Its in a quiet, comfortable neighborhood not far from the OSU campus. This home had all the amenities you would need for a week long stay - fully amenitized kitchen, huge backyard, plenty of room to spread out after a long day of adventure. In addition, the owner will stock light snacks and breakfast items in the kitchen to get your day started, which was a nice touch. Home was spotless and everything worked as advertised. We will use Fernwood again in our travels to the OSU area!

When we arrived we were very pleased with the warmth and pristine condition of the home, its location at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and the overall attention to detail. We appreciated the many thoughtful touches, from the decor to the furnishings to all the little things you need in the kitchen and restrooms to settle right in. The backyard was perfect for our two young children. Alexandra, the property manager, was attentive and easy to work with. Highly recommended!

We took the trail up to the lighthouse and saw the lightkeeper's home on the way. There is a fence all around and it is not open to the public, but there were people sitting on the porch! We realized it was a bed and breakfast and I was heartbroken not to have known about it before as we certainly would have included a stay there in our vacation plans. I tucked it away as a hopeful wish for someday.... Well, little did I know at the time, we ended up moving to Oregon a few years later! As soon as we were settled, I determined we must make a weekend trip and stay at the lighthouse. We finally did and it lived up to every one of my lofty expectations. The lightkeeper's house is accessed via a private road, and there are a few parking spaces near the house, but it was pretty tight. Upon arrival, we were greeted and brought to our room, with a quick tour of the home and some suggestions of things to see or do while there. We booked one of the Mariner's rooms as they have such a gorgeous view of the ocean. The bedroom and bathroom inside were definitely small, but that is to be expected in a historic home, and no matter as the bed was comfortable as could be! Of note, some rooms share a bathroom so check while booking if you have a preference. Once we'd checked it out, we stopped by the cheese and fruit out for guest's arrival on our way to the beach, and they were so sweet to give us a little box so we could pack some goodies to enjoy on the sand. They had wine, too! We spent a perfect hour or so at the beach, then headed into Florence for dinner. This or Yachats are the closest city for meals (about 20 minutes either direction) so either eat before you check in, or plan to go back out. They do have a kitchen that is available for guests, so you could bring an easy to prepare meal. Once we'd returned, we spent some more time at the beach, then relaxed in our room until dark. Then we grabbed a flashlight and headed on up the trail to admire the lighthouse in the night. This was such a unique experience and the highlight of our stay. You can see how far out the light beams to sea, and we hiked up a bit behind the lighthouse, so we were right at the level with the rotating light. Incredible! Back in our room, we cracked the windows for a lovely ocean breeze and fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Perfection. In the morning, I took a little time to read through the ghost stories they have collected (too wimpy to read at night!), we wandered around the beach for a bit, and then guess what! The stay isn't over yet as there is a stunning seven course breakfast! This is served family style with other guests, although they do give you the option to dine separately if you let them know ahead of time. The food was magnificent! They explained each dish as it came out and it was all so fresh and skillfully prepared. We had a tropical fruit salad, bread, tuna ceviche, mango smoothie, quiche, sausage, panna cotta, and finished with fruit and cheese. Of note, if you don't wish to stay but would like to have breakfast in the lightkeeper's house, they do special breakfasts for special occasions and at certain times of the year, just check the website for dates. After the meal, they offered a little history tour inside the house which we sadly didn't have time to stay for, but we did go to the lighthouse for quick tour and to peruse the gift shop before checking out. It truly was such a dream of a trip, and I would definitely suggest staying for two nights. I thought one would be sufficient but would have loved more time. A couple tips about the area: This is just a mile or two north of the Sea Lion Caves. They are 110% a tourist trap, but still worth a visit if you've never been. We ate dinner at Mari's Kitchen in Florence and it was delicious, would highly suggest it, although it is located in a cute downtown area with all sorts of options. The same people who run the bed and breakfast own Ona's in Yachats, so I'm sure that would be great too. While in the area, make sure to plan some time to explore magical Cape Perpetua.

A group of seven of us stayed at the house for a weekend bachelor party and it was sufficient for our needs but may not be for a family. It was clean and definitely covered the basic necessities so if you're more concerned with location or just aren't too particular then Moyer Beach house will be fine. Sleeping: the house technically sleeps eight people but it's comprised of a bunk bed and three queens so it's slightly misleading. There's also a futon on the main floor that could sleep two more. The beds were clean and comfortable and acceptable for a weekend. Kitchen: the kitchen is extremely small and fitting more than two people in there would draw comparisons to clowns in a clown car. The range is small and fitting a large pot or multiple pans on the burners is a challenge. The house is extremely lacking in pots and pans so be sure to bring your own if you plan to cook. Bathroom: the bathroom works for a weekend but would get annoying for anything longer than two days. Lots of extra towels provided. Misc: the house does not have internet access but does have a tv and dvd player in case the oregon weather catches up with you. There's parking for two cars - one in the driveway, one along the road. Location: the house is located at 62nd/Logan in north Lincoln City about a mile from the casino. Safeway and McMennamins close by. Good location overall as beach isn't too crowded in the north part of Lincoln City. Property: the back yard is a good size for playing behind the house but overgrown blackberry bushes obstruct a lot of the ocean view. There's technically a path that can be used to access the beach but it requires jumping down off a small drop-off (~4ft). Beach access for non-abled bodies is at the state park a few houses to the south. Ok house for a weekend but if there are other options available I'd probably recommend another house.

We found that the Moyer Family Beach House graciously embraces its heritage and makes the most of its smaller dimensions and limitations. We loved that its well-appointed living and dining area is completely engaged by the wall of windows facing across its lawn to a magnificent unencumbered view of the Pacific Ocean. We enjoyed watching the many terrific kite surfers do their thing right from the kitchen table and the living room couch!

We knew we wanted to stay in the Willamette wine country and just randomly decided on staying in the city of Corvallis. We found this guest house on vrbo.com and called up & immediately booked it. The plus is, they accepted our dogs too, which was great! We stayed in the lower "flat" of the house, with it's own little covered porch area with comfy couch & chair overlooking the family's own christmas tree farm. We met Dale immediately upon arrival and he greeted us very warmly and we felt right at home. The flat has 2 bedrooms with queen ( I think) sized beds in both rooms and with great decor, a lovely at-home feel and Dale has all kinds of beautiful pottery he has made, scattered throughout the flat. A nice kitchen and big dining area to suit any sort of entertaining for around 8 people. We had been camping for 4 days before so coming into a nice home like this was perfect timing for us! The bed we slept in was really comfy as well. The location is pretty good-right near Oregon State University and just a short drive to several wineries around Corvallis. Cardwell Hill Cellars is wonderful and just a quick 10 minute drive away. Also, this house has laundry facilities, which is great!! We will definitely be coming back here. The warm hospitality from Dale and the coziness of the property were enough to make me want to stay there for a week! Unfortunately we were only there for 2 nights, but it was a wonderful stay! I would highly recommend to anyone!!
