Meatballs, bomb. That salsa, those balls. Take me. Mushrooms topped with crusted/baked Parmesan, it's guilt free for a veggie side. Yes, there's cheese but you're eating cheese on mushrooms, so that's pretty much a salad right there. Potatoes w/ a Creme fraiche like side and peppered tomato sauce. Omg, the goat cheese with honey. If you don't order that, don't even talk to me. Every dish I ate was exceptional and tasty and brought it's own to the table, literally. 10/10 would recommend and probably my favorite restaurant I'd eaten at in Oslo.

However, by 2pm, all the restaurant was full, confirming it's reputation as a hugely popular place. We ordered 5 tapas dishes, which were all apcked with flavour and freshly prepared. I had expected the level of the food to be somewhat below the tapas restauarnts in Palma, Mallorca, which I visited recently and was much impressed with, but Delicatessen really surprised me with dishes just as good, if not even better than what I have tasted in Spain. My favourite dish was the fried artichoke hearts with saffron orange aioli - I would come back just for this one dish. The homemade sausages with lemony quinoa were also excellent, and the chorizo and manchego tortilla was the fluffiest omelette I have ever eaten. The croquetas (not really a dish, but a snack of two small pieces with dipping sauce) were also superb. The meatballs in tomato sauce was the least exciting dish, but still good. Delicatessen is, not surprisingly given it's location, a fairly expensive place, but you still get your money's worth of good food prepared from quality ingredients - I would definitely like to come back.

We tried the boquerones and the Argentinean shrimp. As another reviewer noted, the way they reheat items leaves them cold in the middle and soggy on the bottom. This was quite noticeable with the boquerones. The shrimp was better, but for the price (nearly $10 CDN) we got 2.25 shrimps, kind of a rip off. The olives were nothing special, same style as we get at home in a jar stuffed with pimento, and about as good, for $7 CDN. I noticed better looking olives on offer elsewhere in Mathallen. Service was pretty good and the seating was comfortable. Just wish the food was better!

The duck confit was so tender and just salty enough. The shrimps were perfectly executed. The were plump and juicy, with still a firmness on the bite. They were shrouded with garlic magic and other spices. The foie gras was crisp on the outside and messy on the inside, my perfect way to eat it. I did find the pepper to be a slightly odd choice for this one, but it was still delicious.
