I've been seeing Dr Hackett since 2007 and have always been pleased with each and every visit. Dr. Hackett's nurse has always been professional and very friendly. This office has always been more than will to help me with insurance coverage issues and making payments. The front desk is a bit of a hot mess since moving to this new location. If you can get over the front desk Dr. Hackett is awesome. read more

This practice nickels-and-dimes for every charge. They now charge $20 for 2-minute prescription renewal. They charge $50 for a 5-minute Patient Authorization that's probably against in-network insurer contracts, let alone Medicare Part D. If only we had a responsible Secretary of HHS to complain to. read more

Specifically went for HRT. I was told over the phone that I could talk with Dr about the hormones in appointment. As it turns out, Dr Turkington does not prescribe HRT. I just wasted time and money for nothing. I don't think it's fair for doctors to take their own personal opinions on drugs and extend them onto their patients. Won't be returning here especially after learning they did not get the test done properly. Won't be returning! read more

Extremely poor communication, piss poor attitude and lack of understanding. I tried to correct the assistant and she keat arguing things that she didn't hear from my conversation with the Docto. She went on and on defending a logical fallacy. Why would I switch my primary health provider to only get a physical and no prescription refills? why when I needed a refill she had me come in and only addressed one on my 5 medicines and not refill any others that are part of my maintenance and has been for 15 year? either the attending physician did not listen to anything I said or made terrible notes that her assistant does not understand. Waste my time with this provider. read more

While I love the doctors here, the way they conduct business is awful. I have tennis elbow (just need a PT referral bc I've had it before) and a respiratory infection. Called to make an appointment and was literally asked which one I wanted to be seen for because they will only do one at a time in order to collect from me and my insurance twice. As crappy as that is, I was in need of medical care, so was willing to pay two co-pays and I asked if I could be seen back to back so I didn't have to miss more work. Nope, it has to be separate days. Healthcare at its finest here in America. You don't get what you need because they don't make as much money that way. read more

We've been going to Dr. Sigmon for many years. Dr. Sigmon is caring; he listens and he is knowledgeable. He has identified medical issues for both my husband and me, and, if needed, has guided us to qualified specialists. Dr. Sigmon's nurse Cee Cee is professional, knowledgeable and caring. Additionally, I have on several occasions been seen by Dr. Turkington in the same practice, who is also a caring, knowledgeable and attentive physician. When blood work is required, having a lab there in the office is convenient and efficient. We highly recommend Gainesville Family Practice, and feel fortunate to have them as our primary medical resource. read more

I have been using Dr Turkington for a few years now and I am unimpressed and extremely disappointed with this practice. I stayed here out of convenience, but now I'm moving on. If you are experiencing long-haul Covid do not waste your time here. If you are sick with anything halfway serious I would also suggest going elsewhere. I had a bacterial infection that was fairly obvious from my bloodwork but the doctor did not prescribe anything except a CAT scan. The nurse was implying over the phone that she thought I had cancer when I went in because I was sick for two months as well as my helper from work with the same exact symptoms. I have been dealing with another doctor for my long-haul Covid from out of state but they needed me to get blood work done and sent out to them in a very specific time period. I made an appointment with this office to get blood work to send out and they said it would not be a problem. When I got there they refused to do it. Earlier in the year, I went for my annual physical. I'm assuming that due to Covid the dr has been afraid to do a thorough physical. I was rushed out so fast that everything she did I could've done at home myself; weight, temperature, BP and on my way. It was a complete joke. I always get blood and urine done because I have one kidney and I'm a cancer survivor, but not this time. No turn your head and cough. No prostate exam. Many people are having issues with their doctors when it comes to treatment with long-haul Covid and this doctor is definitely one of those doctors. The most frustrating part is after being sick for two months she completely ignored my bloodwork. My white blood cell count and absolute neutrophils were significantly high enough to warrant antibiotics at a minimum. I had to turn to another dr who put me on ivermectin and doxycycline which knocked out all my post Covid symptoms and the infection. Unfortunately I'm left with chest pain's which are a typical long term long hauler issue. I have a lot more to say but I'm extremely frustrated and having heart issues and this is stressing me out. read more

