This is a pretty large and spacious Gap store in quiet Northbrook Court Mall. We were in the area and the wife took the opportunity to drop in and do a return. They have a lot of merchandise here and the staffers were fine and helpful. We only buy Gap merchandise for the kiddos and it's pricey, so we almost never buy anything from Gap unless it's on sale. There wasn't much going on sale-wise during our visit anyway. Overall, a-ok on this store and their quality brand. read more

This is a fairly large Gap store that's tucked away in the corner of Northbrook Court on the first floor. It's usually pretty quiet and you don't have to wait in line very long. I've recently been able to get quiet a few good finds in the clearance rack. The salespeople are also very helpful and friendly, so I've always had a good experience. When I do buy something here (which is pretty often), it has been a smooth checkout process and they have been really good about applying coupons, Gap rewards, etc. It is one of the few good stores left in this mall! read more

Going here is an experience I will never forget. I don't normally leave reviews but this is an exception. The care that goes into every moment you spend in the store is unlike anything I've ever experienced. They sincerely listen to what you want and make sure you're happy with your selections. Huge variety in clothing. These guys really incredible, they always seem to be more concerned about my happiness rather than making a quick sale. Love this company and especially the people. -10 stars! This store has very deceptive sale practices and a disgustingly rude store manager. I have been a loyal customer at all the Gap Inc stores and was appalled by my most recent experience at this store. I went to the store to purchase sweaters for my toddler. At checkout, the cashier offered an additional discount if I opened the Gap credit card. I have heard this offer numerous times and have always declined. However, yesterday, the cashier told me that they were having a special offer and that I would be getting discounts all year at "ALL FIVE Gap Inc stores". She even specifically listed all the stores I'd be getting discounts at: "gap, old navy, Athleta, banana republic, and online". I agreed and applied for the credit card because I frequently shop at old navy and Athleta. As soon as my credit card application was approved, her story changed - all of a sudden, I would only be receiving discounts at Gap and Banana Republic, and not at old navy or Athleta. I was shocked because that was definitely not what I was signing up for. The other cashier then tried to tell me about other rewards and benefits I'd be getting, and both cashiers proceeded to disagree on the rewards policy. I was politely listening to them going back and forth on the issue when all of a sudden, the Store Manager RUDELY stepped in and told me that I was holding up the line. I was horrified. What on earth ? The only reason the line was held up was because the cashiers duped me into applying for a credit card. My credit score had taken a hit for nothing (I returned the items I purchased and canceled the credit card ), and this awful Manager dared to speak to me so rudely like I was at fault. Disappointed that I couldn't get any help in the gap kids area. I walked up and down the entire store and there was no one to be found. I walked over to the gap side but the only person I saw was helping a customer at the cash register. This was my first time coming to this gap so it was quite a disappointment. It's been a long time since I received such poor service over the phone. I called to find out if this store had a couple items I saw on the website. What should have been a 3 minute conversation turned into a 22 minute phone call and this review. The person I spoke with initially was rude and cut me off before putting me on hold. The next person I spoke with seemed to be clueless. I don't know who is in charge, but it seems there are serious issues at this location and I will tell as many people as know to avoid this location. read more

Went to gap recently. Their selection is unbeatable, the staff is almost always on point, the quality is good, and the price is outstanding! I just picked up a new pair of jeans and 2 shirts. They offer some great deal. And a wide selection of items to choose from. And I love the style here. I been shopping here ever since when I needed to bought a clothes. Friendly and helpful staff here. Very personable and willing to help you at all times and very knowledgeable to the product, they know how to respond to all of your questions. Where's Chris Farley, David Spade, and Adam Sandler in drag when you need them? Their "Gap Girls" would definitely be an improvement. If your dont get that fresh and quippy comment its from an old SNL skit when that show used to be funny. This store def can use it cuz it's short staffed and the people who are working are grumps. The selection isn't slamming its kinda small and only has the *very* basics so sometimes there's a t-shirt or khakis in your size. I kinda feel like the Gaps elsewhere have more variations of their staples. It's funny the pictures posted on this Yelp entry for this Gap are all ones in street scenes Chicago and accessible by road. The store its linked to is isolated inside the mall. And not in downtown Chicago. And there's no comedians but it would be better if it were. read more

Yes, I'm bumping up my star from my last review. It's not for the customer service though, because there just isn't any. It's not because of shopping for myself in the grown up section, because I'm sticking with my last review and refuse to put myself through the frustration of not finding what I'm looking for or wading through tons of clothes in sizes that make no sense. But... Dun dun dunnnnnn, Hallelujah chorus, I really like the side for kids! I popped in the store yesterday because my boys begged me for clothing that didn't consist of track pants (double high-fiving in the air right now), and they were determined to find cool trouser skinny pants to complete their now stated skater look preference. In my opinion, there is no better place for a good quality trouser pant than Gap. Right away we found what we were looking for for my non-picky son, and my other son just needs a different size in their black pants. Just to prove how much I was happy with my experience, I'm willing to try other Gap stores to search for the other pants. How's that for a turnaround comeback from my last review? Huh? Pants are still the same great quality with detailed stitching and seemingly durable soft fabric. We tried H&M across the way for some black pants but ended up coming back here twice in hopes of finding something - anything. Can't beat Gap quality for kids. Note: My kids are turning nine and are fairly tall, and here they wear a size 12, so be prepared for unique sizing. The renovation is super nice. Store was clean, organized, bright and cheery new. The dressing rooms are oversized with bright lights and come with a cute funky chair to sit in. Can't wait to buy more clothes here for my kids. read more

