I walked in for a mani pedi after getting turned away from another place. After a brief wait, I was taken. One person started and another person finished, but they did a great job. However when I come to Rockland to visit my parents I always make sure I come get my nails done at Galaxy. They are by far the best quality and the gel manicures lasts for weeks. Came in for the first time for a very basic manicure (my nails and clear polish). I should be able to get any manicurist and know they won't draw blood. She nicked my cuticle and it bled. The nail polish job was also really mediocre. For bleeding alone, I have one star and they won't be getting my business again. read more

I am officially over Galaxy Nail. I do not live in the country, but when I have come home to visit the last two times I have been disappointed by my mani pedi. Over Christmas I recall them using a callous machine, which didn't really do much to my feet, so this time I opted for the callous gel and ended up with rough feet when I got home. I actually had to go out and buy a pumice stone to smooth them out myself. Additionally, I had my nails done on a Friday and they were chipped by Sunday - with the supposed new quick dry nail polish that I was told would last even at the beach. Apparently the new owners do not accept gift certificates only a few months old that were purchased with the previous owners. I have been going to this salon for over 15 years and have hundreds of dollars in gift certificates from this past holiday season and was just told they are not accepted and expired two months ago. I don't think that is legal but needless to say they have lost a lot of business because of this unfair practice. read more

I was a loyal customer for three years, but recently it has become clear that it's time to switch salons. The quality and service has gone way downhill in the past year. They've hired some new, YOUNG staff who are sweet, but a bit childish and not trained well. Several weeks in a row my polish was not painted on correctly (missing spots, faded very quickly, would chip within days), UV gel would crack after a few days, etc. when that never happened in the past with them. Clearly something has changed and they are not interested in making it right when I would complain/point it out. It's my mistake for going back again and again, and paying $5 for each nail they had to fix (which is WRONG since it's THEIR product, or the quality of the service provided by the nail tech that is failing- I shouldn't have to pay for those crappy nails/new gel). Lately I have felt rushed, and like they cared more about $5 for a broken nail than my return business. So- now I will not return. A friend recommended Victoria Nails in Nanuet and I LOVE them! Better price for UV Gel, NO CHARGE for broken nails (not only that- but THEIR gel does NOT crack, so no need to even worry about broken nails), and they are SO nice, personable, they do not rush at all, they strive for perfection. Galaxy could be great, but they really need to make improvements, train their new staff correctly, take some pride in their quality & service, and re-think how they treat their customers instead of charging for faulty service. read more
