We've used many different jewellers in the Jewellery Quarter over the years and have found the service you get can vary a great deal. Using a different jeweller for the first time then comes with a bit of uncertainty. We came across G H Moore as we were looking for someone to modify a pair of gold and diamond earrings that my wife was now finding uncomfortable to wear. Finding them was more by accident than anything else as the jeweller we been recommended was closed, but having given them the job we were more than happy with what they did.
When we went to collect the earrings I got into a conversation with Adele and Kirsty about having a gents Tanzanite signet ring made, something not often seen in the UK. They said they could produce some computer designs and get some loose stones in for me to chose from, all with no obligation, and then explained how they work from design to finished article.
We tried a number of other jewellers to see what they thought, but after seeing what a good job they'd done with the earrings, we went back to G H Moore a couple of weeks later. Using some designs from the Internet as a starting point and after going through quite a few changes and additions over the following weeks, by the time we'd finished I had an absolutely beautiful ring and probably quite unique.
Considering the amount of time we spent discussing and designing the ring, they were so patient as they could have sold any number of ready made rings probably for far more money and in a fraction of the time. We have always said to friends not to be fooled by first impressions in the Jewellery Quarter. G H Hughes is a small shop, quite simple and not a glitzy showroom as some are, but between them they certainly know their job, from the staff in the shop through the designers, to those in their workshop. Customer satisfaction is obviously very important to them. Whether you want anything modifying or want a bespoke piece of jewellery, I certainly wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. read more
