I appreciate this caring and kind group of people. They took such good care of us when we had to have my beloved pup Lily put down. Thank you to Gainesville Veterinary Hospital. read more

I brought my dog in for what was a diagnosed as a urinary tract infection. I also explained I thought I caused the bleeding when I picked her up when she yelped. The doctor said that was completely ridiculous I could not have caused that picking her up and he gave me the antibiotics without even doing an abdominal examination... why because you can't charge for it. Fast forward 2.5 weeks I returned because I knew something was still wrong and they said it was the medication still working. I insisted it was something else and after expensive tests and then an abdominal test they said it was a tumor that they could feel!!!!! In an abdominal exam. The sent me for emergency surgery and I spent a bunch of money and my loving dog died. I hold this vet totally responsible. Not to mention I spent a bunch of money 2.5 weeks too late read more

I was so impressed with the doctors and staff here. We had some emergencies with both of our senior dogs... they helped us through even though we were not originally their clients. Our dogs have recently passed but I think they are a wonderful veterinarian... and they also have a wonderful grooming Salon. read more

Dr. Brothers & Dr. Scott have always taken the extra time to call and follow-up with me about labs and review the results in detail. They also are very collaborative about medicine and dietary guidelines. Mr Bingley is 16 and everyone thinks he's a puppy. Their care and compassion is directly related to his wellbeing. Thank you to everyone on staff. They are always wonderful. I've always had a great experience with the groomer too who is 1/2 the price of PetSmart. read more

We have been going to GVH for 21 years. The vets and staff are extremely caring and they explain everything in easy to understand language. My only complaint is their lack of internet availability. I wish they were more available for texts and I would love to see my dogs records online. Other than that I highly recommend! read more

I cannot imagine ever taking a pet of mine to this facility again. The hospital has been corporatized and is now far more interested in upbilling than providing care for our pets. I had been a loyal customer here for 6 years, as I own three cats; however, when my oldest cat (18 years) became gravely ill on a Friday midday, I called to make an appointment knowing most likely that I would need to put him down. The response: a recording repeated each of the 5 or 6 times I called stating that they could not come to the phone and that I should either leave a message and they would try to get back to me in 24 to 48 hours, or take my pet to the local animal emergency hospital. I told them later, after I rushed my cat to another clinic to permanently transfer all my pets records to this new veterinary practice and that I would no longer need their services. Then, as the situation was urgent, I drove my pet the other veterinary clinic, which is more than 15 miles away, where in fact his illness did require that he be put to sleep, Unbelievably and very insultingly, when I arrived home after putting this poor animal down, I did receive a call from a staff member at Gainesville Animal Hospital telling me that all the staff had been in an important meeting when I called and that they were "happy" I was able to get my cat seen by another vet. I certainly hope the meeting was an Important one, more important for example that taking care of a pet owned by a long established and loyal client. And they were "happy"? That right? My question then is whether this a hospital or a venue for birthday parties? Even more incredibly, I continued to receive frequent notices from them for months after this awful experience reminding me that I needed to bring the cat I had put down in to them for his annual checkup or for other services. This is not a hospital any longer if that word still retains a semblance of its original meaning. What it has become is a facility where the primary concern is maximizing profits for the corporation that owns it. The staff there has been trained in all the less that ethical techniques to sell you services that are not necessary. I am even now still angry that my pet and I were treated so icily, so inhumanely, and so unacceptably. This clinic just is not a place I can ever in good conscience visit again. read more

Terrible place I took my little dog coco there and they told me no heart murmur when the humane society told me he did and now he's got a enlarged heart and murmur and fluid in his lungs they told me he was healthy except for fleas always get a second opinion cause now he's got to be on meds for the rest of his life and it could have been prevented I am very disappointed in their care read more

The young girl that answers the phone on a Saturday is very nice and professional. However.. Long post warning: bottom line- they asked no history questions about my dog, which is dangerous when they are issuing out strong meds with side effects, especially when they did not want to take/test samples?! Just look at the problem for 2 seconds and issue a diagnosis. I called my old vet in florida for advise and sent them photos. Came here for the first time last wk with dog due to flaky/crusty/bumps near tip of ears. Worried she caught something from other dogs. Vet barely looked at her (did NOT do a full check) and said it was a mild infection (no testing or scrapes). Ok...took her home gave her meds which were high dosage for a dog and it's commonly known not to give these type of antibiotics to dogs unless severe due to internal issues developing. She threw up everything and had diarrhea for 3 days so I stopped it. Came back saw female vet; again not a complete check looked at ears and ran her hand over dog and said take topical, and steroid this time and left. My normal vet would do a FULL check every visit (as you are being charged $$$ for a checkup) would have allowed me to ask as many questions as needed, and even shown me how to apply topical before leaving. They act like they want you in and out without even doing a full exam!! Yet charge you for it. More importantly, they CANNOT diagnose accurately if they don't do a proper exam or take samples. I asked about a fecal and they said no? Upon leaving I praised my dog and asked the girl at the front desk (hispanic) for a treat and without even looking at me she said "No, we don't have any)? Seriously what vets don't have treats? She was so bored/frustrated looking, even the vet assistant (white, short hair) looked and acted mad each visit. Urgh go elsewhere if you can in this town. read more

To charge that much money to trim nails is highway robbery. I would not use them again ever. Just terrible!!

My dog died. Not going to get into details but I'm a nurse so I know poor quality of care when I see it.

