After that there are a few rooms of pertinent information and then they have four rooms upstairs that show what life was life back then. Each room was recreated with artifacts of the time period...and there was a little interactive tablets that explain the different items in the room. A definite stop if you're visiting the island.

This museum is full of WWII history and items as well. Another awesome thing about this facility is that is in front of a lighthouse, and I do believe that there are a total of 130 steps to get to the top. If you love learning about military history like I do, then I highly recommend this place. Also, if you have the strength and stamina to climb those lighthouse stairs, then I highly recommend taking a tour of the lighthouse as well. I plan on visiting again sometime this year.

The setting is under a group ancient oak trees a stones throw from the ocean in Postell Park on Beachview Drive off of Mallory Street. There are plenty of free parking spaces and lots of places near by to shop and dine. I over heard a few of the vendors stating that this was their 15th year showing here and that this antique sale has been going on for 37 years. In 2018 the shows are scheduled for - April 7th - 8th, May  26th - 27th (Memorial Day Weekend), June 23rd - 24th, September 1st - 2nd (Labor Day Weekend), October 6th - 7th, November 3rd - 4th all shows are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday, if you arrive early it won't be a problem it's less crowded although all the vendors may not have all their wares out some will no doubt. It seems the crowds never arrived for this early April show so I can't say if this was a normal crowd or not or if the cool weather kept them away. The quality items are all around the park I was happy to see there were no garage re-sellers onsite and I found the prices were more than fair, but since negotiation is part of the fun they all seemed to know the game and offered some pretty good deals...

It serves as a mini visitor's center, a museum, a gift shop and an art gallery all housed in an actual historic jail. The proprietor lived in the house along with the prisoners. Inmates were allowed outside to catch a breath of fresh air only when the local children were in school. The construction of the building is incredible. The bars, doors, and floors seem completely impenetrable. You can even peruse the records of all the prisoners who were housed there, what their offense was and how much it cost. Funny to see hand written prices of the constable's cost like $1.25 to arrest the criminal, .75 to keep the man before the trial, and .25 to summon witnesses. Just super interesting tid bits of life back in the day. They also have many many more historical artifacts, photos, and reading materials. You can browse through the jail cells, view interesting art, and explore the interesting trinkets in the gift shop. The staff person there was extremely knowledgeable and related wonderful stories and tales of the building's past. They recently acquired a boat/ship that was saved from being destroyed in a marina somewhere in Mississippi. It was painstakingly and beautifully restored.
