Dr. Jeffrey Barasch was highly recommended by an excellent internist in Bergen County.  I found…read more he helped me in ways that other doctors could not or did not.  His office continues to be most helpful.  Lisa Finnegan is the nurse practitioner who works with him and she is encouraging, diligent, thorough, personable, reasonable and uses excellent judgement.  There are a number of other employees who also work in the Ridgewood Office.  I found all of the staff people to be helpful, knowledgeable, efficient, personable, professional and thorough.  I recommend this highly-recommended medical office to others who have sleep or breathing issues to address.  Some of the names of other staff include, Lisa (a second person with this name), Karen (not sure of spelling), Amber and Sheenah. Employees at the Valley Medical Sleep lab, who were efficient, helpful, polite, knowledgeable and positive in other ways include, but not limited to: Erika, John and Katherine.

My husband was told there is no reason the appliance isn't working and he should have seen the dentist who made the appliance. I called to explain the situation and how before making the appt I explained what has been done and asked what we needed to do at this point....and was pretty much told tough luck....BEWARE!!

She explained…read moreeverything to me before my cancer surgery and the day before she even had a radiologist do a lymphoscintigraphy (a special procedure that was like a breast mapping to get a radioactive substance and die into the cancerous tissue and shoot it sideways towards my lymph nodes to be able to see more detail during surgery.) When I woke up from having the lumpectomy I said, "Am I done here ....Did I have surgery yet?" because I wasn't in any pain. The nurse said you did great and as she said it the surgeon walked in and told me that everything went well. I asked why I wasn't in a pain and she said she put a time release pain medicine into my breast that would release slowly and the next day and that way the pain won't be bad and she said they also gave me some pain medicine in my IV. I have had ovarian cancer surgery as well as other surgeries in my life and I was always in a lot of pain when I awoke. I think this surgeon is amazing. On top of that she has the nicest staff. Whenever I call a girl named Zanayah who answers in the breast cancer department anyways knows me by name when I'm there for a visit. Normally that wouldn't be unusual if I had an appointment, but I had to go in today because some of my sticky wrapping on my breast came off in the shower (which the RN said sometimes happens). As soon as I walked in Zanayah said, Hi Dawn how are you? I was shocked that she knew that it was me. She said we're expecting you because you had called earlier. The nurse that re-wrapped the area for me was named Karen and she is always so nice. There's also a lady named Lynn that's very nice and the PA named Liz is also wonderful. I had a pre op appointment with Karen, Liz, and a lady that was fairly new named Rachel and they are all so intelligent and so sweet. I wouldn't be able to name all the people that were so nice to me at the pavilion at Valley hospital because it would take too many pages but this is a great hospital and the staff is fantastic. The anesthesiologist doctor Harvey assured me ahead of time that everything would be OK. I was scared since years ago I was giving a paralytic when they put me to sleep and when I woke up from having ovarian cancer surgery at memirial Sloan Kettering, I was paralyzed and it was very scary. She said we don't even have to give you a paralytic. She told me that once you're under general anesthetia for this operation, you don't need it. At this hospital the nurses give you their cell phone numbers and if they don't pick up it's because they're working with a patient and they call back literally within 3 minutes. Today I called and someone got back to me 3 minutes later. I feel very safe with the surgeon and this hospital. The doctor also made an additional incision under my arm to take out some extra lymph nodes to biopsy them just in case anything could have traveled in the future and she took out some surrounding breast tissue as well. This way I will live a long time. Very proactice team! The surgeon is also very cheerful and bubbly which puts me in a good mood when I'm in there and I would normally be nervous. It's very obvious that she loves her job.

I had complicated foot surgery there 2 years ago. Firstly, I was never warned or educated as to…read morehow difficult and painful it would be. Secondly, I was made to continually feel like I was being a baby about it . Also , there were constant implications that I wasn't working hard enough and that was why my foot was taking so long to heal. Meanwhile at my wonderful PT office I was told that I had a severe injury that would take a very long time to heal and that they were sorry I was not prepared and impressed by my willingness to work so hard. There is definitely something wrong in this office. The only person that was consistently nice was the woman that greeted you at the front desk. I felt like no one else wanted to be there or wanted me to be there and I didn't feel like a person with value. . On my last visit I was told " this is your last visit -bye! Two years later my foot is still numb , but, I would never go back there or recommend my surgeon. I'm sorry , but, I believe people that work in the medical field must have skill and empathy!

What made the situation even more frustrating was being told repeatedly that I was "next" to be seen, only to watch other patients who arrived after me and had later appointment times get called back first. When I asked about it, the explanations I received from the staff were inconsistent and didn't match what I had personally observed. Rather than acknowledging the excessive wait time and poor communication, I felt like I was being given excuses. The doctor's explanation only added to my frustration and did not address the actual issue. In fact, he took an incredibly rude attitude toward me when I inquired politely about it. I understand that medical offices can run behind, but waiting over two hours more than once is unacceptable. After speaking with others in the waiting room, it was clear that I was not the only one with this experience. Patients deserve honest communication and respect for their time. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
