I've been going to this location for years after my previous doctor retired and have always gone to Dr Are. She's always been honest and thorough during our exams and came to congratulate me when it was confirmed that I was pregnant. She explained that I would also meet with Dr Guta and Dr Yassa as any one of them could deliver me. All of these doctors are amazing and took the best care of me. Typically I'd schedule my appointments Saturday mornings or early during the week before work and there's no more than a 20 minute wait. Pam and Victoria (NPs) are also fantastic and always provide me with a mini science lesson on what's going on with my body. I delivered my baby boy in December at 36+5 and had a very fast labor at Good Sam. Even thought they couldn't make it in time, Dr Yassa and Dr Guta checked on me. I've heard of nightmare stories about the lack of care at other Ob/Gyn practices and my experience here was great. They even provided me with a nurse concierge (on call text support). 1 star off because the after hours person seemed to not know how to help me when I went into labor and there have been a few times before my pregnancy when my wait was longer than 30 minutes. No one is perfect I guess. Oh and for all the pregnant mamas, this practice gives you a ton of sonogram pictures of your little one. That's also a great perk. read more

This is by far the WORST OBGYN I've ever been to. When I started coming to this location, the original staff that was here were fantastic but that was almost 6 years ago. Now It's unfortunately changed for the worst. The last gynecologist I saw was very rude, impatient and overall just didn't have a good bedside manner. It's always impossible to try to reach these people for any questions or concerns I've had. They never ever answer the phone when I call for updates on medicine, or lab results. There is no consistency or communication. The only reason I still come here is to get my birth control renewed. They clearly don't have their S#@T together. I'm going to start going somewhere else. I was a patient at Garden OBGYN for over five years, and during that time I visited multiple locations, including Garden City, Massapequa, Lake Success, and Cedarhurst. I'm rewriting my review with more detail because my original comment was removed by a moderator because it' lacked details about my experience as a custome'but my experience deserves to be shared. 1. You never see the same provider. The doctors constantly rotate in and out of the rooms, and your chart gets passed around like a file number. The provider you see at your appointment often has no idea of the issue you discussed at your last visit. There's no continuity of care and no true relationship with any one doctor. 2. They tell you services are covered, then bill you anyway. I always paid my co-pay up front. Then, I would still get billed on the back end for services I specifically asked about before coming in--services they told me were covered. This happened repeatedly. 3. The wait times are unbelievable. I once waited over two hours, only for the doctor I was scheduled to see to leave for the day. This happened a week before my due date, when I urgently needed to be seen by him. 4. The biggest issue: questionable billing around my delivery. Garden OBGYN was not the team that delivered my baby. They outsourced that service to a different provider. The delivering physician billed my insurance and was paid. However, Garden OBGYN also billed my insurance under the name of a physician I have never seen, met, or even heard of, claiming he attended my delivery. He absolutely did not. When I called with my insurance representative on the line, the office refused to take the call and said they would "call me back without the insurance rep on the line". After all this, it became clear: This practice prioritizes billing, not patients. They are exploitative, inconsistent, and dismissive the moment you raise concerns. I will never return to Garden OBGYN, and I strongly recommend avoiding them at all costs if you want accountable, transparent, and consistent medical care. read more

I gave it **because the staff was nice. I made an appt. for an OB/GYN exam @ Garden OB/GYN. Simply my mom died of ovarian cancer in her 80s. I am a 72 year-old woman with history of triple negative cancer so I decided to have a preventive checkup. They told me because of my age. I don't need an exam. For the record there's no age limit the young PA didn't feel like examine an older woman. I was embarrassed instead she gave me a prescription for follow up mammogram. read more