Dr. Turkinton is my new doctor and I must say that I am very pleased with her, her nurse and the front desk staff. I've only been there twice but each time it has been good. Otherwise Happy Friday morning ruined by a visit to my PCP family doctor's office of 15 years. This how long I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Sigmon and his outstanding nurse Hellen who has recently retired. I qualify this first by saying, Dr. Sigmon has always provided me with outstanding care so this review in no way reflects his medical practice. Well over recent years and after their move from Rt to Manassas Lakes Dr location and corporate restructure of sorhave seen gradual shify toward a less customer friendly approach and most focus on fee centric practice. Today when I arrived and checked in mentioned had forgotten my wallet and asked if I could pay the $25 co-pay on my next visit or mail in a payment later, thats when the tone immediately changed being told I would have to call in payment by close of business or would be charged an late fee of $25 which to me anounts to unreasonable 100% late fee. When I questioned this by saying have done this many times in the past and have always paid double on the next visit. Then was immediately presented with with a " recent billing policy update" to sign on a laminated page with a dry erase marker, so as a mater if principle I was reluctant to sign it and made a comment about "not this experience not matching my prior best reasons for becoming a patient to a small town family practice, 15 yrs ago", about the is when I then called to go back to see doc by the nurse and said did not have time finish reading two full pages, they said take to room and sign while waiting on doc to come into exam room, then felt as a matter of principal why am I being treated as a new patient, then realized from reading small print (instincts I have as a corporate contracts procurment officer) that this update was from 2016! To me that means I am being discrimenately singled out as man of color not likely to pay bills, even though I am a working professional having lived in exclusive gated community of Piedmont for 15 years. Anyway I had some obvous contempt for the treatment at that point or "attitude" though never raised my voice. That's when doctor Sigmon said he was told I had mistreated and cursed at his staff and would need to discuss situation with head office administrator. She the walked into room and closed the door but only partially with her foot leg hanging outside door as if she was afraid to be in a closed door private discussion with me. And Yes by this point I was visually upset at this treatment that felt racially biased, the whole time thinking would a white male of equal comminity standing be treated the same? I calmly requested an apology or we part ways as a patient which would likely include departure of my wife and young adult daughter a patient since leaving her Haymarket pediatrian. Anyway she left the wxam room fully closed the door and somtime later Dr. Sigmon returned as said just to let it be a resolved ad a no-fault misunderstanding which I did then but now after reading other similar reviews about rudeness of staff felt compelled to weigh in as well. Well even though Dr. Sigmon and his wonderful nurse now retired Hellen have served my and my family so well for 15 years, I feel personally offended and no longer welcome by his staff. I will be searching for a new PCP in the locall Haymarket Gainesville area. You know it causes me to wonder if this era of Trump racial insensitvity has lead to these unsettling experiences more common southern states. Btw, I'm in a interracial marriage with a biracial child so have no personal pretense for quickly playing the race card. I say with a teary eyes, really do miss Nurse Hellen, she would always call to make sure I was OK after any changes on meds or serious health visits! I don't think this unsettling event would have happened on her watch. read more

I have been going to this practice for a little over a year, but after my visit today, I will no longer be attending this practice. The front desk has always been extremely rude and unprofessional, but what did it today was when one of the ladies at the front desk spoke to me about my PRIVATE medical records in the waiting room with other patients around. It wasn't until I asked her if we could talk somewhere else that she finally took me into a private room. After that, I could hear her talking about me to the other ladies at the reception desk. I left the office upset about what happened and decided to leave a voicemail message to Allison, the office manager, to explain what happened. The manager called me back and (rudely) said that her staff said that what happened earlier did not happen. Allison took her staffs side and did not consider the patients feelings! I am astounded and hurt by how unprofessional (and unethical) the staff is. This violates so many HIPAA rules that I will be reviewing. If you need a new family doctor, make sure you choose a practice that actually puts the patients and privacy rules first. read more

