If you plan to visit this beautiful beach, be prepared to drop some $$ on parking as it is scarce throughout the island. Not seeing the ocean in over two years I was in desperate need to have that sand between the toes moment I had been missing. From where I was staying I had many choices of beaches to discover, but I am so glad that it was this one that I did discover. Getting here was a bit tricky for me, but with determination anything is possible. When I arrived to the area where everyone was parking, I see that I was not the only one that had the idea to head the beach that day. I parked and started trekking my way to the beach. It's a beautiful short walk from where you park. Along the way you get to see a lot of the great people that live in the area. Each one of them at least smiled at me as we passed. One even said that it is beautiful back there and I was going to enjoy myself. She did not lie. Like many said, this is an old fort. So there is some history to this place. Which makes it that much more of a beautiful place. As soon as I reached the beach area I didn't look around much, I just b-lined it to the beach, kicked off my shoes and stood there and waited for that rush of water over my feet. The type where you feel shocked because of the temperature difference, but one that relieves all the stress you have been feeling. Nearing sunset this place affords some pretty great pictures to be taken. The pier allows you to venture out onto the water without having to swim your way out. Even though the water is a bright green you can see all the way to the bottom. Man, this is exactly what I needed on a vacation. Sun, sand and surf. Breathing in that salty air really cleared my mind.

Both sides of the small sandy beach are very rocky almost Cliff like. This is the type of beach if you want to get away from everything and everybody it's definitely the place to hide out for a day and enjoy Mother Nature. If you like to explore bring some really good rock climbing shoes as the rocks are slippery and dangerous make sure you do not climb alone. Remember if you do not have a resident parking sticker there is absolutely no parking for blocks and blocks however with a resident sticker there are seven parking spots that's right only seven. If you're lucky enough to come here you can enjoy the view from four park benches located on the grassy area overlooking the beach. For the dog lovers please leave your loved ones at home as no dogs are allowed on this beach it is strictly enforced. I love Canoe Beach as it is one of the last beaches on the North Shore that you can count on nobody being there when you arrive. You will have a private beach all to yourself. So please remember if you plan on climbing on the rocks have somebody with you because they are slippery and dangerous. This is a great beach to enjoy a sunrise or sunset. The local police usually will not bother you on during a sunrise but they will ask you to leave as the sun sets especially if you're parked illegally. Canoe Beach easily gets awarded 5 Stars ‼
