The Galleon Marina is THE spot you want to dock at if you boat to Key West. The marina itself is a little rickety, the staff is not the friendliest, and it is very expensive. So why the five stars? Location, location, location. Galleon is just two blocks from Duval Street, and if you know Key West, Duval Street is where it's at. Especially if you go over during Fanstasy Fest. That needs a review of its own!
There are a large number of restaurants right around the boardwalk and along Front Street towards Duval. I can't say enough about the location - you are right in the middle of all the action in Key West. If you take a couple of bikes with you, you will be all set.
The docks are wooden floating docks, so they are a bit unstable. Depending in where you dock there is a bit of a maze of docks you have to walk through to get to land. There is a personal watercraft rental place right on premises, and you can catch the beautiful Key West sunset from anywhere in the marina. If you have a tender you will have access to a lot of smaller islands and harborage areas in relatively calm waters, weather permitting.
I've been two the Galleon Marina twice, and I would not stay in any other place should I be fortunate enough to return to Key West by boat. This is as good as it gets! read more
