The lounge is full of couches and comfy chairs. Nothing like the hard benches that are in the general waiting area. We were there for 2 hours and it was so relaxing. They have snacks and nonalcoholic drinks for you to consume. I had some amazing bagged popcorn, sea salt chips, and Doritos. For drinks they had water and a variety of sodas. If the snacks aren't available in the lounge you can ask at the ticket desk. The snacks were well stocked in the lounge. The drinks had to be gotten at the ticket desk. What made it extra relaxing was they offered a shuttle to take you right to the train. No having to figure out what tunnel to

I purchase my ticket online and it was fairly easy. The customer service was good. There was a rep in the lobby that clarified my pickup destination and offered a golf cart ride if needed. The train was full but not crowded. I was able to find a seat fairly easily. The ride was comfortable, I was able to read my book and relax. The downside was that I would've liked to wipe down my chair and table. Yes it's public transportation but it would be nice if they had Clorox wipes and sanitary stations available for passengers to wipe down their area.

On a recent evening, just before sunset, I found myself at 16th Street Station with a day pass and some time to kill. So, I decided to watch the sunset from the blue line. (For those who do not know, 16th Street is considered the major intersection between the blue line and the gold line, since both lines run through that station.) When it comes to the blue line, I basically still consider myself a tourist. Even though I ride the gold line all the time, I've only stepped on the blue line a handful of times. On this occasion, I rode the blue line from 16th Street to Franklin Station and back, which allowed me to see the sunset over Sacramento from both directions. It was actually a really beautiful view. It made me think about how some of the views from the gold line are pretty interesting, too, but I'm just too used to them to notice anymore. It's funny how we can start to take beautiful things for granted as soon as they feel familiar. Franklin Station itself seemed very clean. Other than two other people waiting to return on the same train, it was empty. This might have something to do with the criminal activity other reviewers have mentioned, but I was fortunate enough to not experience any. I also didn't notice a security guard, but it's possible that they were roaming around the (very large) parking lot. It's possible that I just missed them, since I was only there for a minute. (I have personally not had any issues with blue line trains running late, although I could write a book on all my issues with the gold line.) Immediately upon arriving to the station, the rider is struck with the visual of a large copper arch-- a work of art called "Esperanza," created by a group of artists led by David Best. Upon doing a little research, I learned that Esperanza is one of many temple-like, artistic structures built around the world by a group of artists who call themselves The Temple Crew. More information on these temples can be found at thetemplecrew.org According to the website: ""Esperanza" was created to serve as a beacon, welcoming the hard working, diverse community of south Sacramento. Though reminiscent of a temple, the arch is not intended to reference a particular culture or religion, but invites individual interpretation. The intricately cut steel temple-like structure evokes the feeling of a sacred and safe place, a metaphor for the importance of public transportation that serves this community. A text component, including such phrases as "I see you have a family to take care of" and "I see you searching for a better life" speaks volumes to this community. At its most elemental level, "Esperanza" serves as an inviting entrance to the station and community landmark." Overall, it's a nice-looking station, especially at sunset.

I bought my ticket to ride the morning of my trip from the train station counter. I paid $60 round trip. Conductors come through the train and ask to see your ticket for proof of payment. This is an option if you want to get to Sacramento from the Bay Area without driving. Once you get off the train in Sacramento, there are a lot of places within walking distance. The ride along the Bay is scenic, you'll get a glimpse of the American River close to the Sacramento station. I enjoyed views of the water and a mostly peaceful train ride. If you want to nap or work, it's easy. Bring headphones if you quiet and or focus time. I added a few shots I took on my outbound ride. My trains were on time departing coming and going.

Aside from a little anxious missing my stop, mostly very pleasant trip.

The Green line has not operated for approximately a year. The RT stations periodically closed. Now all stations in the downtown area are closed. The new trains are very dangerous. The ramps and doors don't operate correctly not allowing the disabled riders board. They are left standing in the station. The new and improved RT system is a recipe for a accidents including injuries.

However the Westside route can be a challenging depending on your work hours. They have 3 routes in the morning and 3 in the evening to and from North Natomas to downtown. The first route is fine if you're scheduled to start work before 7:00a and end your day before 4:00p. The second route will get you to work before 8:00a and the 3rd route before 9:00a. HOWEVER, for the 2nd route, if you're not on one of the first stops, you will be standing for the whole ride. A few passengers have tried to email TMA about the situation and did receive a response that they were in the process of renegotiation of the contract. It seems the considerate solution in the interim would be to send a "shadow" bus until contacts are done. With this route only having 3 chances to get home, not everyone can get off work to catch the first route home and then last route is not until 6p, causing the second route home, standing room only by the time it still has 3 more pick ups before getting on the freeway to head back to North Natomas, unlike the Eastside routes which have 4. I'm starting to feel like it's unsafe for the amount of passengers that are standing. And today didn't make it any better with the AC not working and then the bus overheats halfway home. With so much traffic on the freeway, we knew it would take longer to wait for the back up bus, than to walk home. I walked 3 miles in heels, so definitely got my steps in. I'm just not sure if TMA is taking heed to our emails or ignoring them, but I'm going to take a break from riding and re-evaluate at a later time.
