By the following day my then 2 day old debit card was frozen. Someone had used my card information to attempt a $300+ Amazon purchase. The only other purchase I made with this card was at Wendy's where the card never left my hand. I'm certain either the employees, or lack of security on their register is to blame. But I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon alone with a mission: Magic the Gathering cards. I was looking for Innistrad bundle set (2021), which they did not have. The shopkeeper led me to a small section of the store and they have very limited trading card games available. They had the draft set booster for way over the market price. They had it listed for $139 when TCGPlayer has brand new, factory sealed for $78, and have median pricing ~$103. Maybe it was because I was passive or didn't do in-depth research prior, but I felt hostility from the shopkeeper - like he needed me to make a decision and buy something despite they said they didn't have the bundle set I was looking for or get out. They stood by me as I processed what I should do since they didn't have the bundle set I was looking for. I simply thanked them for their time and left.

Approximately half the store is dedicated to various reading materials like comics, manga, and fiction. The other half is board games, RPGs, and supplies for said games (like mini figs and paints, dice, etc.). Throughout the store you'll also find toys, posters, collectibles, comic/trading card storage, and more. There's a lot to look at, so if you've never been, I recommend giving yourself at least an hour to browse around. This game shop also doubles as a community gathering and event space. There's lots of room and tables/chairs in the back to accommodate gamers who want to come in and play or hang and be social. I'm sure they have many specific goings-on each week (for example, I saw a sign advertising mini fig painting every Monday evening!); you can check out their event calendar on their website. There was also a gender ambivalent restroom and water fountain/water bottle refill station nearby. Some beverages were available for sale near the front. It is also quite obviously a safe space, as I saw in addition to the hanging pride flag an entire section dedicated to queer and trans materials, and an end cap as well for POC and disabled folk. I can't say how much it means to me as a trans person to see this kind of representation clearly on display during a challenging political time. I hadn't gone with the intention of buying anything (isn't that typical? lol) but to be honest, when I saw the queer support they were displaying, I wanted to support them back. It wasn't hard to find a couple things I wanted in order to give them my financial business. If you too prioritize supporting local queer businesses, consider buying from here! I normally wouldn't have been up this far north from where I live, but I was headed to a Yelp Elite event a little early and decided to see what else was in the area. So glad I stopped in here! I'll be back!
