I called ahead to ask about selling my PS5 for cash. The employee told me they buy consoles for cash and said I could get an estimate from their website. Based on that, I drove to the store. After I arrived, I placed my PS5 on the counter and went back to my car to grab the controller. When I came back, the employee had already moved it behind the counter. That's when he told me it had been a slow day and they didn't have much cash available. Instead, he offered to pay me with a prepaid debit card that I could use at an ATM in the plaza or send the payment through Venmo. That wasn't what I was told over the phone, and it wasn't what I drove there for. If the store can't consistently pay in cash, they should let customers know before asking them to come in. It would save people time and frustration. Definitely will not be going back to this business or purchase anything from here. I have a GameStop credit from when I sold a game here from a few months ago which I'll probably just throw away cause I don't want to deal with that kind of environment, but if that's your style, go for it. read more

As a collector of TCG cards I'm always looking to see if I can I get my hands on product. Today I was looking for One Piece & Pokemon. I had great service from the part time employee Matthew who checked me out at the counter where I purchased some Pokemon TCG. My complaint here is about the manager on duty, who was chatting it up with a friend and when I asked for any one piece while Matthew was checking for me as any good customer device rep would, the manager on duty didn't even let him check just dismissing the fact that Matthew was checking for me. It was nice of Matthew to check where they keep their hidden packs for employees or holds, but he didn't have the chance to finish due to the rude manager on duty on 4/07 at 6:15pm. I haven't gamed in a long time I just had my second son and was so excited to finally enjoy some time with my new Xbox. But instead, it's been nothing but frustration. The only games I bought was Modern Warfare 3, gta 5 that's only for the other Xbox, and Cyberpunk which don't even work. Modern Warfare 3 keeps showing a system error! On top of that, the controller I bought from GameStop didn't work either. When I tried to return them (before the deadline), the store refused. I also find it funny that they didn't need any ID to sell me these items, but whe i vent to return them, suddenly I needed ID - and they wouldn't accept my passport, even though it's an official government-issued ID. The worker never mentioned my Xbox couldn't even play the game they sold me. Now I'm stuck with junk I can't use, and I feel dismissed, discriminated against, and completely let down as a customer. read more

If Gamestop wants to seriously promote the card grading with PSA part of their business, they need to train their employees on how to handle collectible cards that could be worth a substantial amount of money. Came here to get cards graded. They were prepped in sleeves in a semi rigid holder per PSA. The lady handling the cards treated them like they were playing cards. Pressing the cards down with her thumb, bending the cards when placing them on the table. Stacking them and constantly taping the stack on the table like you would playing cards. Definitely didn't handle with care. I'm hoping there wasn't enough rough handling to affect the grade. We shall see. read more

I wish there was a an option to choose no star! The communication, staffing and management was done extremely poor. Today was the release date for Pokemon TCG Blooming Waters. At 9am there was a line which was expected. The employee arrived around 9:40am, announcing that she will be giving out tags and that it is one Pokemon product per person. From 9:40am to 11am, there were a bunch of people who cut in line which no one regulated. She then said there were no more Pokemon products but you can get a promo card before the door opens. When the door opened at 11am, we start seeing people walking out with 2 boxes per customer. It looked like she just want to get rid of the people in the line instead of ensuring the customers who lined can get something and as many customers as possible. Her attitude was poor, kept saying it is not her problem that people cut in line and she was told that she can decide how she wants to distribute the product. She was saying I am sorry in a condescending demeanor, like too bad so sad but not my problem. I understand to you this is just a job and it is a lot of pressure working solo when there's a line of enthusiasts waiting to make their purchases. In addition, she told customers that we should have reserved it online, but the website clearly said in store only!! She said they got less shipment because other stores took their shipment to supply the reserved customers. Again, saying not her fault and not her problem. This sounds more like someone was withholding inventories for personal gain. It is not like GameStop price is cheaper, but to me it is safer where I don't expect a fight to break out but I didn't think I would get cheated out of getting at least one box of blooming waters. I know this would not stop people from lining up or purchasing from GameStop but at least now you know what to expect. If you want to get the next release, you need to show up at 3am, heck go out and camp out there 2 days before. This is how you will prevent the worker lying to you about inventories, decides against her own words and start selling more to get rid of all of you. read more

