Not only did Rose help me paint this beautiful picture without me having any prior knowledge of oil paints, but when there, I lost my ring and they kept in contact with me to eventually help me find it. They even offered to look through the trash to find it, but thankfully they found it on the floor a bit later. I stopped by yesterday as I was walking around the neighborhood checking out the Farmers Market. I noticed this shop that sold all things lavender! I had to make a stop. I bought one of their lavender orange jam which I plan to use when I make scones. I absolutely love seeing the collection of arts, skincare, and culinary lavender base products. I am certainly going to visit this place again. It was great speaking with the owners. They offer great advice on baking scones and were super friendly. read more

Thanks to Amazon, I got to Gallery's Choice for a necklace making class. While I have worked in glass before this was my first opportunity for this kind of work. I had fun! I can't even say enough good things about Gallery's Choice and do them justice. The product selection is amazing and the pricing is competitive. The classes are amazing and really fun! Rose and Bill (owners) are amazingly friendly, very good artisans, and great teachers. And...this story must be told. My son and I participated in a stained glass lamp class. My son was very particular and careful in creating this lamp 6 years ago. However, before the lamp was finished "life happened" and the project wasn't completed. 5 years later, after they had moved locations, it bothered me that we never completed this nearly done lamp. On a whim I called Bill. He instantly recalled who we were, and when I asked if by chance they had the partially assembled pieced still he said "we sure do"...wow! I went in and worked with Rose to have them finish up the lamp and trusted her to select a perfect base. They did so. For Christmas I had my son with me and told him I had to stop in for a gift I had ordered. Rose and Bill had the lamp under a towel in a workroom. We walked in back to see the "gift" and my son was floored to see it was his lamp! It turned out beautifully. (I added a pic of the event in the photos section) I know this is a long winded story but it exemplifies how amazing Gallery's Choice and their owners are. Bill is a wonderful guy. I see him at the Farmer's Market every time I go, and I always stop by to say hello. He does great work, and I've been happy with everything I've purchased from him. Recently, I bought two melted wine bottle items as a gift (a plate and a bowl). A few hours later, I had both in the same back, I went to pick them up, and one piece tapped the other, breaking off the neck of the bottle. I brought it back to the farmer's market this past weekend to see if he was able to repair it, and instead, he just gave me a brand new one! He didn't even blink an eye. He said he might be able to repurpose the broken one, but he wasn't too worried about it. Bill - thank you for going above and beyond with customer service. It's good business! read more

I really like this gift shop, full of upscale yet not overly expensive art pieces. I got several dichroic glass picture frames here as Christmas presents for friends; the desk clerk was very helpful in packaging them securely (because both had to be mailed), and he was also just nice in general to chat with -- we talked about glass and pottery etc. Nice place; I'll definitely be back for my artistic gift needs. read more

I took a class here making glass pendants through Living Social and it was great. The owners taught the class and did a wonderful job of going through the types of glass, how the pendant is made and whatnot. We were not rushed to finish in our hour they were incredibly helpful and even their daughter helped design. I did love all of the items in the store and I would definitely go back to buy gifts in the future, and take additional classes. I just wanted to give a shout out to Gallery's Choice. I wanted a particular silver charm made, one that uses individual text letters to be stamped into the metal. Rose made one for me custom. And exactly what I wanted. I received this within the week as well. Not only that she made a few other samples, using different shapes of metal, and using the same text so it made my decision even harder. I like that if you bring in an idea they will try to make it for you. Price was good too. Exactly what I wanted to pay. I will be back. Cute Cute shop. Lots to select from. Many classes to take. As good as it gets because they listened to the customers request. And even went above by providing additional samples to choose from. read more

