the year of course, our visit was in September it seems we got get equal parts of both. The condos and other accommodations in the area seem very nice but there's nothing like going on vacation and still being able to sleep in your own bed and enjoy all the luxuries of home. This resort is perfect for that and when you compare the rates well I don't know how anything compares to this...