My family and I have been going here for almost 8 years and I have slowly witnessed the decline of this practice. Two of my doctors have left and two are never available and the other is a sorry excuse for a doctor. The staff is incredibly rude, I've been hung up on, met with hostility, ignored, and spoken to very unprofessionally. Dr. Sigmon is the best doctor this practice has. He is very knowledgeable and I trust everything he says, he takes the time to talk with his patients and really explain what he's doing. But it is hard to get in to see him and frankly I'm so frustrated with the front desk people that it's just not worth the wait anymore. Dr. Hackett is also a great doctor who really friendly and I feel very comfortable with him. Dr. Turkington is THE worst. I have never attended an appointment with her that lasted more than 10 minutes. I've been called in for follow ups that have lasted literally 3 minutes. I don't know about everyone else but I felt my $30 co pay was completely wasted for a follow up that consisted of her asking if I was feeling better. Her nurse Linda is also very rude, she actually said to me that she wasn't going to argue with me when I was merely asking questions about the doctors decision to not extend my medication one more month while I was switching doctors. I essentially felt threatened with my medicine, which I just feel is unethical for a doctor to do. Needless to say, I'm switching practices and never going back. I don't recommend this practice to anyone. It's really sad because this was once a place I felt really comfortable in and cared about. That is no longer the case, you can tell patient care is no longer a priority for these doctors and their staff. read more

My husband and I were just turned away from Dr Hackett because the front desk did not understand the concept of Federal Health Savings Account and would not accept the co payment which would be paid to them through our insurance program. Because the paperwork took too long they cancelled my appointment as I sat there in tears begging to see the doctor because of my pain and refused my husband who needed a pre op checkup. Compassion, I don't think so. read more

I started going here as I decided to get a primary care physician I saw Dr. Nau for my physical. She is really nice and knowledgeable and got me checked out and on the proper medications. My children and I see Dr. Hackett. Very, Very sensible practical doctor. He listens to y your concerns and needs. I love his nurses. They ALWAYS respond to messages. NEVER had a problem. The front staff is BUSY. They can only be so personable. They are not back there just sitting around people. That phone is ringing off the hook and they are trying to fit people in for appointments. They also have to handle the reception area and get forms from patients co pays,etc.. This area is growing and more and more patients are coming in to that office. There is a full staff up front. The wait inside the room for the doctor IS long. With kids I think its better to have them wait in reception play are till the doctor is 100% ready for the patient. read more

I will never go back to this practice again. These people are sleazy, extremely rude, and unethical. The only nice person was the reception I spoke with. My husband went in for a routine wellness checkup, which included bloodwork. He's had this done in the past, lab work discussed over the phone, and recommendations for cholesterol medication. My husband recently discontinued the medication, since he's only 30 and was told to be on it because of family history, NOT because he needed it. This time around, the nurse calls him to tell him that the bloodwork came back but he needed to come in and make an appointment with the doctor to discuss the results. My husband made the appointment, took time off work to go, just to have the doctor look at him confused and said "how can I help you?" The doctor told him everything was normal, he didn't need medication, he was a healthy 30 year old who didn't fit the criteria for needing the medication. Now, because the doctor "saw" him and gave an "exam", we were billed over $90! We are outraged at the extreme lack of communication, poor management, and lack of compassion for their clients. The manager begrudgingly gave a small discount of maybe $20 but refused to discount the bill to something more reasonable, like a $30 copay, or ZERO FOR SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED OVER THE PHONE FOR FREE!! After trying to lower the bill, the manager basically threatened to send us to collections if we didn't pay. She was extremely sarcastic and rude to both me and my husband, and once we got the doctor on the phone, he flat out lied about the visit in order to back up his staff's mistakes and make us look incompetent and, as the doctor put it, non-compliant! NEVER AGAIN read more

