My husband and I brought our newborn daughter to LPP 2 days after her birth for a color check. The exam room was cramped and claustrophobic. A nurse came in with one of those old IBM ThinkPad laptops and proceeded to ask me a series of questions.. What was my daughter's weight at birth? How long was she? Was the birth natural or cesarean? We answered all her questions as she entered the information into her laptop. LPP thought my daughter looked "ruddy" so they sent us to the lab for bloodwork . The nurse said they should have the results by that afternoon and someone would call us by the end of the day. We were told to come back in two days for a color re-check. No one called us on Monday to give us the results of our daughter's lab tests. Tuesday morning I called LPP to request the results of my daughter's blood work. The receptionist said they had the results but only a nurse could share that information. She said she would have a nurse call me back by the end of the day. Again, for the second day in a row, no one from LPP called us back with our daughter's lab results. Wednesday morning, my husband and I took our daughter back to the cramped office at LPP for her follow-up color check. This time another nurse comes into the exam room with a laptop, and proceeds to ask me what my daughter's birth weight was, her measurements, was my delivery natural or c-section.. the same exact questions we had just answered two days prior. I was more concerned with my daughter's health at that point than to question them on why we were being asked the same questions all over again, so I let it go. When I told the nurse that nobody had called us back with the results of Monday's blood work, despite me calling to ask for them on Tuesday, she seemed surprised. She said the results were fine but still thought my daughter looked too red. She asked me if we were putting our daughter in the window, in sunlight, with her clothes off for 15 min at a time multiple times a day. I said, no, are we supposed to be? She said Yes, weren't you told that on Monday? "Um, no.. Nobody told us anything like that." Not the first nurse nor the doctor who examined her on Monday ever told us that we were supposed to put our baby in the window with her clothes off several times a day! Next the doctor came in and recommended we go back to the lab for another round of bloodwork. This time this nurse promised me she would call me back by the end of the day with the results, and thankfully she did. Our baby was not jaundiced. Friday morning I discover my daughter has thrush, so I call LPP and get in for a same day appt. The nurse comes in with her laptop and Again, for the 3rd time, starts asking me what my daughter's birth weight was, what her measurements were, was my delivery natural or c-section.. My husband and I looked at each other in frustration but still didn't say anything as again we were more concerned with our daughter's health at that point. After the nurse left, we waited nearly an hour before the doctor came in. He apologized for the long delay, wrote a prescription, and asked us to come back in a week for follow-up. The following Friday I bring my daughter back into LPP for the 4th time and *I kid you not* the nurse comes in with the IBM ThinkPad again and starts asking me what my daughter's birth weight was, her measurements, was my delivery natural or c-section, etc.. I was getting very frustrated that this is my child's pediatrician and they don't seem to even know who she is! Finally I said "This is the 4th time I've been asked this same set of questions.. Don't you guys save this information? " She said Oh we have it, but I have to close this program on the laptop and open up another program, blah blah. Less work for her, but it doesn't do much to instill confidence in the parents of their patients. By the time I left that claustrophobic little office, I vowed never to go back. I gave them 4 chances and was not thrilled with any of our appointments or at repeatedly answering the same questions. The four times that I took my daughter into LPP, we saw 3 different doctors. The practice has about 10 doctors in it and they seem very busy. My husband initially told me that any good pediatrician's office will be busy and to expect to wait. However after our multiple visits to LPP, it seemed like my daughter was just a 10-minute allotment that they squeezed in to their overpacked day, they didn't have the programs available to know her vital stats when she came in for appointments, medical advice was not dispensed as it should be, and follow-up calls didn't happen 2/3rd of the time. A practice's busy-ness doesn't necessarily mean they are "better" or that your child will receive more quality care. The lack of coordination within the office regarding patient information, call backs, not being able to see the same doctor, and cramped office space was tedious and frustrating. read more

Dr. Gach had been my pediatrician from shortly after my birth to my teen years. It is so nice to see he is still in practice, now that I am grown up and a mom myself. What I remember about Dr. Gach?? Arcade games in the waiting room, how great he was with me when I was a tot. He made me laugh no matter how sick I was. When I had the chicken pox,(TWICE!!) when I had to get school vaccines, every time I had strep throat, when I had a follow up after being hit by a car when I was 7...and in a lot of pain....he made me smile, and laugh. When I was five I really believed that mickey mouse was in my ears and goofy was up my nose. I also remember his awesome ties. Thank you doctor Gach for making my childhood illnesses a little bit easier. read more

