My husband Michael and I originally met Fred about 1-/12 years ago when the main garage door spring broke and we could not physically open the 18 foot door ourselves; our cars were in the garage and we couldn't get them out. We contacted Fred for help and he was there so quickly, we could not believe it! Upon meeting Fred, it was within an instant that we saw he was down-to-earth with an immediate focus on the situation. He fixed the spring and everything else fell back into place for my and my husband's day because of Fred being there so fast. A couple of months ago, we contacted Fred for quotations on our main garage door (to have it replaced with a new one) and for support on the three garage doors to our shop in the back (there were issues with each of them as there were no motors to open/close them - I could not even lift one of those doors.) Fast forward to 4 weeks ago where Fred and his partner John installed three motors, one for each of our shop doors, so they would open and close easily. Those motors not only made life easier but they also helped to seal the openings because the motors pushed the doors against the frames, something that was not happening before their motors were installed (previously, those small openings encouraged small animals and bugs to get into the shop). Yesterday, Fred & John and Danny installed our new main garage 18 foot door, which is attached to our home. They were meticulous with their work to have the new door and motor installed. Not only is it a great door, it's so esthetically perfect for curb-appeal. For all 4 garage doors, they open and close with a whisper --- seriously, with a whisper. Fred with Garage Door Commander came out and inspected my old, squeaky garage door. Rather than trying to sell me on components I don't need using scare tactics (like other companies do), Fred inspected each component and explained to me that the components were in great working order, and I just needed a little bit of hinge lubrication to stop the squeaking. He took care of that for me. I had had one of the two major springs replaced three years ago or so by a competitor, and was thinking about replacing the second spring before it fails unexpectedly one day like the first one did. Fred not only replaced the old spring at HALF the cost of the former company I had used, but he also observed that the spring they replaced was the wrong size and was throwing the entire door off balance! He ended up replacing that spring as well for a DEEP discount because he wanted to just make the situation right! GDC is the epitome of customer service from a time I barely remember. They came to our home and knew exactly what our issues were. I contacted garage door doctor, Inquired the process, pricing, read reviews, compared prices and did my homework. They actually sent me to a home-improvement store to save $$, to get the motor and tracking for them to install "who does that"? Two of them showed up, tore down, performed installation of a new insulated door and programmed my phone, loaded up old door to haul off, all in a timely manor. Great guys!! Very professional, showed up on time and went above and beyond replacing all the wiring and explaining thoroughly how the new door works and all its features. They also took the time to give me pricing options and door styles for replacing my existing old doors. I will definitely be calling them to replace them when we are ready to do so.
