Chuck's Furniture & Mattress

I recently purchased a Paula Dean sectional sofa from Chuck's. Darlene the sales person was very…read morehelpful, she was very informative and was not pushy. The delivery guys were very informative and very very professional. I highly recommend anyone purchase furniture from Chuck's I would defiantly shop there again.

This is a two separate occasion disappointment. Back in 2014, we purchased a mattress that…read moresupposedly the factory caught fire. The mattress took I believe 4-6 months to actually come in. They never called to let us know it got delivered to their warehouse and sat there an additional few weeks. They couldn't deliver promptly because the mattress was too heavy. We had to rent a U-Haul to get it ourselves. 2023- We decided it has been awhile we will try again. We found the couch we wanted. We were urged to wait for the sale. The sale came 4 days later as we took 3-4 trips to pick out a fabric. The night we placed the order, the sales woman called the rep of the company to make sure there was enough fabric to prevent delay and was told production would start immediately. Good news- were told 4 weeks as the fabric was in stock in the amount of yards available. Perfect ! Our only stipulation to getting custom was to make sure timeframe was reasonable. We told her this multiple times. Well at the 3 week mark asked for an update from the sales rep, no response. Called the store myself and, I was told it was in production and would be another 1-2 weeks. Called the following week at 4, was told it was just went into production that weekend ?! Okay how is that possible. Called week 5, couch is built but waiting on fabric that won't be in until week 6. As I try to be patient and explain this was not explained to us by the sales rep and we would have bough the in stock floor model for this timeframe. Sales rep calls me to tell me I was lying and she never said that?!? I'm like that's insane. You told me and my husband 3-4 weeks as again we didn't want a long timeframe because of holiday plans coming up and we only agreed to customer because of the time frame. We asked to speak with the manager. The Manager was supposed to talk to owner. We have yet to receive a call back yet or even an update. This is unacceptable. All the service was amazing until they were unable to keep their word regarding production and their service and attitude went south. I would not recommend this store.

Every once in a while, I'll find something here that I like. And they are adding a Sephora, which…read moreis great. But their concept of having 2-3 customer service desks with 1 cashier each is just ridiculous. I had to return an item I bought online. I stood in line at one location, but had to leave because the cashier had to call the manager about something and told everyone waiting we would be better off going to another desk. Went to another location and stood in line for 10 minutes because the cashier was new and the people in front of me were exchanging items. The cashier said she was told she wouldn't be left alone while training, but here she was. Finally, another cashier came over to help me. And once she saw that I had an online purchase, told me she couldn't help me and I needed to go to the home department. I went to the home department only to encounter another line with no cashier. What should've taken 10 minutes, took about 30. Ridiculous.

I went a few times but what made me decide to write a review was my experience through a WVU Career…read moreServices Event. Essentially, the store was opened to students who could peruse the store and get in on discounts and sales. I can't fault everything that happened to be just JCP's fault, as WVU had issues with transport and organization, but it was very disorganized and the sales weren't entirely clear. However, the WVU volunteers were very helpful to my experience and the ladies at the Sephora station, who were actually from another location, were fantastic. In turn, the JCP employee's were short and rude with me and other student. For example, I was in line at the waiting room with fellow students and over the winter break a family member had gotten me a JCP gift card that was purchased at the location in Parkersburg WV at the Sephora. Basically, it's a JCP giftcard but as black in white stripes and can be used at any JCP location (but not sephoras like the design would indicate). An employee, who I suppose was eavesdropping, interrupts me and asks to see my card and upon looking at the front snaps that there is no Sephora (which, I knew) and that I could not use it there. I told her that according to the terms on the back I could and then she took it from me and read it over before huffing and giving it back. Another employee at checkout also treated me like a child when I asked for clarification about a sign. After that, I put the item I was going to buy because I didn't appreciate being treated like an idiot. Overall, the JCP employees didn't seem at all happy that there store was inhabited by more than 3 people at one time for an extended period of time and I even overheard one worker complain heatedly to what I guess is her manager about how much trouble the event was. During my other visits the store were lackluster at best. Most times, I can't even seem to find an employee unless I stand at the checkout. Business also seems to be pretty dead so I guess they don't need a lot of staff. I will not be supporting this JC Penney in the future and I wouldn't recommend it unless you enjoy being ignored or treated like a burden