Went in to get my dog's paw set in clay as a present to my boyfriend. We live about a block away so it was convenient. We happened to find out about this place on a scavenger hunt we participated in through Happy Dog Barkery. The people are very nice and the final piece came out great! I have been to Gallery's Choice several times with different groupon and living social deals. Every visit has been an absolute delight! The owners, Rose and Bill, are so kind, friendly, and helpful. They are gifted artists AND effective and patient teachers to anyone of any age, experience level, and aptitude for art. I've learned elsewhere that just because someone can make beautiful art doesn't naturally promise an ability to teach it to others, and in a group setting. If I didn't live so far away, I'd definitely return to take other class series. Gallery's Choice also has lots of classes for kids, and while I've never observed any of these classes, I have to imagine that children would LOVE working with Rose and Bill. The store part of Gallery's Choice has a wonderful collection of art of various media, and it's always changing. Again, if I didn't live so far away, I'd go there often to shop for birthdays and holidays. Something else worth noting is that downtown Downers Grove is lovely. If you go for a class, consider adding in some extra time to window shop or have lunch. Rose and Bill seem to know many of their business neighbors and can make wonderful recommendations of places to dine or shop. I took the pendant class with my sister. The owners are absolutely lovely people and great instructors. I like them and their gallery so much, I am signing up for stained glass classes with them. Also, lots of beautiful art pieces (glass and paintings) for sale at all price points. Great for gifts too! I love this place as it is truly a gem! The shop has something for everyone - Everything offered is original from local Illinois artists. The price range is reasonable and affordable. Not only is there shopping, but also there are fabulous art classes where you get hands-on, personal instruction. I am in my second stained glass class and have embarked on an ambitious project which thanks to the Gallery's Choice instruction is coming along just great. In addition to there being objects d'art to purchase and classes to take, the store does custom stained glass work which must be seen to be believed. Rose and Bill go above and beyond for their customers. I had the idea for my bridal shower to have everyone create a piece and then to put them all together as a stained glass window. Rose and Bill took this idea and ran with it! I worked closely with them creating the design and the colors I wanted used. Then the day of everyone was warmly welcomed and taught how to create a stained glass mosaic (mind you we had people's ages ranging from 20-75). The final product was over 30 4x4 individual squares linked together to create not only a beautiful project, but a way to remember each and every person that was there that day. We signed up our 11 year old for art classes. Once a week, after school. We signed her up for the next session before the first was finished! Among some of the beautiful things they created in class: a ceramic mosaic picture frame, a multi colored glass piece, and watercolor paintings. And they are truly beautiful pieces- not hung up out of obligation! The owners /instructors are patient and nice with the kids. I attended 2 classes. The owners were very accommodating. My mediocre score is due to the lack of organization. On my 1st visit, I was disappointed on how my project turned out. On the 2nd visit, instructions were given that would have helped me , greatly, on my 1st project. When there wasn't enough appropriate glass pieces for me to finish the project , I had questions w/substitutions (I didn't want another disappointing outcome). I think the owner was a bit overwhelmed & she commented that I was "frustrating". Not professional! Part of this experience is to make & take home something you'll enjoy owning. Maybe, in the future, they should have a handout on the worktables, to answer & inform the attendees of the basics. Even, a brief Q&A after reading the handout would help. Having enough glass pieces for the class (too many of one & not enough of another) would also help. read more

This place is AMAZING! I was able to find many many things that looked great in my home. The owners greeted me with kindness and sincerity when I walked in the door. They talked to me and helped me pick out some paintings and some table decorations. They have a ton of things to choose from and everyone was really really nice. A wonderful place to learn a new art! I'd never been artistic, but decided I'd try mosaic lessons here. What a great experience! There weren't other people signed up for the class, so I ended up with one-on-one lessons from the owner. Her and her husband were so very friendly and never once made me feel I was over-extending the class time I paid for when it took me a lot longer to complete my "masterpiece". I was thrilled with the results (it's wonderful) and could have never done it without stopping into Gallery's Choice and signing up for the lessons. I've taken a lot of fusing classes with lots of different instructors, and I would say that Bill and Rose are two of the best. They are helpful and try to be on top of everything, focusing on explaining what we were going to do and how to do it as well as providing a lot of examples.
