Absolutely terrible service. Employees ignored and seemed annoyed to answer my question about a product that says to be in stock on the website. This place used to be great and I understand overtime the culture has changed but that should be all the more reason to have good service for customers willing to come in person and shop. Brought my son here to buy trading cards. He waited outside about 15-20 minutes before I drove over to find out the problem. The store was closed with a note that the worker was "on break". I understand if someone is working solo and needs to run out for something or take a short break so I told my son we would wait a few minutes. Within 10 minutes a call pulls in and TWO young men get out with soda cups (as if they'd just finished a meal). They walk to the GameStop door and unlock it. Another couple who had been waiting in the parking lot walk up to the door so I told my son to get out too. BUT THEY LOCKED THE DOOR AND TOLD THE COUPLE THEY WERE STILL ON BREAK. The woman was very angry and banging on the door. They said they had a full hour break. They were laughing at her from inside. I didn't want to wait any longer (I didn't know when their hour had started), so my son got in the car and we left. This is an embarrassment to the GameStop chain. Who is the manager of the store? Who trained these employees? If there is a policy that they MUST get an hour break (which I don't think is the law for part-time, hourly workers - assuming that is their role), why on earth would they both take break at the same time and leave the store unstaffed? And knowing at least two customers were waiting, shouldn't the employees assist them above all else? In all, a very negative experience that ended a nice evening with my son on a bad note. read more

Kristin's crew assessed that I was just a holiday shopper and took full advantage of my situation. First, they sold me a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 knowing full right well that the game is under recall due to major malfunctions. 'did not even ask for my money back -begged them to do an exchange so my kid could have a holiday gif to enjoy and they refused to even consider it. Second: They sold me four Roblox gift cards and only activated ONE - probably to get me off the line to grab money off of the next customer. Returned to the store the day after Christmas 48 hours later - they acted like never saw me before and offered me zero assistance on any of my issues. This is a bit more of a friendly "gamestop" location when compared to the chain of stores that I have been visiting across the US for the past 15 plus years now. This, the Nanuet location, has a helpful and friendly staff that is usually found in the "MOM and POP" type, video rental stores/locations. You forget that you are in a CHAIN store, when interacting with a group of eclectic and smart employees that will always be honest and never try to up-sale you as a customer. I have never asked a video game related question, without receiving a perfect answer from the hired help here. :) All gamestop stores tend to give customers VERY LOW trade in values when trading in video games. To get maximum value when trading in a game(s)... always remember to trade in for Store Credit and not CASH. Wait for a special where trade ins receive bonus/additional store credit. This is the best advice to maximize your personal TRADE IN experience. Nanuet's location is just another store, part of a large CHAIN of stores... therefore, keep in mind that Nanuet is only following the trade in values set by the company executives and it is not store location based. Plenty of parking.... Open 10am-9pm weekdays and I think maybe 10pm close on weekends.... My least favorite Gamestop in the area by far! To be fair the staff most likely has changed drastically since I was there in early 2013 but man did I not like them... They had that "I know more than you" attitude along with "their opinion has more value than yours" attitude. You are entitled to your opinion but they just came off too rude about it. These guys were just awesome. i had a bad taste in my mouth from an experience with another local shop, but these guys met me with a smile and helped me with every aspect of the visit there. They knew about all the games, systems, and promos. Every employee made me feel at home, smiles all around, and i genuinely had a good time there. Not once did i feel like just another customer. I think it was the manager who i mainly spoke with and he was just freaking awesome. i would also like to note a small thing that i noticed which made me feel really good. When i first got there, i was greated by 2 employes. When i was looking around for games to get, one of the mens shift seemed to be over, but he made it a point to come talk to me for a second and ask if theres anything else he can do for me. My experience here was so exceptional, that I was compelled to write a letter to the CEO of Gamestop. An excerpt of the letter reads: " In a tiny little shopping center located on Route 59 near the intersection of route 304, Nanuet NY, exists a 500 square foot GameStop where one young assistant manager rose above all others and showed me that customer service is not dead in the twenty first century. His name is #####, and out of all the persons I have ever dealt with at your stores, he is one exceptional employee. You see, in the recent GameStop/Cricket Wireless agreement, very few stores were prepared to begin training and offering the wireless service (this is what I was told by other stores). However, Mr. #### went ahead and self-trained to meet the needs of his customers, your clients. Not only did he become knowledgeable in this new process, he's become the new face and go-to person in the region for all things GameStop/Cricket Wireless. After a quick phone call, I went ahead and drove 45 minutes to his store so that I could activate my phone before the holidays. As soon as I got to the store, Mr. #### gave me his undivided attention, and put 150% effort in helping me get the answers to my questions. My particular transaction was a bit difficult, as I need to transfer multiple lines, and ensure that specific lines would be handled properly so that my monthly bill's reflected the correct plan. The process was not as smooth as we would have liked due to a hiccup with the Cricket Wireless interface, and caused a two hour delay. However, throughout all of this, Mr. #### handled it like a true champion. The problem with most game stops is that they are run by a bunch of kids that could care less if the customer comes back. They target kids and know that its the kids really doing the buying not the parents. Parents basically slide the credit card. This particular location has seen the last of me. During Hurricane Sandy, this store was closed due to a power outage, which is understandable. However, at the same time a really hot game came out that my son pre-ordered. Everyone that did not order the game from this particular game stop had their game, but not my son. He had to wait a week for game stop nanuet to get power back to pick up his game. The manager could have shown good customer service by taking all those pre orders to a sister store and made it available for pickup there, instead of having customers wait for his store to get power back. A simple note on the store entrance door would have notified patrons of the change in pick up location and everybody would have been happy. It 's not the game that was important, it was the lack of customer service. My son learned a big lesson, which was a positive. He learned never to pre order anything from game stop again. He hasn't been in a game stop since. Amen to that people....keepin it real! read more