I had a longer review typed out and will be looking for ways to get this sent to upper management. Awful experience at this practice and it's clear they are focused on more revenue/fees. Long story short, I was asked to come in to discuss lab results when an in-person visit was not necessary. No medication was prescribed and my doctor (Dr. Hackett) was confused about why I was there, even asked "How can I help you?" after walking through the door. Next thing I know, I'm charged $91 for a follow-up visit which could have taken place through a phone call. When I called the Practice Manager about this, she was extremely rude, unsympathetic and did not listen to my request. When Dr. Hackett called me back, he was equally rude and condescending. I have a letter with more detail written out which I will gladly find a way to deliver to higherups at Gainesville Family Practice. If I learn that there is no senior management above the doctors, I'm afraid that practice is solely focused on profits, not customer service. If you are interested in learning more, message me. I'll send you the full account of what happened with detail on how rude Allison (Practice Manager) and Dr. Hackett both were. read more

I have been a patient of Doctor Phillip Peacock for 8 years. I will never go to this practice or any others associated with any of the doctors there. Do not choose this practice. Take this advice when you encounter condescending attitudes from medical practitioners it's usually a sign they are not very knowledgeable. I have had several issues with this office and after my last one I have finally decided to leave the practice. They refuse to link my family's accounts for billing so it is impossible to pay all the bills at once. They have threatened to take me to collections for a 14 dollar bill i never received. My husband ran out of his BP meds while we were on vacation. After 2 days of the nurse refusing to ask the pharmacy for a fax number (we had to do that, and she didn't have time) they refused to refill it. Told him he needed to go to a dr. In FL that had no idea of his history and that they would rather he be off his meds than refill it. I have been misdiagnosed with sinus congestion when I had shingles. They are all about getting your money and getting you in and out the door than they are about caring for patients. Convenience is not worth their negligence. read more

While Kathy Baker CFNP is awesome, I find the office staff to be horrible. The office hours plainly state they open at 8, but you can't get anyone to answer before 8:30. I asked them what time they start answering the phones if they open at 8 and the young man working in the front said "oh...8:30 or so, unless someone is late." How unprofessional! If it wasn't for how pleased I've been with Nurse Practioner Baker, I'd go elsewhere. read more

Recently I have had to get medical testing done for school and have run into problems with Dr. Turkington and her nurse Alisia Noble. I went in for a two-step PPD a little less than a month ago and returned today to get the second step done. Upon entering the patient room, Alisia asked me why I was here to get a second one, I explained my school wanted the two-step (requiring 2 separate tests) and she told me I was wrong. I then pulled up the school requirements and showed her, she then proceeded to tell me I was wrong, again. Alisia left the room and talked to Dr. Turkington, which I could over hear from the patient room, she again told the Doctor I was just reading it wrong. When Dr. Turkington came in, she failed to address the issue and only asked why I was there and then proceeded to give me the test. It is disheartening as a nursing student and patient of this practice that the nurse, Alisia Noble, did not understand what a simple two-step PPD step is. Dr. Turkington also failed to address the matter with me. I will not be returning to this practice and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I have been suffering from vertigo for about 6 months now, and the systems come and go every few weeks, the symptoms consist of extreme dizziness and nausea. I recently had to take off of work to get some extra rest while battling these symptoms as there is no cure to vertigo. My manager requested a doctor's note to verify my diagnosis and symptoms experienced. I tried to set up an appoint last minute and was forced to make an appointment with Dr. Jason Hackett. He was extremely rude throughout the whole appointment and refused to permit more than one day off of work. I drive special needs kids to and from school for a living and this requires a high level of attention which vertigo disrupts. Something terrible could have happened if I was forced to go to work because of some asshole doctor. Dr. Douglas Sigmon is my primary doctor, and he diagnosed this issue roughly six months ago. I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Sigmon he is a great and caring professional. On the other hand, Dr. Jason V. Hackett is very rude and unprofessional in comparison. I did not feel the respect a doctor is supposed to show his patient, he did not introduce himself to me or shake my hand as most doctors do. He was used a very degrading tone while speaking to me like all I was trying to do was get out of work. My son had called earlier that day to set up the appointment for me and mentioned that I had been already diagnosed and just needed a note proving such. So based on that, I am assuming that is why he came into room with 0 respect for me as a human being. He began to perform physical tests which involved the movement of my head. I was given no warning or asked to take my glasses off, he just began pulling on my head, tilting my head left and right almost damaging my glasses. Any other doctor would ask me to remove my glasses and ask if he can touch my face and move it whatever direction. Then when I asked for a note regarding my absence from work he would only give me a note for that day. Although, I needed one for the previous day which I missed work also. He began arguing with me when I asked for another note and at that point I was in so much pain I couldn't argue anymore and just left. I do not want to blame this on a racial stereotyping, but it is hard for me to believe he would have treated a white women who took off work for vertigo symptoms like this.. Vertigo causes violent dizziness and nausea, these symptoms need to be taken very seriously. I drive around special needs kids for a living and that requires high levels of attention that vertigo easily disrupts. read more