I had a great experience with one of the Garden locations in the city, so when I moved to Long Island, I assumed this location would offer the same level of care. Unfortunately, that assumption was completely wrong. First, this is the only practice I've ever encountered that requires a "contraceptive surveillance" appointment every six months just to get a birth control refill. Most providers require one annual check-up, so this policy feels like a manipulative and unnecessary money grab. These appointments consist of nothing more than a urine sample and weight check, no meaningful evaluation. Worse than the policies is the complete lack of communication. As others have mentioned, they use offshore customer call centers. I wouldn't mind that if the communication was effective, but it's not. I've had to make multiple calls just to track down prescriptions that weren't sent to my pharmacy, often after being told they were. Customer service reps have hung up on me or disconnected while "transferring" the call. This is incredibly frustrating. Patients should not have to spend days (yes, DAYS) to chase down their own prescriptions. Thankfully, I'm moving and will no longer have to deal with this practice. I am unfortunately switching to a different ob-gyn. Two times I came in for an infection and was told they would send medication to pharmacy. One time it was not even sent and I never could get thru to the office. I had left SEVERAL MESSAGES WITH NO RETURN PHONE CALL FROM ANYONE!!!!! THE SERVICE HERE IS HORRIBLE TO SAY THE LEAST !!!!! The first time with my infection it also took forever to have the right one sent over. This place is not the place you want to go. Had app. last 4/2/25 with Dr. Ayre the visit took about 5 minutes. After it was done, I asked " what happens now?" Then the answers " We will send you the rx to the pharmacy." It was sent to the wrong place after calling them twice, and being told we will send it to the correct pharmacy. It never happened, they called the incorrect pharmacy and asked if they had it there. Yes it was there, Then I had to ask if they could send it to the correct pharmacy, which they did after I had gone to both places to correct the issue. So not only did they give me false results and submitted a prescription that could have extremely negative effects on my health...before they even spoke with me!...now the call service has been calling me on essentially a daily basis to ask me to make an appointment for an annual checkup. I've never experienced such a disorganized, unprofessional, and emotionally cold environment in healthcare, especially in something as sensitive as gynecology. If I could give zero stars, I would. I made an appointment through their system for an IUD insertion, selected that exact service, and never once was told I had to order the IUD myself. No instructions. No follow-up. Nothing at check-in either. I paid $80 up front, and only after waiting and being taken into the exam room did a nurse casually say, "Let me check if we have it." My boyfriend and I were so confused. Then someone else came in and said, "Oh, you were supposed to order it." As if this was somehow my fault. I followed every single step your office provided. There was no communication, no apology, and had to beg for a partial refund ($40 for a forced annual visit). I didn't even get the service I paid for. They still made me do a pap smear and sonogram, allegedly to measure for the IUD and check for an ovarian cyst I had mentioned -- but they completely ignored the cyst and never fully explained the results. The doctor, Dr. Are, barely spoke and only mentioned the cyst when I asked (that was the whole point.) It was just "come in, pay, leave confused." Fast forward to my Pap smear results--I received a phone call on Monday telling me I needed to come in immediately. I asked what the issue was, and they refused to tell me anything over the phone until the doctor is there on Wednesday. That is completely unprofessional and borderline manipulative. I was terrified. When I got there, I waited over 40 minutes, and then Dr. Are came in, didn't say hello or offer any explanation -- she just glanced at the computer and said, "You have high-risk HPV." That was it. No support. No education. No bedside manner. She immediately tried to schedule me for a colposcopy and said I needed bloodwork, without even explaining what either was for. I had to ask twice what the bloodwork was for and all she said was, "pre-op." I told her I hadn't gotten the HPV vaccine growing up due to health issues, and she gave me a judgmental face instead of listening or showing compassion. Then I was sent to get blood drawn and they had misplaced my chart. The two girls doing the draw never acknowledged me, spoke only to each other in Spanish, were laughing, dropping equipment on the floor, and didn't explain anything they were doing. I asked what the six vials of blood were for, and one just said, "for the operation." I have never refused a service at a doctor's visit, but I asked for my bloodwork script to be printed and I left with no services completed. I've never felt so disregarded and invisible in a medical office. On top of that, Dr. Are made condescending and weird comments during my exam. She saw a small bruise on me during my exam and sarcastically asked, "You bruise easily?" in reference to what was obviously a hickey. Totally unnecessary, totally unprofessional, and deeply uncomfortable. This place does not care about patients. They want your money and want you in and out without taking the time to explain anything. I felt like a number, not a person. The lack of compassion, the judgment, the poor communication, the rushed visits, the inappropriate comments-- all of it adds up to a clinic that should not be in operation. I want my money back. The $40 remainder for the IUD appointment that never happened. The $40 I was charged just to be told my own results in a minute without explanation. This care was cold, dismissive, and unacceptable. Avoid Dr. Are and this office at all costs. The high Google ratings are misleading-- if you read the real reviews, they're nearly all 1 star for a reason. Don't make the mistake I did. not sure why they have such horrible rates... this is a big practice with multiple locations if you choose this route you know you will deal with : Call center systems Multiple staff changes Waiting times Various sites for testing/imagining. I have has garden for 3 pregnancies with high risk for all ! As long as i was on top of my care which we should all be my request were met. I always was able to get in when i did not feel well or had concerns. Late evening hours and early mornings are great to allow partner to attend be involved in prenatal care. When it comes to document follow up again as a big practice there is some main office systems to ensure your items are addressed. But i would do this for the convenience of other items mentioned above ! Many offices in all of nyc and long island which is great if you travel and work around!!! Student PA's and MA's are always on these sites but they are transparent about this unlike many other practices ! High risk care requires consistent care and they do a great job booking you appointments ahead of time so you can plan! read more

