I had a powered subwoofer stop working that i needed to get repaired in short order. I brought it to Galaxy on a Saturday and asked if it was possible that they could put a rush to looking at it and repairing it. Not only did the find the issue and fix it, there price was reasonable as compared to replacing the entire sub. They had my unit repaired and returned to me within 7 days. Overall i was very satisfied with the work and promptness. read more

I rarely don't like writing bad reviews and will absolutely attempt to work with people. However I brought a tape recorder in for some work and never saw it again. Every time I went in the lady always gave me the run around about oh he haven't gotten to it and than finally telling me it was lost! Never paid for it are even attempted to make it right. I wouldn't recommend doing any business with Galaxy Electronics because after my experience they just simply don't value people property. This went on for two years because I wasn't working in the city locally. Also anyone knows me knows I'm an extremely honest person. read more

I dropped off a simple automotive radio for RCA jacks not working on April 1, 2021; They told me it would take them two weeks to take it apart and they would call me (they have NEVER called in last 6 months but i go over there to Galaxy Electrinics every 2 weeks and they tell me the same thing that "parts are on order" but today when i went there, technician is never there; they are only open thurs-sat if that! Today I asked for my deposit back or at least can she take my phone and take a picture of my radio to prove it has been touched. Initially, she said, "ok, i guess i can do that" but that quickly become "no, i can't do that. I re-emphasized that I didn't need her to touch it; simply take a picture with my phone. As a bonus, it smells like cheech and chong live there the weed smoke smell is so thick. ****update; they refunded half of my deposit and gave me back my broken stereo plus half off any future estimates, which I doubt there will be any more work I will send them. read more

Galaxy has had an item of mine for four months. Not once have they ever called to give me an update on the repair, I always have to call them. Only one time out of ten do they even answer their phone. Apparently they only have one tech working. I have no sympathy, if this is the best you can offer, close your business down. I do not recommend this business. read more

Oh what a horrible experience. I originally came to this place because it was recommended to me by someone at Guitar Center in Elmwood. I was just looking for a reasonably priced repair on one of my speakers. I read the mixed reviews and was on the fence but felt like I was cornered seeing that this is the only official place in the city that services my speaker brand AND guitar center recommended their services. Initially, I was asked to pay a 40$ down payment for them to even look at my speaker and was also told it would take 2-3 weeks to receive an estimate ( which was no problem!) However, after week 4 and calling several times with no answer at the I decided it was time to visit the location and talk to them again. With receipt in hand, I came back and was told I was wrong and that they had told me a month to get an estimate -- A blatant falsehood. I know I was absolutely NOT wrong, I even had my boyfriend with me and he also told me the same time frame, without any prompting. They told me I was wrong and said they had it all on tape. I told them to retrieve the tapes if it was that important to them-- of course they didn't because they had LIED. But I don't appreciate the threats and I will contact the BBB. I just wanted my 40$ and speaker back. After that, a man whom I had never interacted with before came from the back and told me he had already ordered parts and so on. So again I requested my speaker back. They then raised the voices and threaten me again, FINALLY they gave my speaker back to me. Come to find out the speaker was never even opened, as I have stickers on both sides and neither had been moved or cut. Be ware! These people, unfortunately, may have the skills to do repairs, but have no clue how to do business. read more

They'll keep your items forever, charge you for service, and return a product that is still broken. I got tires of returning the same item to them I gave up. They had my item for YEARS! On the bright side they have good taste in politics! RON PAUL! So it hurts a little to give them a bad review. :/ read more

I brought my antique console stereo and record player to Galaxy Electronics, and they informed us about the length of time it would take to get repaired. Understanding that there was only one tech who has the specialized know-how to repair my treasured stereo, we agreed. Yes, the repair took longer than I would have liked; however, I am beyond happy with the work. Not only did the technician restore my treasured stereo, but he also took the time to explain the work to us. I am extremely pleased with the results, and I would not hesitate to bring my stereo or other electronic item there again!! Thank you, Galaxy Electronics!! read more

It was a Saturday. I have an external hard drive that had quit working, or at least the LED lights had stopped coming on. The last local computer tech I had dealt with had gone out of business. Earlier in the morning, Best Buy simply told me they couldn't deal with it as the power supply had a higher amperage then their equipment could deal with. Huh? So I found Galaxy thru Yelp. I drove there. No, they really didn't do hard drives, but they offered to check the power supply for me. Came back, said the power supply was dead. Which in a way was good news, as that implies everything on the hard drive is easily recoverable. Then he tells me where to buy a replacement over the Internet. Claims they can deliver it to the house cheaper than he could sell me one. While waiting, I looked around at what they were servicing. I know now where to take my turntable when it dies again. read more

