My sister needed a new water heater and this is where we found one. The salesman in the back was very knowledgeable, told us what we needed, and brought the heater up to the front for us. We went to Glaaup Lumber for a water heater. The clerk in plumbing quoted $983. The saleswoman rang up $1119. Why more? Called the plumbing guy. $983. "I guess the price went up." That was a big increase for five minutes. We were afraid to stay: who knows how much it would be by the time the sale was complete. I called Home Depot on the spot. Same item, $729. Bought it from Home Depot. read more

My sister bought a screen door from Gallup Lumber & Supply Co/Ace Hardware. Salesperson Anthony Cleveland assisted my sister whom informed Anthony Cleveland of the specifications required for her front screen door replacement. Anthony Cleveland told my sister that the particular door he was selling to her would fit her mobile home and that "all mobile homes are built with the same specifications". Anthony Cleveland convinced my sister to purchase the door without disclosing any return policy should the door not fit. Long story short the door was a least two and half inches too long. My sisters attempted to return the screen door and met with Willie Rameriz and Anthony Cleveland (whom denied ever selling the screen door to my sister). In fact Anthony Cleveland tried to pin this error on another salesperson). Willie Rameriz meanwhile backed up Anthony Cleveland's outrageous denial. Whatever happened to serving the customer, or the customer is always right? My sister chose to go to Gallup Lumber & Supply simply for the fact that she was in need of help and sought assistance from what she believed was a credible and knowledgeable salesperson. Unfortunately her expectations fell short of what was anticipated. Not only did Willie Ramirez and Anthony Cleveland display unprofessional salesmanship, but also that products sold at Gallup Lumber & Supply are subpar in the realm of hardware products. Anthony Cleveland clearly demonstrated the unethical sales practice of taking advantage of senior adults, in this case women. He denied ever selling my sister the screen door, assisting her and informing her that the door would fit because he believed all doors are built to one standard specification. Willie Ramirez on the other hand backed up Cleveland's lie and obviously condoned such absurd unethical sales practice to occur within his watch at Gallup Lumber & Supply/Ace Hardware. As patrons in the city of Gallup I urge you to refrain from doing business with Gallup Lumber & Supply/Ace Hardware. Do not let your loved ones make large purchases alone especially at Gallup Lumber & Supply/Ace Hardware. Clearly seniors are being taken advantage of. Foremost avoid doing business with unqualified salesmen like Anthony Cleveland and Willie Ramirez. My sister has lost $260 and is stuck with a very long screen door which is no use to her. Mind you, money is not easy to come by especially with a unstable economy which unfortunately appears to be getting worse. You would think folks at Gallup Lumber & Supply/Ace Hardware would be empathetic to that. read more

Gallup Lumber sure has changed since the former owner (Mike) moved out of state. You still get decent-enough customer service (when you can find an employee!) at Gallup Lumber ... but it's quite difficult make a purchase there. Case in point, this morning I had one item to purchase. I stood behind a man who was in the process of paying, then the clerk told me to go to "number seven" and she walked away. This was at register number one -- no others were open. I walked to number seven and there was a man leaning on his cart, talking about some product or other. A clerk and another employee were behind the counter. I waited while they discussed whatever they were discussing and then another man joined the cart guy. All this time I only wanted to pay for ONE ITEM! I stood there awhile and finally threw my intended purchase across the store and left. I sincerely doubt I'll be buying anything there again. It's close to my home so the store is conveniently located, but I'll use extra gas and go to HOME DEPOT from now on. read more

Watch out on "sales". This company will charge you "TAX" on the regular price rather than the sale price of merchandise. You may not notice it because you think the tax will be computed correctly automatically, they charged me 75 "TAX" (should have been 25) on a 297 purchase. Wasn't a mistake - manager said that is what they do, he said there is a disclaimer in their ad that says that, but he couldn't find it when I showed him the ad. read more