I've now been to this location two times for the same issue. The first time I was left sitting in the office completely undressed for over 15 min waiting for my first exam and the second exam I had to completely forgo because again I was left waiting with my literal pants down for a ridiculous amount of time. The second visit, much like the first was a completely impersonal experience. I booked an appointment for an Obgyn both times I ended up with the same Nurse Practitioner. After I left my first appointment I was getting into my car and got a call saying I missed my appointment, the same appointment I just left and the one that THEY, in the last minute rescheduled me to for their convenience. Both times the NP was the ONLY provider in the entire office. As much as she tried to be helpful it was just not an experience where I left feeling confident about my assessment or treatment. She was extremely rushed in her exam and her explanation of what MAY be happening. When follow up questions were asked they were answered in a rushed and dismissive way. She barely made eye contact while she was explaining and then ran out the door to the next patient. The office waiting room is dirty and covered in thick dust and the floors have hair and dirt all over. This location is lacking the staff needed to be truly functional. read more

My experience at this OB-GYN practice, including interactions with Dr. Are, has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I am compelled to share my deep dissatisfaction with the level of care I've received. My records are filled with inaccuracies, including false claims about my treatment and health status. Despite my repeated attempts to have these errors corrected, nothing has been done. This level of negligence is unacceptable and deeply concerning. Scheduling is another disaster. I've received appointment notices with such short notice that it's nearly impossible to attend. When I've tried to reschedule, the staff has been uncooperative and disorganized. Additionally, my records frequently indicate that I've seen Dr. Are, but in reality, I am often seen by PAs and nurses instead. This bait-and-switch practice is misleading and unprofessional. The lack of professionalism at this practice is shocking. During one of my procedures, I overheard staff using inappropriate language and engaging in unprofessional conversations just outside the room. This behavior was both unprofessional and upsetting, especially during a stressful procedure. Furthermore, during an appointment, a person entered the room without identifying themselves or obtaining my consent to observe. This blatant violation of my privacy and rights as a patient is unacceptable and deeply disturbing. The final straw came when I discovered contradictions in my test results and attempted to contact the office for clarification. I was rudely hung up on, and despite promises of a return call, no one ever reached out to me. My subsequent messages have been ignored, leaving me without crucial information about my health. When I spoke to the manager about my experience and no longer wanting to be a patient, she blamed the call center passing the buck and evading responsibility when it was indeed the Massapequa office i spoke to. In summary, this practice, including Dr. Are, fails on every level--communication, professionalism, accuracy, and patient care. I would not recommend this OB-GYN to anyone who values their health and well-being. I am now actively seeking care elsewhere and strongly advise others to avoid this practice at all costs. read more

