Food tasted okay, pretty average. The service was great! The waitress was really considerate of what we were wanting to try. I would give this place a better rating, but I got pretty bad stomach pain after

Basil Tempura (front), Dry String Beans and Veggie Ribs
    Andy N.

Mountain View only has one fully vegan restaurant and this is a great one to represent for the veg heads out there. Run by a small family, we felt right at home with their service and great food. We ordered three entrees and some brown rice on the side to share. Each dish was about $16 so average pricing for the area. The Basil Tempura was highly recommended and we did enjoy the spices they used for the dish. I thought it would be a bit crispier given that it's tempura but they do add on a light sauce, making it more of a stir-fry consistency. We also tried their Dry Braised String Beans with Soy Chicken and this was another standout. Like the previous dish, they do go a bit heavier on the sauce than I'd imagine so it's not a fully dry stir-fried dish, but a great one nonetheless. My favorite dish was their veggie ribs which was essentially their take on beef and broccoli. Their use of mushrooms here as the beef was ingenious and the meaty texture of it made it taste very realistic. Thanks Garden Fresh for being the lone fully vegan restaurant in the area. You're definitely a keeper.

I'd been craving vegan orange chicken for weeks, so I was on the hunt for a Chinese restaurant with good vegan/vegetarian options. I'm really glad I stumbled upon Garden Fresh! It has a small, quaint set-up with a mix of small and large tables. The menu was very extensive and there were a lot of delicious choices to choose from! The entrees and appetizers were both quite reasonably priced. Garden Fresh has a great lunch special deal that comes with rice and is only available on weekdays as well. During our visit, we chose the sweet and sour 'pork' along with the orange glazed chick'n and fried rice. Every item was so tasty and everything complemented each other so well! I loved that Garden Fresh included plenty of fresh vegetables and broccoli in each dish, especially since some restaurants tend to skimp on vegetables when ordering a la carte. What I loved the most about our experience was the service. Our server was so sweet and attentive! It was great chatting with her, and she made sure we had everything we needed. It felt like a very homey, comfortable experience. If you're looking for vegan Chinese cuisine in Mountain View/Sunnyvale, this is the place to go!

Gorgeous Basil Tempura!! Love it. Favorite dish here.

Love basil tempura and scallion cakes. I believe I've been coming here for over 20 years. The service is incredible. And the food is served very quickly. The ambience is very casual. They have tables inside and they have a couple of tables outside. It's really a wonderful place. Thank you, Alice for providing this Restaurant for all these years.

    5. General's Chicken

I'd give it 6 stars, if I could! Alice and Robert serve up delicious staples with hearty mock meats. Service with a smile! Don't let the fast casual ambience fool you - this is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever eaten at. My go-to order: Veggie Chicken Chow Mein, Veggie potstickers (steamed), Tofu Delight, General's Veggie Chicken, brown rice Must-try and worth repeat visits!

A delectable meal that isn't overpowering. Stopped in for lunch and was presently surprised. The service was speedy and kind, food was yummy and filling, and overall vibe was filled with love/natural light/and beautiful plants. A fully vegan restaurant that deserves your patronage

Amazing!!! We had a little bit of everything but your vegan heart will thank you!! Wonderful owner /waitress, very quick service

Loved every dish I had this time! The service is wonderful I love the lady who runs this place - she is super polite, kind, and makes my day every time I visit this place. We tried: 1. Hot and sour soup (5/5): It was extremely delicious. Hot and spicy, perfect for the rainy weather. 2. Veggie ribs (5/5): Tastes like soft chewier seitan. We asked for extra spicy, and this was extremely hot! So watch out if you make modifications. 3. Veggie duck (5/5): My favorite! Its a dish I always get because it's super filling (most quantity of mock meat / protein you can get in a dish here). It's batter fried so I often don't eat the "skin" but it's tasty af. We asked for extra spicy but this dish is never spicy no matter what we request . 4. Jasmine tea (5/5): Surprisingly, I love this tea. It was perfect to have this in the winter. Try the veggie ribs, and veggie duck if you're visiting this place for the first time. 2 other options is Kung pao chicken and black pepper chicken - don't forget to ask them to make them spicy!

