The scrimshaw is beautiful and both the Christmas ornaments and sleigh bells would be great additions to any collection. I found the owner friendly and informative. I believe he is a second generation leather craftsman. It is worth finding this shop, in fact there is much to view and while noted as a store it is also a gallery of a number of mediums.

A combination of old wood, dog, a recent fire and lots of leather. Perhaps an unusual and unexpected olfactory juxtaposition but a surprising pleasant one. Almost intoxicating. The sign outside has a picture of a leather punch on it and leaves no doubts or ambiguity about the main purpose of this store. Lots of leather items and tools scattered around and the people here deal with leather with confidence and skill. They can whip you up a belt, jacket or just about anything else in leather with ridiculous ease, skill and speed. Besides the leather goods the store also has a menagerie of other fascinating things. Exquisite glass pieces and unique and distinctive Xmas ornaments or beautiful lamps grace the ceiling and walls. Clocks, time pieces, strange dolls and even some scrimshaw add to the evocative and visual stimulation. A great place to visit on a cold Nantucket day. Nice warm fire, friendly and knowledge people and an even a happy dog to great you. A unique and anachronistic shop that will excite all of your senses and imagination. Places like this are unfortunately quickly becoming distant memories. A place to pet a friendly dog warm your butt by a fire or see some incredible crafts.

Jewel in the Sea - 14KT and Sterling Silver Anchor Bracelet

    Jewel in the Sea

I very seldom post negative reviews but sometimes they are just really warranted…read more I must confess the experience I had at Jewel in the Sea in the summer of '24 soured me on this store. In fact, so bad was my experience it still bothers us more than a year later and I opted to Yelp about it. Prior to '24 I've bought sterling Nantucket basket bracelets for all my daughters and bride, without any incident at this store. Summer of '24: Milling about Town, we went into the Jewel in the Sea. Working the store counter was a young African American woman who was pre-occupied with her laptop. There was no one else in the store, just my bride and me. Walking through the store, I spy a knock-off, Swatch-esque, wristwatch. I collect wristwatches, so I asked her how much this one was. She proceeded to bark at me that she was busy and told me to wait. So much for that gracious Nantucket customer service; the poor little princess from Manhattan College. Now, I never talk down to people like she did to me, and there was really no reason for her to do so; it was a gesture of power and control. After waiting about eight minutes, I picked up the watch to read the price tag. She then started to yell at me, implying that I was trying to steal it. Please note, the wristwatch was not locked up or under glass. Maybe this store is great, maybe their merchandise is nice, and the prices are reasonable. However, the help they employed in '24, at least the day we visited, was downright exceptionally rude. I was even more surprised to read that Nantucket Today rated this store as 'the best' on the island! IMHO, Nantucket Today's judgement is lacking. Plenty of other jewelry stores on the island and in Town.

scammers they took…read morethe money and never delivered. they said they were going to make the bracelet custom fit and lied about it being worked on, but finally after checking in over the span of 2-3 months, they admitted that the order was never in production to begin with. the owner was condescending on the phone call and tried to justify unethical business practices and throw the whole issue under the rug

PAGEO is an absolute fraud and abomination of a business. My husband bought a 3200k gold link…read morebracelet with a diamond link in 2008 from this "business" and it precipitously broke within a few months of wearing it. After taking it to one jeweler here in NY, they added a distinct, second "catch" to the clasp. After that attempt failed, I returned and they wisely said "You know, the whole clasp should be replaced , it wasn't right from the beginning". After sending the bracelet back to Pageo and calling them to let them know I was doing so, they said they'd fix the clasp. Well, 2-3 mths later, I received THE SAME exact bracelet back with the SAME faulty clasp. Absolutely nothing was done to correct the situation beside "pinching" the catches my jewler in NY had put on it. After pinching and trying to pass it off as a new bracelet. I let Pageo know this was not a new bracelet and I was exceedingly disappointed that they took 2-3 months to have it sit there and worse yet, do nothing and pass it off as new. But, I gave them a second chance. After taking my chances and wearing it again, it fell off my wrist in the street. I called Pageo again and they told me to send it back up and they'd really do something about it this time. 2-3 months pass and I'm again returned a barely modified clasp. It gets better - the claps stops clicking into place again, and in the meantime, I notice the link with the pave diamonds has worn from yellow gold to white or silver in the back. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I call Pageo letting them know the clasp continues to be faulty and now your diamond link has worn from yellow gold to white or silver. They say the'll call the manufacturer. Now I dont trust the gold nor anything they say, the trust was long gone actually. I send it up YET AGAIN with the promise of a TOTALLY NEW BRACELET. I get one alright, in the usual couple month time frame, but THIS TIME, with ornamental triangles punched out of the ENTIRE back of the bracelet. You guessed it - send it up again for a new one, the shine it up and send it back EXACTLY the same bracelet, with the back rubbed white with no explanation, but shined up. Is this comical, tragic, I'm not sure - but you CANNOT make this up. Once again, spending precious time and energy to deal with these people who could care less, they don't apologize, no credit or gift certificate, nothing. My husband gets the owner on (he's been on the case supposedly after the second return, and he promises to shepherd figuring this out. He really insists we'll get a new bracelet from the manufacture. Well, we all know which direction gold has traded in since 2008, UP!, so the manufacturer and Pageo decide, in their infinite wisdom and honorability, send me a bracelet which was truly, HALF ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD, or 10k crap they sold me. Long story short is, we send their triangle, cut-out bracelet back, my husband calls because I cant event bear to speak to these frauds and they do NOTHING and don't apologize. We send back the cardboard cut-out and I keep my old, always broken bracelet. I had been able to keep it on my wrist with the pinched catches for a couple mths but SURPRISE, it broke again a few weeks ago. I called GEORGE, the owner today, and started out with as much pleasantry as I could muster, but GEORGE decided his tact was to say, "IT was his recollection they sent me a new bracelet" . I errupted and I let him know I was walking right over to BLAST him on YELP and do whatever it takes to make sure NO ONE wastes their precious time or money on these jerks.
