Even aside from the above stuff that, well, makes more sense, there's a table and wall full of incense and a separate sort of smoke shop/head shop within. And if you were worried about not having a device to play your vintage audio formats, they have plenty of those too. Shop staff was super friendly and helpful. They have at least one shop dog - I may have seen a second. She could not be less bothered by visitors. A final note of importance, they're having a moving sale at the time of this writing. When I asked, they weren't sure where they're moving to yet, but expect to go at the end of the year.

No discount given for the items I seemingly just didn't have a few more dollars for when I potentially making an over $30 purchase on about five things... As for returning, so far what I'd bought played good, but what for these rare items if I'm to only be able to exchange what I get for the same title like? And a Restocking Fee also gets charged, so why am I not even allowed credit for what I pay for the item... I deserve a much better rapport that other record stores give me, I give Flipside a lot of business and had when it was farther away at its former location... -- Dave

    Downtown Royal Oak

This one is smack dab in the middle of a great little downtown area called Royal Oak. Cute shops, walkable, cafes, so I guess I had my hopes high the store owners would know what a prized spot they had, next to Detroit, and one of the few vinyl stores in the area. They'd make a killing with the right stock and atmosphere. Bummer. Mediocre on both fronts. Came to Yelp to see that lots of people feel the same way. They don't seem very interested in embodying the audiophile atmosphere of the classically great vinyl shops. They have the sound blaring nicely. But their stock is bare bones. Almost no used high desirability issues. Their jazz section was the most interesting. But dang, almost nothing you'd find on DisCogs for ten bucks cheaper. The store assistance was just one guy in the back who seemed unapproachable. But really once seeing the stock and prices, there wasn't much to bother him for. Maybe it just doesn't have the high patronage to support a lot of effort especially with high rents for retail spaces. I'm sure it's hard to run a business these days. And then guys like me who have never ran a vinyl store come onto Yelp and leave crappy reviews. It must kinda suck. So I'll just say this place is good. Three stars is good. But someone could invest some money and time and make this a very very popular music store. Someone with money has gotta be living in all these new condos in this town. And vinyl is selling more than in decades. UHF could have a renaissance with some TLC. Maybe I'll return later this year and will see it's a different situation in Summer. I wish them well. Support your local vinyl shops!

The store has a good selection of retro and new stuff which was nice. But the biggest issue I had, which I noticed in a lot of reviews, was pricing. Everything was priced well above market. For example: Used GameBoy Advance SP (non-AGS101 screen) $80 bucks, Used Nintendo 2DS (not 2DS XL) $80 which is the same as the brand new price! Most used games were about 20-30% above market pricing when compared on GameStop's site. Not sure if I'll return. I don't mind spending a few bucks more sometimes if it's something I really want or if its harder to find but the pricing was out of wack on just about everything. I know the guy has to make money, but market pricing is so readily available now that it's silly of the owner to not think people will pull out their phone and check the prices online before purchasing.

Upon returning to the store, the owner promptly told me he put it back in the console, that I was mistaken about him keeping it, he also told the police the same thing. Just so happens the security camera in his store does not cover his work bench.
