Used to go to their original restaurant years ago and loved their baked mostocolli. When they moved across the street, it was still good, but it's not any good at the old Wool St location. It's more like just plain pasta with tons of sauce in and especially on top. The mozzarella cheese was hard to find. It actually made me sick. My guest had the manicotti and didn't care for it. There wasn't much filling and it was plain. Again too much sauce. The salad and soup was no big deal. Portello's is a better choice actually. Won't be back. read more

I've loved Galatis for years, once my late husband and I discovered they had Boddington's on tap, we were sold. Their pizza, burgers and marinara sauce are my favorites. The last few times we went, the food was still excellent, but the service was lacking. One girl didn't even look up or smile at us the whole time we were there. Another time it took us 2 hours and 45 minutes to get two appetizers and three entrees. Last night Kyle was our server and he was excellent from beginning to end - Vince, you need to clone Kyle or have Kyle teach the rest of your staff how to be a great server. I would actually try to request him the next time we dine, that's how good he was. read more

Do not eat here! We had dinner at this restaurant and we were terribly disappointed. First the drink I ordered took forever to get and the restaurant was not crowded. The ice was all watered down in the drink by the time I got it. The grilled cheese I ordered was on a ciabatta bun which totally took over all the cheese. There was maybe one slice of cheese and the bacon wasn't cooked. Then my husband ordered a salad chopped with Italian meats. He tried to eat the capicola but it was hard and rubbery. When I tried a piece it was so old that it tasted dead. I immediately had to spit it out and the Taste lingered in my mouth which made me sick. We told the waitress and they gave us a $4 credit but it wasn't about the money, the food was very bad. Stopped in for lunch with my 3 and 6 year olds yesterday... I really didn't like the pasta sauce here (at the old location), and I left a review describing it--but this experience was totally different. Instead of pasta, we ordered a cheese pizza, which was actually really good. So good, in fact, that my three year old who eats like a bird ate THREE slices of pizza! Both kids said it was their new favorite pizza. Our server was also on point, refilling drinks at the perfect time, without needing to be asked. (Granted, it was not busy at all). I also met one of the owners who was at the bar at the time, and seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Bonus points: $1 hot dogs every day at lunch time with drink purchase. Poor excuse for a Italian restaurant. The server and floor supervisor didn't know what " Al 'dente" meant. Our sever was slow with refills she seemed to be overwhelmed. We counted only three tables that she was handling. Pasta was overcooked and sauce was flavorless. The Italian sausage tasted like it was reheated in the microwave and dried out. For three of us that ordered pasta dishes and one drink and two sodas. Our bill was over $60. I felt that was way too much to be charged for pasta dishes. Love this restaurant. Been going there since we moved to this area in 2000. Baked Mostaciolli is the absolute BEST anywhere! The Marinara sauce is perfectly seasoned. The Pizza is great. The service is just that - SERVICE. Wonderful people and an owner who is always there! Once you try Galatis you will also see that it's the BEST Italian restaurant in the area by far! After waiting 2 hrs and 15 min for my $30 pizza to be delivered, it was cold and soggy. The Manager offered me a $5 dine in credit next time I go there which I will not be using. The last two times we came here they screwed up our food orders. This last time I was just ordering a pasta that came with a salad to go. I didn't get the salad at all. I got two pastas and the one I ordered had the wrong sauce. It wasn't overly crowded when I came in and placed the order. The food is very average, except for the Spinach Rotolo, which is awesome. I had been to Galati's a number of times prior to this visit. My last visit had the fun experience of verbally sparring with the bartender who made it quite the challenge to change the TV's from a post game press conference of a non-Blackhawks hockey game to a White Sox game that was in extra innings. "The owner is a Cubs fan" was part of her reasoning. After a tiring exchange, she did change the TV but the damage was done. I'm a huge believer in great customer service. Ugh. We were really hoping to love this place. We're pretty new to the area and were excited to try some of the local restaurants. The food was bad. Really bad. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was just off. The Hideaway is a big nice clean sports bar and restaurant. It has a really good craft beer menu, and the beer is priced well. The menu is pub faire mixed with Italian. I tried a couple of the dishes and they have been anywhere from average to good. This is a good place for either family dining or having a couple happy hour drinks. They have a large restaurant area both by the large bar and a separate secluded dining area away from the bar. read more

