I have never had an owner or a supervisor show-up in a clean, pressed, starched shirt. Very impressive... Now, as for their work. Having dealt with a lot of contractors their professionalism, and work ethic are first class. They communicated with me regarding appointment time and delays, which is almost unheard of. And showing up on time is also almost unheard of for South FL contractors. Yandy met my expectations on his communicating with me and his crew did an excellent job in trimming my trees. They also went the extra mile in doing things that are not typically done, e.g., blowing the all of the debris off the street after they had finished. Leaving it cleaner than when they got there. Their pricing is very reasonable and Yandy's response to my call on the same day and gave me a quote that was much better than I had expected. I highly recommend Royal Palm and will be using them in the future for a landscaping job.

I told them what our budget was per our Board of Directors & Andre the owner told us his bid would come in much higher. I then got a call from Andre's wife to ignore what Andre said & that they could do it for the price budgeted. We had an agreement on price & how often they'd be here. Suddenly 3 weeks ago they stopped coming, in the height of growing season. When I would call, I was tole they'd be here the next week, the next day & so forth. Then I was told they'd merged with IB At Your Lawncare & that they'd be out the next day. It is now 3 weeks later & I FINALLY got Andre to return my call. He said he wasn't coming back & that our park was too much work for him. I asked if out of decency he would mow for 1 more month until our park could find a new service. His answer was no. So we are now sitting with 100 lots unmowed & zero notice that he was quitting. He clearly doesn't care about customer service, satisfaction or even decency in running a business. Stay AWAY! I am sad to write this unfortunate review on a local business, but I have to share my experiences…read moreover the past 10 months with Alain and his business. Overall: He has good prices, but lost my trust as he failed to show up and took advantage of my not being in the same city as the property I asked for lawn maintenance. I sincerely hope he will learn to do better even though he didn't do right by me. *First impression* As you can read from my first review, I was really impressed with my first experience with him. He asked for a review immediately for the other company name EZ Yards, but said he had some issue with Yelp account. He responded timely and did the job amazingly. I requested lawn maintenance (hedges and mow the lawn) every two months (he insisted on monthly - I obliged bc it's small business) on my parents' property in a different city than where I live. I needed a business I could trust that would do the job and do it well. My parents are getting older and Alain seemed to understand the importance of family. And I've been taken for a ride! *The long game* I was very impressed the second time he came when I wasn't in the city because this time before asking for payment he sent pictures. *Red flags I should've noticed* - He insisted monthly maintenance, but instead came when he could. - I would receive text messages saying he was going to the property thinking he would show up only for another one to come the next week saying he was definitely going. - He never sent pictures to prove the maintenance was done, but again I thought I could trust him. *Chances Upon Chances* One of his services said he could cut tree branches. So I asked if he could trim some branches. I sent him pictures of the tree I wanted cut. He said that if he hauled them away it would be extra so it would be cheaper to leave it for the city to pick up. I told him where the city would pick up and even sent him a picture. I came to check on the property to find the tree was poorly cut and the branches left in the wrong spot. I didn't mind the tree, but told him he placed the branches in the wrong area. He said he would show up that day to move them. Then, he said he would show up the next day. He never showed. Instead, I had to move the branches myself with my older mother in the rain to avoid a citation from the city. Despite this I wanted to give him another chance, he shared with me that he had something come up with his family. He wasn't specific, but I decided to give him another chance bc of how much I love and care for my family. *The Last Experience* End of April 2021/Beginning of May 2021: I asked if he could go to the property and cut the lawn and hedges (regular lawn maintenance) bc we got a citation from the city. He said he would get to our property but it's taking him time bc he landed a big contract. Regardless, he said he cut it and asked me for $60 I came to visit my parents for Mother's Day weekend just to find that the bushes were not cut and the edges where the grass meets cement or the house were over a foot tall. I sent him pictures and circled the areas. He didn't respond. I had to text him again asked for an explanation. His response exactly: "My. Weed whacked broke on the spot." I asked about the hedges and he never responded. I don't understand why ask for money when you didn't do the job bc your machine broke? Why not tell me? My only guess is bc he knew I dont live in the same city and can only visit when I can. He never apologized nor did he say I'll come back and do it. He never offered to refund my money. I thought that he wouldn't want to lose consistent business so I was hoping he would apologize but here we are in the middle of June and I haven't heard a thing. We live in a time where trust is easily broken. It's hard to find people and business to trust. I trusted this man. I truly did, and I feel nothing short but taken advantage of. *Why then am I giving him two stars instead of one?* Bc I know deep down he is a good man. I think if you live on the property and can see the job he does immediately; He won't take advantage of you. *Use my review as a notice of caution* I want his business to succeed and maybe it's growing at an exponential rate that he can't keep up. He would rather choose businesses that offer more money than a residential home that's essentially lowering hanging fruit. Perhaps, if you go into business with him you too might want a contract. I've learned my lesson. I hope he will do better. I wish him the best, and I will fight for my money refunded from the bank.

If I had to do it all over again, I would never have signed the contract, which stated: "South Florida Tropical Tree Care & Landscape Services is not liable for any unseen underground utilities or irrigation." On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, they completed the job, and I proudly took pictures of how great it looked. The next day, both the toilets in my home were backed up and nearly overflowing. By the day after that, the shower in one bathroom and the bathtub in the other were filling up with backed-up dirt. After my handyman used a snake to try to clear up the blockage, he suggested I call Roto Rooter, as his equipment was not sufficient.  That Friday, Roto Rooter came and repaired the broken sewer pipes, which they said could only have been caused by the landscaping work. The original job cost $3,121.50, and Roto Rooter's work on the pipes came to another $3,750. I then texted Winston Wilkerson at South Florida Tropical Tree Care to ask what he was going to do about the underground damage his company had done. Mr. Wilkerson acknowledged that his company's work could have caused the damage and that he would pay half of the Roto Rooter bill. The next day, I received a text from him saying he would not be paying me any money, and that it was not his responsibility.  If you are thinking about hiring this company, beware of the clause in the contract that absolves them of any responsibility for underground damage. A $3,000 job turned into almost $7,000 out of my pocket. Also, it was not honorable for them to go back on their promise to pay for half the damages. This company was careless, negligent, and dishonest.
