I'll start with the good. Very nice dining room, spacious and well appointed. Beautiful views of the waterfront. The servers were very friendly and generally attentive (until it came time to pay the bill and we eventually had to go out to the bar).
The pappadams were excellent. Paddadams are pappadams but it came with five very generous chutnies and sauces and they all had unique and complex flavors.
As someone else mentioned, they do not have an alcohol license but the fresh juices were a pleasant surprise. I had an apple juice which tasted like a fresh apple in the glass.
Should have stopped there as things started going downhill. For starter we had a crab wrapped in pastry that was disappointing, not much flavor and a small portion. The cheese kebab (paneer ka tikka) was better but again small portion size.
The mains brought the review down another star. Everything was extremely bland. Chicken marsala had very little flavor. A lamb dish, silver kaliya, sounded great and did have a unique flavor (I believe cardamon), but very little lamb and although unique the flavor wasn't great. We also had the spicy tandoori lamb chops but the lamb was over cooked and the spicy sauce (which was so spicy was served on the side) actually was not at all spicy and had virtually no flavor.
There are some great Indian options on the island and unfortunately I can't say Gandhi is one of them. read more
