While the advertised sale was a BOGO it didn't work for the shoes I purchased for my granddaughters for school. Eventhough they were almost the exact same pair of Adidas. She had a flat personality wasn't helpful in any way. Too bad it's becoming the norm for retail workers to not try any longer. The shoes were not a good value because I could have ordered from adidas.com and at least got reward points or potential found the same thing on SALE, A SALE that would have actually been REAL instead of a farce to lure you into the store. I did buy the shoes because the girls loved them and I didn't want to break their hearts. Next time I won't suggest to them that we shop famous footwear.

If you hit the buy one get one half sales you can really save. As long as you could use two pairs of shoes. I get most of my kids' shoes here. I can typically find their size in most styles. I have good luck buying work shoes here. I wear black flat sole dress shoes. It can be hard to find comfortable ones but I can usually find something here. I used to shop at the location on University Ave by Kohls but this will probably be my main location since it's so close to work. It is smaller than the University Ave location but there is still ample selection and sizes of shoes. I've been here twice before posting my review and both times have gotten good service from associates.

Everything is really clearly and nicely organized, and it was ridiculously easy to find exactly what I wanted. Attached to here is a large room (looks like they bought out the store next to this store in the strip mall) with lots of newer tables and chairs for game nights. Looks like Dark Vassal Gaming focuses pretty heavily on trading card games and trading card game accessories. I didn't see any board games or figurines or D&D stuff. While they were already sold out of the set we were looking for, the employee was super friendly and helpful and had a very extroverted personality. We ended up finding a different set we hadn't seen before, and we left feeling a bit jealous that this wasn't a place that existed a couple years earlier when I lived in the city. Everything we were browsing seemed to be sold at or pretty close to MSRP. Didn't see any price gouging.

You can also park right outside the doors in case you're loading up something really heavy, so that's a plus-side to the parking. Free parking on Main Street in Oelwein - in case you're unaware. The store itself is pretty awesome. It's not a huge space, so everything is relatively packed together, but it pretty much meets all of the needs that I've ever had. I have no idea how to navigate the store, but if I put effort into it, there are signs and everything, and it's laid-out in a semi-logical way that makes it easy to get around. Every time I've gone in, I've been asked by multiple people if I need any assistance, so they're really quite great about helping you get exactly what you need. While I'm not sure I'd agree that their slogan, "Ace, The Helpful Place" would apply to all Ace Hardware stores, in this case, it actually does. I've come in here with really vague problems or ideas, and they've helped me figure out what I need to get. For this last time, I was looking for an inexpensive way to get cardboard signs into the ground. I haven't been able to find any super-cheap stakes or other metal frames throughout all of Oelwein, so I thought I'd come here. Ace Hardware didn't actually have any type of cheap stake, but they were willing to help me find a better solution that worked for me. They brought me towards metal flag poles that ran less than 50 cents a piece. I bought a ton (they had a huge stock!) to work with, and I have exactly what I need to make my signs. Check-out was super simple and everyone was really friendly. When I need things for my lawn in the future, I'll definitely be back. I wish they had larger stock of things, but it's always had what I needed - or employees were willing to work with me to find an alternative that works just as well or better.

Lucky for me, Allie was right around the corner. She saw my difficulty and she asked me if I'd been measured recently (I had not). She measured me and immediately returned with three bras which she thought would work. Two of them did, and when I asked for a specific style of another bra, she brought one in two sizes and adjusted the straps, etc. She really helped me out and was warm and professional to boot. I ended up leaving with the two bras I'd gone in search of...and maybe also a hot pink one with a matching cheeky. Girl's gotta treat herself from time to time, you know. ;)