We have had a great experience with Dr Gach. Our daughter had a very serious medical condition when she was a few months old and she was in and out of UCSF Children's Hospital many times. When she was 8 months old she had to have a tracheotomy. At the time we were going to another pediatric group in town (rhymes with wayside) and they misdiagnosed our daughter with a yeast infection in her trach tube when she actually had a staph infection. This was just one of many missteps from the doctors. They actually told they were learning a lot from our case. It's very disconcerting to here when it's your kid in their care. After the many mistakes our specialist at UCSF said we should look for another doctor in town. At the time our nurse coming to the house recommended Dr Gach. We called him and got an appointment for the next day. He was very thorough with our daughter and handled her case very well. He would even call us to see how she was doing. We recently had a son in May and Dr Gach, and his group, have done a great job with him too. read more

Honestly after reading these reviews I was shocked! My experience with the practice has been nothing but positive. The women who answer the phones have always been so very helpful and always polite. The hold time when scheduling appointments is so much faster than when calling Kaiser or Palo Alto Medical foundation. It is incredibly easy to get a same day appointment and the walk-in appointments are a blessing. The doctors have always returned my calls same day and spend a lot of time helping my children. There is minimal to no wait time in the waiting room and the doctors never make you feel rushed and really help you feel reassured. I love the home town feel of the office and really feel like my family is being taken care of and not just another medical record number. Also, when my husband lost his job and we had troubling paying our bills they never made us feel bad about the situation. They never turned us away despite the lack of payments and even allowed us to be on a payment plan with a discount. It is obvious the group loves kids and are willing to go above and beyond in everything they do. I would DEFINITELY recommend taking your children there! read more

My children have had a lot of mild-moderate medical problems over the years. We switched pediatric offices from somewhere else after a mis-diagnosis of a very serious condition and also separately strep. We have now been at Dr. Gach's office for a few years and could not be happier. We have met with many of the pediatricians there over the years and have loved all of them. This office listens to the parents concerns and talks directly with the children. read more

We have not been impressed with this practice. Our second son's circumcision was SO brutal... my husband had to watch. He was numbed with a long needle and had surgery, which is so old since there are now newer, better methods. My first son's circumcision was just the opposite (with Kaiser). A plastic ring/bell was used and a string tied around tightly until the foreskin fell off... so much kinder! Dr. Gach's office also charges $25 per patient EVERY time we need records sent. For our 2 sons childcare and changing doctors, we've been charged $100 for records!!! ($25 per child for childcare and $25 per child for their current Dr.) We have also been overcharged for a 5-10 minute visit for our sick baby. The practice seems to care more about money than the care of their patients. I would not recommend them and not go back. read more

Dr Gach is nice and helpful but the office is old, toasted and every time I call they act like I am bothering them. They are very Un helpful. This was the LAST time. We are looking for a New Doctor as I write this. Trust us the office staff is terrible to work with !!!! read more

Dr. Gach is great! We love his bedside manner and his sense of humor. The office is now under Standford Children's Health and there have been a few changes around the office. New paint, new decor, a few familiar faces and a few new faces. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. Whenever I call they make me feel at ease. Being a first time Mom is stressful and we panic with every sneeze and cough, so it's helpful to have a doctor who can assure you what's normal and what's not normal and when you need to come in. I highly recommend Dr. Gach. read more

Dr. Gach is so awesome!! I love this office and Dr. Gach. We have a new little girl, 10 months old , and have been coming here since she was a month old. The office staff is warm and friendly and answer the phone quickly. Dr. Gach is brilliant. He always is right on top of our questions. He has a great sense of humor and his book is wonderful and helpful. He is always available and returns phone calls immediately. He obviuosly loves his job and his patients. He surprises me when he calls to just check in after a visit or call to him to make sure Ayla is doing ok. He really cares and can't thank him enough for all his hard work. We went here because we heard several positive comments about the Livermore/Pleasanton Pediatric Group particularly in regards to Bruce Gach, who runs it. Our experiences here were exceeding negative. After one of his nurses incorrectly performed a procedure on our daughter she got a life threatening infection. Although Dr. Gach's mannerisms can be quite charming our experience was horrible. We can only hope that other families do not go through what we did here. read more