I took my turntable in for repair 12/08/19. It was ready for pick-up 8/10/20. I called multiple times asking for an update over those 8 months and was told each time that a part was on order. Yes, there was a shutdown but as is clearly stated on their door, they don't believe in coronavirus so they never complied with the shutdown. When I picked up my turntable today It was filthy and the lid is damaged. The lid has 2 deep scratches and appears to have had a heavy cardboard box stacked on it which caused rows of corrugated scuffs over the entire surface. If that isn't infuriating enough, they also spilled glue on it. If you value your stereo equipment please do not take it here. You might never get it or your $40 diagnostic fee back. If you do get it back don't expect it to be as pretty as it was when you dropped it off. read more

Called this place approx. 2 weeks before Christmas and asked how long it would take before they could have a radio/Cd player repaired if I brought it for them to look at. She said it would take 2-4 weeks. I said OK. I just picked up the radio a week ago because it STILL wasn't fixed! This is exactly 3 months after I dropped it off. I had called and talked to the woman about 4 times in this 3 month period. Each time I asked about the radio, she said she'd call me back....and never did. I had to call her back each time I had to check on the status. First, it took 6 weeks before they looked at it. Then they said they had to order parts and it would be fixed right away (in a week or so between ordering parts, receiving them and fixing the radio), 3 more weeks went by with no word on status, so I called. They said they were fixing it and she would call me in a day or so.....3 weeks went by and I got fed up and called again. It still wasn't complete. The radio hadn't even been repaired as she said they were doing 3 weeks prior. This Place is an ABSOLUTE JOKE! When I called and told her I was coming to get the radio regardless of what the status was she said OK. When I got there I got no explanation or offer to have the charges discounted if they could keep it a bit longer (not that I would have). All she said was "Thank You", as if it was not big deal. How these people stay in business, I have no clue. read more

Terrible Customer Service!!! I called this place at around 9:30am one morning because I needed a bass amp repaired quickly for the next morning. I told the lady I was leaving for a gig the next morning and she said that the technician told her he'd look at it and if no parts were needed, it would be done that same day. I dropped the amp off at around 10:30am, paid the deposit, and left thinking I would be ready to roll later that evening. I was told that I would receive a call letting me know the diagnostic at around 1pm. After not getting the call, I called them back. She told me that my amp was on the table and they'd call me back shortly. This was around 4pm...keep in mind, they close at 6pm. After not hearing back from them, I called and got no answer. I then drove out there (30-45 minute drive) only to find my amp exactly where I left it. The lady runs to the back and all I hear is the technician yelling about how "even the elves work at night." She then comes back and tells me my amp won't be ready until the next morning. That clearly wouldn't work for me since I was leaving the next morning. I told her I was taking my amp back to refund me my money. She complained because she thought they should keep the diagnostic deposit. I asked her what was wrong with the amp and she couldn't tell me. Needless to say, the technician NEVER came out to speak with me. After being referred to this place for their great work and customer service, I ended up being completely surprised and utterly dissatisfied. I'll never go there again! read more

Had a bass amp repaired recently, with exceptional results. A bit pricey, but they did an excellent job. On the flip side, I was so satisfied with their work on my bass amp, I brought in a pedal and a stereo receiver that had gone south on me. That was about a month and a half ago. In short, if you need something quick, might want to try a different company, but the results they yield are very satisfying. read more

I took a chance on galaxy because I have had bad luck finding a competant tech to service my tube amplifiers. I brought in two amplifiers for minor service work (inspect one for bias issues, convert the other from KT88s to 6550s and fix the intermittently lighting power switch). Initially, I was relieved to learn James was a certified tech, in the passing weeks, I would discover that a piece of paper on the wall does not make a good tech. The short version: They overcharge hourly rates ($90/hr where other techs in the area charge as little as $50-$70/hr),I was charged for work that explicitly stated I did not want done, and both amps STILL have issues directly related to the poor workmanship at Galaxy. The story: I stated all the issues I wanted addressed. My first update was the first one looked good, but it was dirty and I was asked whether I want it cleaned out. I said I didn't want to spend any money on a working amp (I can spend $10 and 15 min on my own with a can of contact cleaner). The other amp would be ready later. When I arrived to pick up the amps, he proceeded to demonstrate something with one of my amps by turning it on and flipping it off standby without a cabinet or other lad attached. I restrained myself as best as I could that I did not want him to do that and though a simple layperson, even I know running a 100w tube amp without a load is potentially damaging to the amp. He begins a tirade (the third one I heard now since the amp was first dropped off) about how he is a certified tech and knows what he is doing as he indignantly began pointing behind him where I presume his degree was. Aggrevated with the treatment of the amp and the attitude, I took a deep breath and shifted gears to the payment for the services rendered. I had asked his wife at the register that since the first amp had no issues if the inspection fee for that amp could be applied towards the difference on the other amp's balance. I was informed both amps were worked on. It turns out that her meaning was NOT that merely inspecting the amp constitutes labor and is non-refundable (which I could understand), BUT RATHER the amp was "thoroughly cleaned as per MY request". I was now incensed. I specifically stated I had no intention spending money on the working amp. She joined her husband in a chorus of indignation. She loudly contended that she had a tape recording of the conversation. Mind you, a customer walked in moments behind me and neither had a reservation carrying on like this. My first inclination was to confront her with this nonsense and demand she produce this on the spot (knowing that the recording with the "facts" she purported did not exist). Seeing how I lived more than an hour away and that she/they had no problem making a spectacle of themselves in front of another customer, I thought better of it, understanding that losing my temper with the pair who are as ready to lose it themselves might escalate into something that would not be in anybody's interests, I slapped my card on the table and paid $300 to have one amp's jacks and knobs sprayed with some contact cleaner and another amp's bias resistor changed and light switch inspected. I drive the amps an hour away to my location and find immediately that the light switch does not work (flickers on/off) intermittently and the pots on the "cleaned" amp are more scratchy then when I took it there. I called back immediately and reported the issues. As for the light switch, he explained someone previously mis-installing it could have damaged it (THEN WHY NOT CONFIRM THIS ON THE BENCH AND ASK ME TO ORDER AN $8 REPLACEMENT SWITCH?!). As for the pots, he asked to hear them over the phone and once the scratchiness was audibly confirmed, he informed me that sometimes it takes some use to loosen them up or that alternately they are ready to be replaced (AGAIN, WHO'S BEING PAID/JOB IS IT TO INSPECT/FIX THE ISSUES OF THIS *SUPPOSEDLY* REQUESTED WORK?!). Galaxy does offer one-year warranty on repairs, so I do have the option of adding another one or two 3hr. round trips to be informed I have a bad switch and bad pots, which have nothing to do with the "labor", after Captain Electron points at his degree a few more times while he and his wife push my patience to the test (and walk-in customers out the door) or I can chalk up $300 in "labor" + 6hrs total drive time and expense to have an amp's pots not cleaned and a resistor swap as another learning experience about Louisiana amp techs. My sincere advice is for you to find some other business for your repairs. read more

