A woman seated there indicated that it would not be a problem. However, when I stepped away briefly to retrieve a tool, I was approached by a lab aide and instructed to move, as the table was apparently reserved for RAs. There was no visible signage or indication that the table was designated for that purpose. Additionally, to my understanding, RAs have access to a separate workspace, but they'll use of shared student space--especially during a busy open lab-- is somewhat confusing. Then another RA was complaining how students should know better, which is odd since the other RA said I could sit with her. Overall, the situation felt unclear, unwelcoming and rude.

I'm leaving with a newfound respect for pottery, and so absolutely impressed with the management of this studio. Since ClaySpace is a nonprofit, you aren't nickel and dimed for every service, and the people here truly love their craft. Even in simple things like the management of kiln firings, there is such care taken in each step in the process and everyone here, students, instructors and resident artists alike, are just so friendly and helpful as you learn pottery. Fees for courses and supplies are super reasonable, and I am so glad to have found ClaySpace to continue my exploration of pottery.

The complements I receive when I wear her pieces truly make me feel beautiful! Sophia has a way of making each guest that visits her lovely boutique studio feel very special and she listens to make sure you purchase the perfect piece-whether it's for you or a gift for someone special. I've also commissioned several items and they turned out gorgeous! My most favorites are a stunning mosaic necklace with a Jerusalem cross, pearl mosaic ring, and the most dazzling pearl and diamond earrings. It's always such a joy stepping into her boutique and feeling pampered while I browse her unique and spectacular collection of pieces. Each visit is such a treat with new pieces to enjoy!

I had installed it into my present house and my wife and I enjoyed looking at it every time we walked into our bedroom. Last year I noticed the glass was coming out of the leading holding it together. Upon further investigation I realized that the wood frame was rotted on the outside causing the issue. The glass was literally sinking out of the frame. After searching the internet I stumbled across Art Glass and Studio. I'm sure glad I did. Lawrence (Law) was a pleasure to work with! He was honest and realistic about his timeframe for assessing the situation and actually getting the work started and finished. I really appreciated that he let us know that he is a busy guy handling a number of projects at the same time but would give our window his utmost attention when our time came. He gave us plenty of options for the repairs working with our budget and suggesting different methods for reinstallation of the window. The option we chose was to make the window a decorative piece instead of an actual permanent window. That way if we move again or our children want the window to stay in the family after we're gone it will be easier to move it to the next place. When it came time for our window to be worked on, I removed it from our house (my choice to save money) and took it over to his shop. Law started on it and kept us informed as to how it was going. Once started, he finished it quickly and it looks great! In this day and age of "bait and switch" it was such a pleasure to work with someone who actually does what he says and does great work. This window was built around 1870 and thanks to Art Glass and Studio (Law) it should have another 150 years of in it. I highly recommend them

UpRise Tattoos - Just a cool long hallway, lol. There are 2 main hallways, each with tattoo rooms on each side.

I've been to Claire's as a child, and one other tattoo shop that I wasn't impressed with for all of my piercings. I had no idea what an APP certified piercer was until I looked into it, and now I want to scream from the roof tops the importance of going to a piercer with these credentials. It makes a world of a difference. I don't want to talk poorly about the last shop I was at since their proceeds go to charity, but compared to the steps taken and sanitation at UpRise, it's like night and day. UpRise is located in a strip mall, from the outside it looks pretty tiny but it's actually quite large inside. The first thing I noticed was how clean and bright everything was. I know most people think of tattoo shops as being dark and dingy, but this was the exact opposite. They have a beautiful selection of high quality jewelry in a display case up front for you to look at before and during your appointment time if you're undecided. I came in knowing what I wanted for the most part placement and jewelry-wise, but Rylie was still extremely patient and helpful during the process. They never tried to upsell or push certain pieces of jewelry on me, and Rylie offered great insight as to what would look the best for my curation. Sterilization is taken very seriously here which I appreciate-- the longest part of my appointment was probably waiting for my new jewelry to be sterilized but I'm not complaining. Rylie is extremely professional, but is extremely personable and sweet, we yapped the entire time we were together. I only added to my lobes this trip so the pain was minimum, but I'd trust Rylie with my entire being to do a more 'painful' piercing in the future. I walked out with 4 new lobe piercings my first trip, then 1 more 4 weeks after when I got my posts shortened, as well as all new jewelry for each piercing I have (including the old piercings). Everything was bought from UpRise except for the charms on the hoop earrings. I am extremely happy with the turnout, I will definitely be back to UpRise in the future! Be sure to check them out and ask for Rylie! (Piercing context - my pre existing piercings are my first and second lobe, and both helix piercings. The rest were done beautifully by Rylie)

Ukiyo-e means "pictures of the floating world," and this art style features scenes from everyday 17th - 19th-century Japan, like entertainment, kabuki, geisha, etc. This style had an impact on the Impressionists like Van Gogh. This exhibition has the debut of the Chiossone Collection, 53 paintings and woodblock prints of ukiyo-e. Prior to this exhibit, the only ukiyo-e artwork that I would have been familiar with is the famous "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Hokusai. But this exhibit "rides the wave," creating an immersive and multifaceted experience. Not only do you learn about other artists and their works, you can see original paintings and prints, walk-through an Edo-era street, visit an immersive manga/anime exhibit in "2D", make your own print, visit a garden and more. It was a little confusing how to enter the the historical exhibit (we weren't the only ones), but the info is presented in a very approachable way. That Hokusai, what a character -- He changed his name 30 times, He hated to clean so when his living quarters were messy -- he moved -- 93 times! The manga/anime exhibit was very fun -- with the 2D artwork panels created by the 2D restauranteurs. I was also impressed by the many events planned throughout DuPage county -- so many towns participating. The gift shop items were great! The only thing -- we came on a weekday and only ramen and hotdogs were available -- other items available on the weekend. In any case, I was quite impressed with the exhibit -- and I would recommend it for all ages.