Usually found inside malls,this is a stand alone shop hidden in a corner along the outskirts of the West Covina Filipino district with a whole lot of parking. Most of their shops carry just games and nothing else.This place has some very cool collectibles for sale inside a plexiglass case,items I haven't seen before.They also carry Pop Vinyl and Walking Dead tees,nice.All of this jumps out at you as soon as you walk in the store,it was kinda overwhelming.What was supposed to be a game run with my nephew, turned out to be spending frenzy like it was going out of style.Darn you Game Stop,Smeagol and I now have to find a spot in our man cave for our "Precious"This is one shop I will definitely be coming back to again and again,over and over. Lil backstory, I received an email gift card from a friend. For some odd reason it got sent to herself and she provided me with screenshots of card number and pin. This happened Tuesday April 25, around 7:20pm. So I went in to get one of the last 2 copies of "the last of us part 1" for PS5. Associate was not able to help me redeem gift card to buy my game. He was a 5.5 male with long hair and glasses. He was not helping at all. Didn't even bother to check with anyone else or a higher up person than himself. PATHETIC SERVICE. Went to this Gamestop location because the one on North Azusa has horrible customer service. I had not been to this GameStop in a while and was pleasantly surprised! Greeted at the door by Tara, she was making sure all shoppers were safe and that the store was not overcrowded. Jason our cashier was great at gathering the items we wanted and making suggestions for others. Tara and Jason both made my shopping experience perfect. What a difference between this Azuza West Covina location and the North Azusa location. Night and day customer service. Went to the West Covina store want to trade in a game and was told the game still have some plastic warp on the game and can't trade in the game. I want to clean out the plastic and they said unfortunately I can't do that because he already scan it into the system either go to another store or come back next time. I purchased a preowned Nintendo switch yesterday and went to go pick it up at the store. When I brought it home I open the box and pulled the console out and saw there's multiple scratches on the screen and dirt so I place it back in the box. When returning to the store today, I asked to return the item and the employee (Cesar) told me that he couldn't find the power adapter. I let him know that the box was exactly how I bought it yesterday and that I only ever took the console out. Everything that was in their was how the device was given to me yesterday. I even purchased the warranty. Cesar so rudely explained he would not return the switch for me and there was nothing else I could do and no one else I could speak to regarding the issue. He said he wasn't going to have this be "on him". So now not only did I have a switch in poor condition but it was also without the power adaptor. Despite the fault being on the store, Cesar made it clear, as the manager, he had wiped his hands clean from this issue. Called customer service and they provided me a return slip to return the item with a full refund, no questions asked. Don't recommend buying preowned--just spend the extra $50 and get something new, but if you do: make sure they open the box in front of you and show you everything that is in it before you leave the store, and if you have to deal with Cesar..sorry read more

I pre order Horizon two weeks ago. I called them to see if they were gonna release it early instead of Tuesday, they said were giving numbers at 6 and start giving it at 9pm. Cool I didn't go to get a number but I get there at 9:05 and of course they're closing I ask the guy why cause they said 9 they'll start selling it: "oh no one came so we're closing" WTF bro you said it'll start at 9?????!!! I could of gotten it from Amazon for much less (47$) or from the PlayStation for the same prize!! Very disappointed. I learn my lesson read more

Went to purchase Jump Force everything went well up until I got home and was ready to play, opened up my game (that was wrapped) to find out there was no disc!!!! Called them, they told me to come in..Once I was there they tried making it a big deal on why there'd be a missing disc if it was brand new and wrapped which Is bullshit I don't need to steal your disc!! The other employee, a female was just sitting behind the counter on her cell phone and disregarding the other customers in the store. My son was waiting patiently behind the customer being helped, but the woman continued texting on her cell phone and ignored him.