Worst place I have ever been to. Doctor ARE has zero bedside manners. I went there for pregnancy and instead of a congratulations she asked me if I was looking to keep my child first red flag, never experienced that with my first two children. Then started with all the negative things that could happen not anything positive to talk about. Doesn't listen to you talk , doesn't care what you have to say. Very negative doctor. Not all but some of the techs are very unkind and made it very uncomfortable to be in the room with. The doctor told me my baby stopped growing and was so keen on I am having a miscarriage she didn't want to do any further testing. Well I went to a new doctor whom I wish I went to in the first place and said she was 100 percent incorrect and my child is perfectly fine. The sadness she put me through is indescribable. Please don't go here if you care about yourself. The amount of complaints I read about this doctor is insane. Why this clinic still keeps her here is very questionable. Should be shut down. The doctor had no idea her PA prescribed me medication, the rush your appointment and give no detail as per what's going on with your pregnancy, nor give explanation. So done! I had my first visit at the Massapequa location in December of 2020 it's been downhill ever since. · I have been trying to get registered on their portal since December 2020. I email requests repeatedly (I try to remember to do it once a week). They ask for my name and birthdate and then nothing happens...REPEAT the process... · I made an appointment for bloodwork. They said they would only contact me if something was wrong. In the meantime, I try to continue to get into the portal so that I can review my bloodwork on my own. After no success with the portal, I call for bloodwork results multiple times with no return call. Finally, I text requesting results, two days later I am told the doctor wants to review the results with me and I need to make an appointment. Obviously something is wrong, why didn't she call me to begin with?!? · My daughter wanted a hormone implant, they told her they'd order it and call her once it came in. A month later, she called them to follow up and they told her they lost her paperwork and she needed to come back in. This is NO WAY to run a business. We are out time and money every time they screw up, which is often! read more

Horrible experience. Finally changed gynecologist practices. I wish I didn't stay with them during my pregnancy. Here are the multiple things wrong with this place; mind you that I'm not a tough critic but this practice is a mess. Hang in there because this review gradually gets worse and worse. No one picks up the phone, the wait times are ridiculous, sometimes they even ask you to do them a favor and come in early but then you end up waiting two hours in the waiting room anyway. I've gotten concerning bloodwork while pregnant with my first child (my glucose levels were critical) but the staff never notified me and I discovered it months later while reviewing my own blood test results on the patient portal. Turns out I was on the cusp of gestation diabetes and no one alerted me. All they care about is money which is why they'll cram too many people into appointment slots, and not give their patients the care they deserve. Even stranger was that they would have me come in and do sonograms every 2-4 weeks and constantly visit both their Massapequa and Lake Success offices even though I had a healthy pregnancy and it wasn't medically necessary. They'll find any excuse to bill the insurance and make an extra dollar. I finally told them to stop doing all the sonograms (checking blood pressure and baby's heart rate each visit is more than sufficient during a healthy pregnancy. You only need two or three sonograms during your entire pregnancy). They'd also suggest that I visit the Lake Success office every couple of weeks because they "have better equipment." If that's the case, why should anyone come to the Massapequa office at all? If that's not bad enough, they rushed me to the hospital because their machine wasn't picking up my baby's heartbeat. My husband and I rushed to the hospital teary-eyed thinking we were losing our daughter. When I got to the hospital everything was fine and the baby's heart rate was healthy. Garden OB/GYN just has bad quality equipment apparently. Furthermore, throughout the nine months of pregnancy, no one would answer me when I'd ask who was delivering my baby. I finally discovered that none of the doctors deliver babies for patients and that they hire a gynecologist from a total different practice to deliver babies on their behalf. How can they call themselves an OB/GYN when they have several offices around Long Island but no competent doctors to deliver their patients' babies? I only found out who the doctor delivering was two weeks before giving birth because of the fluke situation where my husband and I rushed to the hospital due to my daughter's heartbeat not showing up on their equipment. It just so happened to be that the doctor delivering our baby was working at the hospital that day and notified us he'd be delivering her because "He delivers for all of Garden OB/Gyns patients." Unfortunately for me, that doctor ended up leaving some of the placenta in me (my whole childbirth was mayhem) so now I'm in the process of scheduling a D&C with a totally different gynecologist because these people are incompetent. I'm eight weeks postpartum and the placenta IS STILL IN ME. They prescribed me Cytotec twice to try to get the placenta out and it didn't work. Now, Garden OB/GYN offered to monitor the placenta via sonograms every two weeks in case it miraculously disappears. I have a baby to take care of and will not waste time and money seeing them that frequently just to hear it's still there and be more aggravated. They also offered to do the D&C in their office but I don't trust them because I suffered from uterine atony and hemorrhaging during child birth and I'm at risk of that happening again. In summary, if you want your pregnancy and child birth to involve as little stress as possible, please avoid this place. I should've listened to the multiple people who warned me about them (family members, friends, even doctors and nurses that I know). They run this place like a factory. The doctors don't seem to care or handle your concerns and just push you out so they can get onto the next patient. The workers behind the front desk are some of the most incompetent people I have ever encountered. They seem to always send my prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy, and they make you jump through the hoops to get it to the right place. I even make the girl show me the computer screen with the pharmacy checked off, but I've learned that doesn't matter because they still don't listen. You basically are putting in more work than the workers do there. read more

