Gwen and her team did a FANTASTIC job in our yard. We wanted to re-do major sections and she did an excellent job of melding the new with the old. We are getting a lot of joy from our new yard! Gwen was great about listening to what we do and do not like and communicating throughout the project. We not only needed to re-do sections of sod and plantings, but we also had a drainage problem they fixed and added a better pathway to the backyard. All the irrigation and new lighting is great! Gwen was a delight to work with. We needed a complete re-do of our backyard and a clean-up/update of our front yard (we have an acre lot). She is such a visionary - we loved the design, using low-maintenance, drought-tolerant plants. We loved how she had her own crew for installation - she was there every day with them, making sure that things were done just right, and the crew cleaned up at the end of each day. We have a 27-year old house, and there were some surprises (mostly irrigation issues), and she took care of it all. She managed the large job well and communicated daily on any updates/changes to the project. We even added some things (pots, fountain) that she helped design and install. She took care of everything - even a few dump runs for us! In addition, she offers seasonal maintenance services to keep the yard looking great, which we will definitely be signing up for. Gwen put together a fantastic backyard design for my new home and I could not be happier. She did a fantastic job listening to my desires and then bringing them together in a creative and beautiful way. We met together twice and did some small revisions to the original design. Gwen was very receptive and collaborative throughout the process. The end product that Gwen produced was a full color, multi-angled drawing of the entire backyard, a virtual walk-through of the finished design, a plant and material list, and dimensions of the design. She was very thorough and gave me everything I need to move forward in implementing the design. To top it off, she not only put something together that I am really excited to see finished, but she did this all at a very reasonable price. My only warning is that she has a very small company and gets quite busy so you have to be patient, but in my opinion it is 100% worth the wait. The landscaping in our yard was done about 25 years ago and over time, plants struggled and died off, became inappropriate for their location, and really needed a rejuvenation. We hired Gwen Green of Garden Artistry to do the work. We are delighted with the entire experience....with Gwen, her team, and the results. The word "artistry" in the name of her business is very appropriate Gwen is an artist and her work reflects her talent. She selects the plants and designs the layout to best support the plants chosen and frame the plantings. Gwen's work included designing a planting plan which included a .pdf with a visual representation for each phase of the work (street front and front patio; 2 side yards; back yard area including raised beds and fruit trees). My husband and I reviewed and discussed the plans, followed by a conversation with Gwen to share our thoughts, gain her feedback, and finalize the plans. Gwen and her team always arrived at the specified date and time and worked steadily to complete each phase. Each time we looked over the ongoing work, Gwen answered all of our questions and spoke about each plant's growing cycle and development in the landscape. Her enthusiasm for our project was inspiring and appreciated. She had a rationale for each plant choice and picked up inspiring plants that were not in the original plan but Gwen rightly thought each would be well suited to the overall design. After spending so much time, energy and money trying to revive my old front yard landscaping I asked the people Redwood Barn who they recommend for planning and installing a drought tolerant , low maintenance landscape in Davis. Garden Artistry was one of their suggestions. I knew what I wanted mostly, and Gwen came for a visit and listened to my wishes for the space. She warned that she was pretty busy but would get back to me eventually. After meeting her I decided she would be worth the wait. She and her team of gardeners arrived and knew just what to do. They were respectful of my old plants and asked before removing anything, worked diligently until the project was completed, and one of them came back on a holiday to make sure that the irrigation was keeping the new plants watered. Green Greene-- the owner-- has an amazing knowledge of native plants that grow well in Davis and she came up with a plan for our yard at a very reasonable price. We had them remove nearly all existing plants and bushes and replace them with plants that are pollinator friendly (for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds). They dug up and improved the soil, and replaced our irrigation system with water efficient drip system. Gwen was very creative and adaptable to finding plants that would work well in different parts of our yard -- some of which is full Sun, part sun, and shady. They were reliable and reasonably priced. We had our garden redone five years ago and it really needed a perk up. Gwen came and listened to what we wanted. She had terrific ideas about the plants and using blue Mexican pebbles. She and her crew pruned the trees that needed it, fertilized the existing plants, amended the soil, added additional sprinklers where needed, and planted a wonderful array of perennials that brightened up the garden. We wanted color, rocks, a mix of levels, and a number of bee / butterfly friendly and drought resistant CA native plants that could withstand extensive morning and mid-day sun.