I haven't shopped at gap much in my life. But I went in today looking for jeans. The entire time I was there, not a single person acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. I didn't even see any employees while I was there till I was in line to check out. I struggled to find what I needed, and finally settled on something before checking out. Once at the counter I finally got the opportunity to ask a sales person a question, and this experience is the entire reason I'm giving this store three stars. Bill at this location was a huge help to me when I needed help and went out of his way to get me a different size once I was ready to check out. I was overall disappointed in my experience here, but Bill definitely changed my opinion! Hoping to see this location improve. read more

I think I have some light to shed on the first reviewer's bad experience: it's in northbrook. I'm not trying to make a sweeping generlization (ok, it is one), but a lot of this location's customers are equally as um, difficult, as the staff. it seems it goes with the territory. that said, you can find some ok sales & clearance here. now that gap body is appealing to the teen crowd, the mark-down bin is hit or miss. when it's good, it'd great! ($6 bras in my fave style & pink too!) my advice is to go in there w attitude & you'll get better service & *won't* be scoffed at for using coupons. hint: all the prissy folks are using coupons too, & why do you think it's slimmer pickins in clearance? the clientele here isn't dumb, but they can be snobby. read more

Good old Gap! I love their clothing for my son! I think the sizing is perfect and the quality is great! They are always running great sales, so it makes r affordable when he only wears it once or twice before he outgrows it. I've been to several gap locations, and I would have to say this is one of my least favorites. I feel as if it's a smaller kids section, and they invested more space into "big kids" vs the pre-tot section. I walked in today looking for button downs and variety of pants in size 12-18 and walked out with 3 shirts and 1 pair of pants. Let me add I purchased all the shirts that were available to me. I would think since it's the season, they would be stocking up on them. The next issue I have with this location is that I had to wait nearly 25mins to check out with my 4 items. They never have the register open in the kids section, which means I need to go to the woman's side, and that line is always super long. I understand if you don't want to have people stationed at multiple locations, but if you have a line of more than 4 people, don't you think you should open up another register- maybe even 2. read more

Totally disgusted with this location. They never have enough personnel and you can wait forever to get any type of service. Went in today to purchase one scarf. There were two people in front of me in line and I waited over a half hour to make the purchase! Not the staff's fault that they wanted to quibble about coupons and returns but it is their fault that they only had two staff people working the check out. Now this is BEFORE Christmas, I seriously don't understand why the people with returns and exchanges couldn't be assisted by a specialist and those of us trying to make a simple purchase couldn't be rung up quickly and efficiently. I like Gap's quality for the price you pay. I like the way their jeans and polos fit. If you can wait for a sale, then you got yourself a good deal. They usually have 30% off everything every few months and 40% off everything once or twice a year. Kids clothes could get pricey. Again, wait for a sale. read more

Skip this lousy Gap, especially if you need underwear or sales help in any way. I Should have read previous reviews or I would have avoided this Gap, its downright rude manager, lack of sales help, and spotty size availability. If you can deal with self-service while shopping for women's clothing, down to opening and closing display drawers to find items, sitting on the floor to root through sales bins (because that's what you have to do), and re-dressing every time you need to hunt down a dif size or style, then you'll be ok shopping here. However, given the lack of sales help here, Gap should deeply discount the clothing, a la Loehmann's. All they need to do is add a communal dressing room, and they'll be all set. This is only the beginning of the store's dismal offerings and customer orientation... After struggling to find ANY panties in Large, sprinkled amid the hundreds of XS, S & XLs (there were a few mediums- yay) arranged in the full-price displays and piled into sales baskets, I took what I could find and got out. But that's where the fun began. Nary a salesperson was to be seen or found in the Gap Body room the entire time I was shopping. So I trooped to the cashier stand with my meager findings and decided to ask the portly, crop-haired woman at the counter about inventory. (Think SNL "That's Pat.") Silly me for thinking that this efficient & busy-busy woman might deign to make time for me, a mere customer, who smiled and asked the following reasonable question: "Hi. I'm curious why I couldn't find any panties in size Large?" She brusquely scanned my items, stared me in the eye and intoned the following: "Corporate doesn't send us many large sizes because our customer base doesn't wear them." Brazenly lousy customer orientation, I'd say. Not being shy or put off by this rude and confrontational style, I proceeded to regale her with my experience in the self-service Gap Body part of the store and orient her to her actual inventory, namely the 4 bins organized and filled with XS, S, A few mediums, and then 2 other bins filled with XL panties. No Larges. Unwilling to back down, apologize, or fulfill a customer's needs, she told me that she should know what their inventory is because she does the ordering and that there were no large sizes because corporate doesn't send them any. Indeed, her rudeness took away my breath. I would have continued the confrontation except for the fact that there were other people in line behind me, and of course there was only one person checking out customers. So I concluded by suggesting she take a look at the bins and tally the sizes. Particularly I said she still has quite a load of XLs! Horrors. Oddly, on a completely different occasion, I learned subsequently that my boyfriend had a similarly awkward and confrontational experience with a salesperson at this very same Gap. Clearly I will never shop there again. Instead, I traipsed down the corridor, found Victoria's Secret, and had a lovely time shopping for $500 worth of beautiful undies, bras that really fit, and yes, a variety of lovely panties in the Medium & Large sizes! read more

I never shop at gap...I happened to be at Northbrook Court with my mom and sister and they dragged me in. I was pleasantly surprised by all the cute fall merchandise they had. Thats where anything even remotely pleasant stopped...This store has some of the rudest salespeople I've ever encountered in my life...in ANY store. I could not believe Gap would employ these people...for the love of god, people at the DMV are nicer then these workers. No wonder people do all their shopping online now...don't have to deal with a**hole, rude, employees. They were an embarrassment to Gap, especially the older middle aged women with gray hair who looked at my mom like she had 5 heads when she asked when her GAP cash expired...this broad didn't answer her...literally stared at her for a minute or 2 and then walked away?!?!? read more