They do not pay attention to details and are incredibly pushy to have procedures done before even acquiring or suggesting a second opinion. Firstly, front end staff doesn't know how to read an insurance card. I provided them with Multiplan PHCS medical insurance with Cigna pharmacy information printed on the same card. They denied the card saying that was a pharmacy card. I am a pharmacist myself and felt helpless as there is no way I could explain them that it is the medical insurance. I even asked to speak to someone else who is more knowledgeable but in vain. I wish I could speak to some office manager who could have solved the issue. I've actually put off getting an annual exam because my association with this place wasn't good. Finally I cracked and gave them a call, first asking for a virtual appointment since there's a pandemic. They told me since the office is open, they're not doing virtual appointments. The nicer Garden OBGYN clinic on 63rd st IS doing virtual. But don't take my insurance.... This office is noticeably less nice and refuses virtual appointments, which given the current pandemic is a safety issue. We're supposed to be limiting interactions and it worries me that they're ignoring this. I've been trying to cancel my appointment and first waited 16 minutes and now i've been on hold for another 5. This office is AWFUL! I've always had to wait at least over an hour later than my scheduled appt time, prescriptions being sent to the wrong pharmacy (even after I told them multiple times which pharmacy to send it to), given different quotes for the same service out of pocket, front desk staff not knowledgable and quite rude, and MAJOR billing issues. I've spoken to several ppl in billing regarding bogus bills I keep receiving and I have yet to receive a call back from anyone (it's been 2 weeks now). In the process of looking for a new gynecologist as we speak. BEWARE. Even after speaking with the office manager and the billing department, I still keep receiving bogus bills. They assured me that I no longer had a balance and had nothing to worry about because they would update their system reflecting a $0 balance. I called three times and sent two messages on the portal regarding an insurance authorization and was told the office manager would call me back after vacation- did not happen. This practice should be shut down with the way they treat women. Came to Massapequa office on 08/30/21 to confirm my pregnancy and address a pain on the left side Waited in the hall for 30 minutes and then waited 20 minutes undressed in the cold examine room. I asked the ultrasound specialist to check the left side, she said ok and never checked anything. I was called to the doctors office after by PA Minali. To every my question she was googling the answer. The pain I was referring to she said it is probably a ovary syst, which I don't have (confirmed by other OBGYN) and my ovaries are not under the rib cage. It seems like it was her first day practicing. She couldn't tell me how far along I am or my due date or if the embryo is in the uterus. Then she asked the nurse to do the blood work. The nurse missed the veins a few times, took off the gloves, never sanitize her hands, smelled like smoke and asked the other nurse to draw the blood. PA asked me to come back in 3 days for another ultrasound. I tried to make an appointment with the receptionist but the computers were down. This office is a mess. I left with bleeding arms, unanswered questions and unsure if my pregnancy was ectopic. never coming back here. read more

