They started by taking x-rays and shortly after, the dentist (Thomas Unger) came in and explained to me what was going on and also talked to me about some different options. I decided to have my tooth extracted. I cannot stress enough how comfortable he made me feel, I always knew what was coming next, no surprises. Within minutes, my tooth was out and I was pain free. She consulted a medical doctor that I had previously seen and together they started antibiotic treatment. That was several years ago and during the pandemic. My dental health has come a long way since then and it's because of her kindness, compassion and skill. My lifelong fear of dental appointments has been alleviated by the entire team. A visit to the dentist now is far less stressful and way less painful than my past providers. So I go. Dr Gomes-Moore had also coordinated a root canal treatment with another doctor that turned out painless, and dental implant that was recently completed and feels just perfect. The entire team is friendly, the office is clean and professional. Choosing this doctor and office was one of my best decisions.

She listens, takes pride in her work, and I'd be surprised if there's a better dentist out there. My family stayed with this practice for years because of her talent, despite noticing high turnover among the hygiene and office staff. Unfortunately, a recent issue with the billing department ruined our experience. After receiving an unexpected charge that was not disclosed prior to treatment, I attempted to resolve it via email. I received a brief, abrasive response alongside a hand-scribbled bill that lacked clear explanation. To clarify the charge, a Cigna insurance representative joined me on a conference call to advocate on my behalf. During that call, the billing staff member, Colin, was dismissive, repeatedly interrupted the representative, and became heated when challenged. While Cigna successfully got the inaccurate charge waived, our reward for advocating for transparent billing was receiving a certified letter terminating our care. Dr. Gomes is one of the best dentists around, but the unprofessionalism and hostility from her administrative team ultimately forced us out. I strongly encourage management to review phone recordings with Cigna so Dr. Gomes understands how her patients are being treated behind closed doors.

That was what this dentist said to my husband today. We've never been made to feel so guilty for asking questions about our treatment. After several treatments over the last three months, my husband and I are taking our business elsewhere. This dentist has no bedside manner. She might be good at what she does, as far as her dental work goes, but her insensitivity to other human beings overrides whatever skill she may have as a dentist. I'm not sure why other reviewers mentioned that they will work with your financial situation - we've had numerous treatments that she said needed to be done right away (?) and once our insurance ran out, they were not willing to work out a payment plan. Doctor seems rushed - in both my visits, I ended up asking the assistant/hygienist my questions, because the doctor was already out of the room and barely acknowledged me. (But I did get to hear her conversation with her assistant all about her mother and her nursing home while I was convulsing from the pain.) The office staff was nice and helpful, but I felt so uncomfortable with this dentist. I left almost in tears last week. Unless you have full availability during 9-4 hours, it will be hard to get an appointment here and it's really not worth that wait. Recently we both had tooth extractions. $300.00 per tooth. Our bill went up to over $1000.00. We were going to start paying more after the holidays. Unfortunately we received a letter notifying us that we were no longer allowed to go back until the balance was paid in full. Unfortunately Dr. Vanderpool only cares about the money. I do not recommend this practice. I also had a tooth pulled, was in pain for two weeks. I did get a quick phone call from another dentist in the practice. Dr. Vanderpool was supposed to pull the tooth but he has not been in the office too much. I would stay away from this dental practice. Unless you don't mind paying through the nose for sub par service.
