Brought my girlfriend in to find more cards for our decks, and she had an unusual experience this time.. Cashier spent way too long mansplaining the difference between japanese and american card sleeves to her... which is funny because my girlfriend works full time at a nearby shop selling cards. Then he made a joke about her unusual name and insinuated she stole the one full art card she had brought in to trade. She said it made her feel very awkward and out of place just because she's a woman... We've been several times before with no issues but it was a really disappointing and weird trip this time. read more

Me and my friend have been coming to this store to buy and sell Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, but our experience has been bad enough that we'll never come back. We brought in high-value Pokémon cards -- including a $300 Mewtwo from the new Destined Rivals set -- and were told it was only worth a fraction of the value because of a nearly invisible scratch. We were offered just $400 total for a group of cards worth around $800. We also brought in Yu-Gi-Oh! cards worth over $130, including an $80 card, and were offered only $17 for all of them. The staff claimed they use TCGPlayer to check prices, but when we used the same app ourselves, their offers didn't come close to market value. We even bought a $200 Japanese booster box, and later found out it sells for around $80 online -- and it didn't come sealed in the official plastic. We pulled nothing from it, not even a single holo or full art, which was suspicious. The customer service is extremely unprofessional. We've been ignored while trying to ask questions, and in one case, an employee responded to me with a slur when I asked a simple question about what the store sold. I'm a minor, and that interaction stuck with me -- it was disrespectful and unnecessary. Some of the employees are also rude or sarcastic when responding to customers, especially if you challenge the price they offer you. The only person who's ever been respectful to us was a tall, light-skinned guy with an afro. He actually said "thank you" and treated us like we mattered. Everyone else made us feel like a joke. This place lowballs on purpose and doesn't treat young customers with any respect. If you care about your cards and want fair treatment, I'd suggest going anywhere else. read more

Mediocre. When you first enter, you are greeted with nothing and are just watched. Then, I wait in line (which is totally okay) but I see one of the workers resealing a Pokémon Elite Trainer box. It was already opened and he had a gadget for resealing boxess and collections that were previously opened and looted, the resealed. Extremely sad for a business selling cards and collectibles when the things they sell are already opened and resealed. I tried trading my Pokémon cards for some of their cards but the worker acted like I was an inconvenience and told me how my cards were in terrible condition and that they weren't worth more than 6$ and he sounded so angry and annoyed. Then, I said that Ill buy cards instead, so I bought a Talonflame V, Venasaur EX, and Zeraoara V. It came out to 9$. The cards were all bent and curved, the ones on display were cased and you were to pick one and they will give you one from behind the shelf. I received my cards and they were all bent and curved and I was extremely disappointed. I payed 9$ for the cards but all together the value is much much cheaper than that online. Most products were overpriced aswell. Attached are images of the cards I purchased. The quality is sad. They're all slightly bent or curved which makes the value drastically decrease and they are put into sleeves that way when you first purchase it, it doesn't seem bent. Venasaur had it the worst. When I bought the cards, the guy just threw it in front of me, didn't even bother handing it. The images might not show how bent it is but in real life, it is very bent. If you're here to buy cards, go ahead, but don't expect good quality cards and good staff. There were 2 people working. read more

BUYER BEWARE: They open up packs in the collectors tins, take out the good cards and then resell said tins. Unreal that a store in the mall would do something like this. My 10-year-old son came into the store today and purchased a collectors tin of Pokemon cards. The tin was partially wrapped (which should've been a red flag for him) but he purchased it anyway. The packs that were in the tin were all opened and the valuable cards removed. Needless to say, we'll never be shopping at this store again and neither should you. UPDATE: Bryan the manager reached out to me within a couple hours of my original post and we discussed the issue. He was very cordial and we were able to come to a resolution. I sincerely appreciate the gesture and will be back. read more

The people who work here are such bad workers. We walk in here once in a while when at Old Orchard and they NEVER greet anyone or even acknowledge you as a customer. They just stare at you and do their own thing. Yesterday, I came in here with my boyfriend and they stared at us for a minute, didn't say anything, then two people were talking about something on their phone. As we got further towards the back of the store, someone in the back room was speaking EXTREMELY loudly and saying so many swear words. They are so lucky we weren't young kids walking in, because if I was a parent who had young kids, I would have went off. The amount of times the "f word" came out of their mouths was ridiculous. It also smells pretty funky in here, too. Though I think it's the wooden bookshelf-like furniture that all of the games are displayed on. Either way, I don't know why I come in here because I never buy anything and the people are rude and unprofessional. Even if I did like something in here, I wouldn't give then my money. My boyfriend works at a Gamestop and he is friends with many gamers, so he said that's probably why they never say a word to us because they figure we aren't on their level. Love this store. Gamers World carries a variety of board and card games from kid games to fun party games. They have most of the popular new games and the positive is that the staff has played most if not all of the games they carry and can tell you all about them and make great recommendations. Recently I was looking for a fun card game to gift and they recommended Monikers. I could not have gotten a more perfect gift exchange party card game. read more

I found myself in gamers world on a random afternoon one day with 30 minutes to kill. The proprietor welcomes me into the store and we talked games while I pursued the loose card singles. I had a great time in the store. They even threw in an inexpensive card for free, but one I really wanted. Little gestures like that show me they are vested in the community of gamers and this is a place I will happily return to again in the future. read more

Went in here with my husband, we were hoping to find a birthday gift for my friend. The place looks cool until you walk in and realize that the selection is very limited and that the prices are unreasonably high. I saw the exact same games and puzzles on their shelves that I saw in target. The only difference was that everything was at least $5-$10 more expensive for no reason. Nothing was unique, or limited edition. The games and puzzles are literally nothing new or special and can all be found in target, Walmart and amazon. This is a nice local game store. It's a small shop, but they have a good collection of games. They have a selection of sleeves, deck boxes, and cards to purchase. I've seen Pokemon, Magic, and Weiss Swartz for sale there. They possibly have more, but those are the main ones that I'm aware of. What separates this from other Gamers Worlds that I've been too is that about a quarter of the store is tables and chairs. They allow space for you to play games. From card game duals, to board games and D&D sessions. It is nice to have a store that allows this especially when food, parking and public washrooms are very close by. They could label the prices better for the card sleeves and such. Was browsing, and the clerk informed me that I was looking at imports so they were going to be higher than the rest. read more

I cannot emphasize how unprofessionally this store is run. I went in today to buy Pokémon cards for my son and the employees stated they were out. Why were they out? Because they had themselves bought all the packs and were opening them themselves and gushing over how cool the cards were. I noticed a sign next to some action figures stating that they had a sale on Pokémon action figures. I started looking through them when the guy behind the counter said, sorry the sale is over. Nice game store; yes, the staff could be slightly friendlier at times, but they do eventually warm up. These types of places do often attract the more eccentric personalities, so try to be understanding. They have a nice selection of new and used game cards at fair prices and a nice selection of cool games. They also have an events calendar for social gaming at the store; check it out. read more

I just brought my son in here today and I was very upset with how rude the employees are. My son was looking at the Pokémon cards and I was asking a question to the guy behind the counter but he was ignoring me. Turns out he doesn't even work there. How am I suppose to know that? The guy working there was siting right next to him but I couldn't see him from where I was standing and he could clearly hear me. So when I moved a little and saw him, he said in a rude voice, "I'm right here." He didn't even stand up or ask me if I needed help all he cared about was his pokemon game he was playing with. There were tons a people in the store too. My son use to love this store and now doesn't wanna come back there because of how rude people are. read more