I don't recommend this OB. I just moved from out of state and I should have read the reviews before going. The nurses are really nice, but their administrative side is a hot mess. I didn't want to just write them off after 1 bad experience but had a consistent experience the second time. I couldn't get my birth control filled by them. My pharmacist reached out personally to tell me they had tried reaching them for 1 month 2xs per week and couldn't get a hold of them. Then I tried and tried hard 3xs per week and nothing. I had to go in to tell them and the nurse was so nice and gave me for free a one month sample. I had an extra month to get it figured out. All in all it took a total of 3 months to finally get them to fulfill my request. I've never had this experience with an OB. My BC has to be exact and I can't mess with the timing so this was a bit of a big deal for me read more

If I could give this office negative stars I would. Horrible experience and will never return again, I went in for a routine exam and was seen by PA Sara, the visit went well and she addressed my questions. I was told that I could log onto patient portal to view all of my lab work and sono results, I called the office to let them know I was having trouble getting into the portal and was told the PA would call me back to go over testing since I could not access them. A week went by I never got a call. Called again and yet again another week went by and no returned call, called again this week and was told that they have sent the messages to the PA and that they would have a Dr. Are call me back and yet again no call. Frustrated to say the least, I'll be picking up copies of my tests and take them to another office that hopefully cares to address their patients questions and concerns. read more

Dr Are was my physician for my annual GYN physical at Garden OB/GYN Massapequa. During my examination she asked me my reason for this, pointing to my stomach area. I thought she was referring to my scar from an operation to remove an ovary and fibroid's some 33 years ago, but no, she was referring to a tattoo on my pelvic area below my navel. I was very surprised by this mostly because she asked when and why I got it but she didn't actually say the word tattoo. She just pointed to it. I mean, I don't mind someone commenting on my tattoos, such as "Nice tattoo!" or "When did you get that"? but I've never ever had a doctor even mention anything about my personal appearance in any way in particular a tattoo in a very personal area during an examination. This is just so wrong in so many ways and unprofessional and downright uncomfortable. In addition, she took a telephone call in the middle of my examination from Good Samaritan Hospital about a patient. I could clearly hear the person on the other end asking Dr Are a question about the patient and obviously getting frustrated with Dr Are about a what course of action should take place. This was a bit alarming as well. Finally when I was finished with the exam and a sonogram, why a sonogram I don't know but ok, I went to an office to get the results of the sonogram and Dr Are's explanation of the sonogram was that my uterus was "thick" not too thick but thick? What kind of medical gargin is that? I didn't write this review sooner since I wanted to wait for my PAP tests results before giving my opinion. My opinion of my experience with Dr Are is STAY AWAY from Dr Are and Garden OB/GYN! Find somewhere else to go for your gynecological needs. I will probably make another appointment with another GYN physician sooner than normally necessary if only to be more conclusive of my test results. Update: I've paid 10 dollars towards my ending balance of 24 & change. I now owe 14 & change. The billing department refused to bill my secondary, Medicaid which according to people at Medicaid is wrong. I had a very bad experience at Garden OB/GYN and wrote an appropriate review. I'm sure the public would be interested also that Garden OB/GYN would not bill Medicaid for a patient on Social Security Disability who is existing on $1129 dollars per month. That would be a fine advertisement for the unprofessional services that were provided to me by Garden OB/GYN. In addition, I did repeat my exam and PAP from my GYN at NYU and when I explained my experience at Garden OB/GYN with Dr. Are she agreed that it was outrageous and I should definitely repeat the process so that I could have a more precise and detailed summation of my GYN health. read more