Sooo disappointed in our dining experience last night. We had eaten at Galati's in Cary, before they moved to their present location. I loved the "Spinach Rotolo", & ordered it often. My cousin came in from Rockford yesterday afternoon, & when he suggested going out to eat, I mentioned Galati's. The hostess seated us immediately, & things went downhill from there. It took FOREVER to have a waitress come to take our orders. (Note, it was not at all crowded) We waited quite a while to get glasses of water, longer yet to receive our drinks. Food took another FOREVER to arrive. The Spinach Rotolo was nothing more than a MASSIVE amount of cheese in a pasta roll, sitting in a pool of heavy garlic butter. In hindsight, I wish I had sent the food back. Our water glasses were never refilled. We had to wait a great length of time to get the bill. Absolutely every aspect of our dining experience was awful. I was so sorry to have suggested going there. Never again!! read more

My family and I have been dining at Galati's for years now. Never disappointed. We've been to the new place twice now, and wait staff is great. My personal favorite meal is the stuffed peppers. My tweens both adore the homemade soups and gnocchi with vodka sauce. Pizza is always tasty. Prices are reasonable, which is an added bonus. Family friendly for sure. Which is a wonderful atmosphere for sports and drinking. The restaurant area is not a place we frequent anymore. We love the friendliness of the bar staff. Along with its food and cocktails. Bar wasn't packed but busy. Went for a couple of drinks and some appetizers. Took forever to get our order taken but everything was eventually brought out. Getting another beer or mixed drink was impossible, gave up finished our drinks and app and went to Duke's in CL. No excuse for not checking on beer/cocktail refills when in a bar. Just finished lunch. The eggplant parm sandwich was a little greasy with a drizzle of red sauce -more like what you'd expect from a fast food establishment. Service was good until the music got shut off and I asked the owner Lenny what happen. He said if you want music more music you can pay for it over there- pointing at a juke box. I don't know about you but as a business owner I think I'd be careful of my words. These words meant to me that his bottom line was the only thing he cared about and he really doesn't care about the experience of the people who could bring him more business and the people who are the ones that support him. A group of friends and I decided to dine out this New Years Eve and were very disappointed. I had never ever experienced worse treatment. I work in the restaurant business and was disgusted by how our waitress treated us. Simple requests such as new bread or cheese on top of a sandwich triggered rude responses of our waiter. When we requested items she would storm off and rant to her coworkers about the "trouble" we were causing her. If you don't want to wait on tables I would suggest a different profession. Furthermore, noticed that all the other tables she was taking care of were waited on but for our group she was no where to be seen and we figured it was because we are a group of teenagers. I was appalled that a waitress in her thirties treated sixteen year old girls with the such disrespect. Not only that but our food was completely cold and later when we spoke to the manager he gave us the same disrespect and nothing was done about it. I also figure this was because of our age, because adults treat teenagers inputs as a joke. Will never recommend this place to anyone and will never be returning. read more

It was our first time in, and the new place is JUST OK. The hostess/waitress was very very nice and cheery, and they sat us right away. Noticed the chairs in the bar were all dirty and dusty. No personality in the place either. We had plastic pieces in our appetizer (must have come right out of the freezer.) Drinks were great, really nice beer selections. Salad was overloaded with dressing, nothing seemed fresh. Even the soup and chili was just mediocre and luke warm. Really let down, I wouldn't bother going again. read more

My last time there two weeks ago with friends we all found that the food needed lots of help. One of the friends ordered the white fish and didn't eat much of it because it tasted and smelled fishy. To me that sounds like old product. My wife and I ordered ravioli and the sauce, what little there was of it, left a lot to be desired. The food was also cold, but then it usually is served cold. The waitress was overwhelmed but did her best to pay attention to our table. Irritating was when I asked that our ravioli be put in a take-home container only the left over ravioli was put in the containers without any sauce. I would suggest that that anyone who has food left over that you put it in the take-home container yourself. What was most annoying was the level of noise in the restaurant. It actually got to the point that after a while that we couldn't hear each other talk. The open seating leaves a lot to be desired. The management should look into installing booths with partitions or sound proofing between tables to help keep down the level of noise. Will we go back? Maybe, but only to see if there have been any improvements made to seating, sound proofing, and the quality of food and service.