I really needed my girl's nails trimmed as we have 2 small children at home, who love to play with the dogs. Just moved to the area & had started looking for a new vet. Saw they had grooming & brought them in to check out the place. I just about fell over when they told me it was $46... Per dog!!!! I never thought to ask when making the appointment, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be more than $20 per dog. I could understand if I had a groomer coming to my home. Guess I won't be using this vet for my pets' future needs. read more

I am traveling through North Georgia and my pup needed a bath and trim. I'm really glad I checked Yelp and found Gainesville Vet Hospital. They were very quick to get me a grooming appointment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The groomer was also very friendly and did an amazing job on my pup. When i picked her up, she was happy and looked great! Thank you GVH! read more

I started seeing Alan Scott initially as a second opinion for my yorkie that was in the beginning stages of COPD and CHF. With the outstanding care from Alan Scott, I was rewarded with three more wonderful years with my Oskar. That horrible day when the time came to help Oskar over the rainbow bridge, the staff made it as easy as possible. They were comforting on the worst day of my life. I will always be grateful for GVH. I also have Lola Mae, a six year old mix. They are kind and helpful with any concerns I ever have with her. I 100 percent recommend this animal hospital for the care of your furry loved ones. read more

I was visiting friends a few towns over and needed an emergency visit. From the first call they were great! Got us right in and in and out within 20 mins. I am debating whether to just drive the 45 mins away from our current vet to this one simply because the visit was perfect. Knowing we would only be a one time patient they still sent a follow up card personally signed by everyone. I would recommend them to anyone in the area. read more

Gainesville Veterinary Hospital - Thank you from Sadie! - Veterinarians Near Me - Gainesville, Georgia

After 2 years without a pet (our Yorkie passed away after almost 16 years by our side) we adopted a rescue from the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia last week. He's an old guy, half blind, hard of hearing and was severely neglected by his previous owners. When we picked him up from the Humane Society, he had a slight cough. Within a few days, the cough became worse. We are new to Gainesville, so we didn't have a vet here. We called Gainesville Veterinary Hospital on Saturday morning and they said no problem, yes they would treat Eddie, just be there by 11:00 am and they'd meet us in the parking lot. From the very beginning, we were absolutely impressed with the level of compassion and concern for our situation. They took him inside, checked him out, and brought him out about 20 minutes later. The vet talked to us for about 10 minutes on the phone, and then the tech who brought Eddie back to us spent about 15 minutes going over everything. Eddie had an upper respiratory infection. He is now on the mend. Today we even received a thank you card, signed by everyone in the office! We would highly recommend Gainesville Veterinary Hospital and we will definitely be going back for future care! read more

Dr. Brothers is a top notch veterinarian: she's up to date, deeply caring for her patients, & finds solutions where other doctors have not. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the front desk staff. Now I've been going there for years & the women at the front desk are consistently cold, aloof, & completely rude without actually saying anything they could be fired for. It's a real issue because I always consider finding a new vet whenever I have to deal with them. read more

We have had our two Bosten Terriers treated at this facility for over a year now. Over the last 6 months we have experienced what we now know to be sub par care. Our eldest Boston was seen frequently for allergies and hip pain and yet the doctors failed to diagnose his heart failure (even though they took labs frequently and saw him frequently for "evaluations") until I took him in on a Saturday morning and told the vet I was sure he was experiencing heart failure. Nearly $700 later the vet confirmed that yes he is in heart failure but with all these medicines they were charging me for he should live another year at least. He died in my arms 4 hours later. Our other Boston was seen for routine lab work and a UTI with frequent urination in August 2020. Her lab work at that time showed her blood glucose was 171 (high) but this was not mentioned or addressed until I called back a month later in September to say she still had frequent urination and to ask if they were sure she wasn't diabetic. After I pointed out that possibility to them they then brought her in AGAIN and said that low and behold she does have diabetes and needs to be treated with insulin. If I had not been in the medical field and knew the signs and indications of BOTH heart failure AND diabetes then I am almost positive it never would have been diagnosed by the vets at this clinic. Fast forward to this week. Our remaining dog wasn't eating at all or drinking and had bloody diarrhea for two days and when I called at 3:00 on Wednesday afternoon I was told they couldn't see her until the next day. Even though I told them she was dehydrated and loosing a lot of blood. I took her on Thursday and was again charged nearly $700 to be told she had a "possible viral infection ". They gave her medicines that I had to force through her teeth. I asked the vet to his face when I dropped her off on Thursday to check her mouth because she was bleeding from the mouth and her appetite was poor. He stated "I looked in her mouth and everything appears normal". I picked her up Thursday afternoon and took her home thinking she had just picked up a stomach bug. On Saturday morning (today) we woke to her jaw being swollen to the size of an orange and she was having difficulty breathing . We called the office at 11:00am and were told we couldn't be seen even though we had just paid $700 to have her treated two days prior and even though she was obviously very sick. They sent us to the emergency vet. Upon being assessed by the emergency vet we were told that EVERY SINGLE TOOTH IN HER MOUTH is abscessed and is causing the swelling, the loss of weight and appetite. Please explain to me how the vet could say on Thursday that "I looked on her mouth and everything is fine" and on Saturday a different vet says every tooth she has needs to be pulled in order to relieve the very obvious infection. But now her blood glucose is so high because that same vet at this office said we didn't need to adjust her insulin, that now she's too high risk to have oral surgery until her BG is under control. So now we have to wait and pray that the infection does not kill her before we can get her glucose levels under control enough to have oral surgery that she has obviously needed for a long time now but was undiagnosed by our "trusted" veterinarians. We have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars to have our beloved babies treated in this facility and we trusted they were taking care of them. Now we know better. Be aware. read more
