After 2 years of pain and loss of range of motion, I reached out to Dr Schipper for an evaluation. Very quickly he was able to determine something to try to help my pain and range of motion. Almost immediately I saw positive results, but I still wasn't seeing the gains I wanted. Upon my follow up visit we discussed other options which resulted in a low risk surgery. I decided to go this route, and now 2 weeks post op I'm extremely glad I did. Even the day after surgery I could immediately feel the improvement in my range of motion and to my surprise I basically had zero pain. If it wasn't for the stitches I would have thought I dreamed that I had surgery vs it actually having happened. I couldn't be happier with the results thus far and can't wait to see what additional gains I get after completing PT.

When my daughter was finally able to choose a specialist for her needed surgery, she chose Dr. Schipper at Anderson Orthopedics, and we could not be happier. Dr. Schipper explained all that would be needed, his staff was very friendly and helpful, and the surgery was a great success. My daughter's recovery is going well, and she is looking forward to physical therapy. We are so thankful we found Dr. Schipper and highly recommend Dr. Schipper and his staff to anyone that needs foot or ankle surgery. He is amazing! Sincerely, Dayna Klein

Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic - That's the most that hand would close. Occupational therapy helped, but the middle finger still won't close all the way.

A routine surgery gone bad…read more I had three trigger finger surgeries performed by Anderson. The first one on my thumb was hugely successful and led me to have the other two fingers done some years later. Surgery was scheduled with the 'new' hand guy and performed on the right hand with no apparent complications. After removing dressing I notice the incision was not sutured so that the sides lined up resulting in a pucker in my palm and even a misalignment of the line that goes across the palm. I bright this up with my surgeon and he brushed me off saying it would 'flatten' after some time. Ok, so two weeks later I go for the left hand, same procedure. I was in the room and they were prepping me for the surgery. The doctor came in the room and injected me with the numbing solution, and I commented, "last time your assistant cleaned my whole arm with butadiene solution prior to injection." This created a bit of a stir as they scurried to clean the area after they made the injections. Surgery was performed and I went on my way. Fast forward 10 days. Recovery was going ok, although right hand very stiff but left (most recent) all of the sudden became very stiff and painful. I went to their office the next morning and from the parking lot they told me that they were too busy to see me and that only my surgeon could see me do come back tomorrow. Disappointedly I left with my swollen and very painful hand. I returned the next morning in worse shape. The surgeon didn't even get me into the exam room and told me to admit myself to the hospital. He said I had an infection in my hand and it needed to be cleaned out and I needed strong antibiotics. The hand had become quite inflamed and very painful but that was just the beginning. Surgery was very invasive adding three more incisions, rooting around and flushing around the tendons and then not stitching back up but letting the wounds heal from an open state. I met with infectious disease staff and they recommended strong antibiotics while they tried to sort out my specific infection. Two days after surgery, the surgeon visited, and performed a probing and painful examination of my hand with no gloves. Two days later I was released from the hospital with a very painful hand. I went back for follow up with the surgeon and he said give both hands time and recommend occupational therapy. 20 sessions later, I can't make a tight fist with either hand, have lost grip strength, and the tendons are so tight they lift in the palm of my hands when I do close my fists. Very uncomfortable every day. The misaligned sutures never 'flattened' out and the trigger finger surgeries were a total fail. I'd never recommend having it done to anybody. I don't think my hands will ever be the same, but Anderson got paid in full and showed no concern whatsoever after I walked out the door.

I went to Hanger Clinics for a pair of custom orthotics following extensive foot reconstruction and…read moreankle replacement surgery. The Hanger facility resembled old Civil War era photos I have seen of crude and half-assembled braces and prosthetics scattered about a make-shift battlefield hospital. The place was a mess. I also found that Hanger uses foam "crush boxes," a decades-old approach. In the hands of a skilled technician, there's nothing wrong with taking such foam impressions. But, there's also lots of room for error and mistakes. The real problem came from Hanger's use of a third-party orthotic maker. I understood from my surgeon that custom orthotics normally require just two weeks, especially when I pay for them out of my own pocket rather than insurance. For me, weeks passed. Two weeks became four ... and then, six. I later learned that the receptionist at the office had complained about my weekly calls to check on the status of my orthotics. When I finally received my so-called "custom" orthotics, they lacked contour to my feet and did not provide needed support. To call them "primitive" would be a compliment. My advice to anyone considering Hanger is to be aware that the company is a publicly traded stock and as such, the services a patient receives might be more thrifty and cheap that may be found elsewhere. Publicly traded companies, like Hanger, more often than not focus on saving money to enhance shareholder value. The result is a lower quality for customers, in my opinion. During the month I waited for my orthotics from Hanger, a physical therapist suggested I buy a pair of Superfeet orthotics from Amazon. They are not bad and on a par with Hanger.