Very disappointed with Dr. Turkington and Jenny the Office Manager. I had a follow up appt. with Dr. Turkington for my annual blood work. Since it was the first time I was seeing her for this, she asked that I take lab results from the previous year to compare. At that time I thought she would be a doctor who cares. At my follow up she did spend a couple of minutes with me discussing a couple of issues but when I tried to go over the previous years lab results as she had requested at my first appt. she said, "I got to go hun", walked out and left me at mid sentence. I waited a few minutes in the room to make sure I did not misunderstand and maybe she would be returning, but no. It took a few hours for me to compose my self so that I would be professional when I called the office manager, Jenny. I explained the situation to Jenny and she was apologetic, but the dr. had already gone home and said that she would get back to me. To be fair, it was the Friday before Christmas, and I did not expect to hear back until after the holidays. Mid Jan. came and still no call from Jenny. I called and left a message, no response. Left another message about a week later and still no return call. Today I called and left one last message with Jenny and said that it will not be bothering her again, but was very disappointed that she did not return my calls. I assume that they have plenty of clients and loosing one is not that big of a deal. On my fb page I asked for doctor recommendations from friends and a few people also had issues with Gainesville Family Practice. I do have to say that my husband sees Dr. Hackett at the same practice and is very happy with him. If Jenny had returned my call I would have just switched to Dr. Hackett, but after waiting a month with no response, I am done and ready to move on. read more

We love Gainesville Family Practice and especially Kathy Baker and her nurse, Theresa!!! My son and I have been going to her since we moved here several years ago and have received only the best care available. I very rarely speak negatively about companies or post bad reviews, but here is my exception... avoid Gainesville family practice like the plague. I have gone to them since 2011. They "lost" my medical records twice, mysteriously found them and claimed they had been misfiled, never returned my phone calls, and both doctors I have seen there were rude and did not cooperate with me. She didn't want to test for things my therapist asked for, and I was practically forced into an EKG, which I asked not to have several times, explaining that I've had it done numerous times and nothing is ever found. (I ended up having to pay $150 for it!) I literally had to ask four times, and then return the lab order she made because she did not include iron to be tested for, even though I have been consistently low in the past and had specifically requested it. Today I finally received my records (after THREE MONTHS) because I drove the hour and a half and demanded them in person. The officer manager was incredibly rude and condescending when I explained my experience. When I finally received the records, there are several places that I know are incorrectly recorded. It is NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE dealing with this office. read more

Don't walk away from this office - RUN as fast as you can. You deserve to be treated better, and not like a number or a dollar sign. I just tried to make an appointment as a new patient. The office staff made me feel like I was interrupting them. I told the receptionist that I had Cigna insurance. She responded by telling me, "I'm not sure if we accept that one. You need to contact your insurance company or go to our web site." If the front desk staff is not knowledgeable of their job, it's usually indicative of poor management and horrible patient care later. read more