My visit on 10/13 consisted of an order of crunchy (or crispy? can't remember) sesame vegan chicken, Kung Pao chicken, and a side of white rice. Downed it with some jasmine tea with two slices of cake (chocolate and carrot) and my meal for two was complete. Unfortunately the sesame chicken was not crispy, which cost it a star, I mean what is crispy sesame chicken if it ain't crispy?! Anyway, everything else was delicious. Service was slower than usual but that would be due to the crowd that was consistently coming through the doors and as always service was friendly and courteous. Love the friendliness and hospitality of the owners. Once again, I highly stand by my recommendation.

This was my first time eating vegan Chinese food. I ordered the chow mein and it tasted great! If I didn't know this restaurant was vegan, I wouldn't have known this dish was vegan. Impressive! I highly recommend this place! The service and the ambiance was reasonable!

A casual vegan restaurant in Mountain View. We came here for lunch and prolly the first customer for the day. The staff were not attentive as they were on another call. But, I helped myself with the menu and ordered the food. Ambience -3/5 Service -3/5 Price - 4/5 Food -5/5 - ordered kungpao veggie chicken. The mock chicken was very good and the sauce was very tasty. The brown rice on the side was cooked perfectly and. Implemented the sauce very well. Broccoli and all other veggies was very well cooked and the proportion was just right for a single meal (Asian portions not the American portions). Decently priced

    All vegan. It's mock meat.

Deep red chili oil on top, beef broth underneath that tastes like it actually simmered for hours, tender braised beef, bok choy, scallions, and cilantro finishing it off. Heat builds slowly and stays there, not the cheap instant burn you get at lesser spots. The clear broth version is clean and comforting, more for the purist crowd, but the spicy has way more depth. Noodles are the real deal. Hand pulled in house, chewy with that perfect pull when you bite in, holds up in the broth without going soggy halfway through. You can order different thicknesses, which is the move. The cucumber salad appetizer is a must. Whole cucumber fanned out like a dragon coil, dressed simply with garlic, vinegar, and chili. Crisp, cold, cuts through the spice of the soup perfectly. Get one per person, trust me. Service is fast, prices are fair for what you get, and the bowls come out hot and massive. One of the most legit Lanzhou spots I've had in the Bay. Already planning the next visit.

The Order: Crispy Onigiri Bites -Chopped up pieces of well done pork Chashu with some delicious sauce and fresh green onion, all on top of crispy rice. A great starter. Tonkatsu Udon Deluxe (no spice) -The broth was well balanced. Full of flavor and not too salty. The shrimp tempura wonderful, even though it was slightly submerged so it was as crispy as I hoped. The deluxe comes with a cube of braised pork belly, and it was so tender and sweet. I could eat an entire plate of it! The noodles were perfect, soft and flavorful. The egg was sweet, but I wish I would have eaten it sooner, as I prefer the egg to be a creamier. I definitely recommend the Deluxe. Vegetable Tempura & Broccoli Tempura -A beautiful and tasty assortment of pieces. The corn was a stand out since it was off the Cobb, being held together by the tempura batter. It was delicious, with a batter that was not overly thick. Both were nice side dishes during our dinner. Kurogoma Mochi Ice Cream -The mochi may tend to stick to the paper lining, and picking them up with your fingers can be slightly sticky. The nutty flavor from the black sesame ice cream is fantastic. The pairing with the sweet chewy mochi exterior is a wonderful pairing. Matcha (Green Tea) Ice Cream -Delicious and creamy. Not overly sweet. A nice subtle creamy flavor. A great way to end the meal. The food and the service truly make this place stand out. Everything had a well balanced flavor, with the components to each dish (appetizer/side dish, soup, dessert) having a wonderful flavor journey through each bite, as the various ingredients take turns on center stage as you work your way through each dish. I will be coming back to try more of the menu, and I recommend you do too.

After you get to the register, you'll weigh your bowl, choose your soup, and be given a bracelet with a number on it. You will be given the bill after you finish eating. It definitely gets busy during dinner time so plan ahead and/or join the waitlist in advance. Overall, Zhangliang is one of the most solid malatang spots in the area and it is always a good time when I come here.