Brought in a cnc driver box to be diagnosed for a possible power supply problem. When I got it back the quote to repair it was more than to replace it. Manufacturer said to send it back for repairs. When they received it and opened it they said the last person to work on it had totally destroyed the device and didn't know what they were doing. There were loose wires with scotch tape on them for one thing. I saw photos. I tried to get in touch with the tech at Galaxy multiple times and was told by the woman who works there that she would find out from him his side of the story.... Never heard back. Very suspect. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any business!!! I would highly recommend not going to this business for any repairs. I took a keyboard there and they told me it would be 3-4 weeks, which is acceptable. 6 weeks later they haven't even looked at it. I go by to pick it up because I decide I can probably fix it myself. (It was only a loose transformer) They older technician calls me impatient and begins verbally harassing me, and then tells his secretary to shut up. This place is absolutely insane. BTW, I ended up fixing my keyboard in less than an hr. read more

You are giving this place $35 for a scam. That's the fee to look at your electronics. I brought my TV to this business on Oct. 5 2017 because of their constant radio adds. 6 weeks later I received a call telling me that the TV needed a part and would cost about $100 more to fix it. At three months I called for status on the TV, I was told the part has not come in yet and it my take awhile. At 6 months I called for status again, again I was told that the part has not arrived yet. A few more calls till the 9th month mark, still the same story. So at this point I drove to their location only to find that they had moved a few blocks away. Went inside the new location and talked to the same women that checked the TV in. When I said I just wanted to pick up the TV she told me that it was at the old location and she would call me when they brought it to the new location. Well that was her usual answer to me every time I called to talk to her. Now its mid September 2018 and I am just giving up on this business but I wanted to let the public know who they are dealing with if they bring the electronics to Galaxy. Beware! read more

Unreal the actions that took place today...Owner lost his mind on me and my girl and attacked us both with punches and scratches after I implied that I wanted my money back when I was picking up my VX-400, which has been there for six months, AFTER I had to bring it back because it was never fixed right in the first place! After one second of mentioning it, he told me to leave and called me a liar, then told the desk lady to call the cops. He said I was trespassing on his property, I told him I wanted my property back before I was going anywhere. As the assistants fumbled around for the power cord, he threw the partition open, approached my girl, when I stepped in between them he started throwing punches at me. My hand is in a cast, and his 300 plus pound assistant jumped in too, my girl was thrown in the melee as well, leaving her neck with a big nasty scratch from some dirty man's nails. The cops were called, but by the time they got there, the cameras were wiped of all proof of the insane man's attack. read more

Not happy with this place. Brought in a Carvin bass amp for repair of some mini-toggle switches that had fallen into the amp. This was my main gigging amp. It took more than a month for them to fix it. When I went to pick it up, they had installed push (in/out) switches instead. The guy said that was all he had. I wondered why he didn't order the correct switches when I first brought the amp in. They would have come in by the time they got around to fixing it. The switches did not even extend far enough out to push them with my finger. The guy told me to use a screw driver. That worked for about two or three gigs before the cheap switches broke. I would not recommend this place. They kept my amp for over a month and they charged me $90 to install cheap switches that soon broke. I realize that I shouldn't have taken my amp and told them to put the right switches, but I needed that amp for gigs. read more
