Apart that is, from 2 places who bent over backwards to accomodate me. And this is the one I bought from. Good, friendly service and providing what I wanted at the right price - thats all we want from most shops really isn't it? Watches, rings etc - new or second hand. Repair service too. Worth a look.

Nothing but praise for Greg and his team: they made and delivered my self-designed wedding ring…read morejust in time, spot on budget, and the personal service was outstanding. Two reviews in one: --I first visited Element in January 2010 when looking for a palladium engagement ring. Element is situated in the heart of the jewellery quarter. Their shop is relaxing, with wooden display cases letting you see what's what. No overwhelming 'huge selection', just a range of very tasteful modern jewellery. Lots of helpful display materials: examples of diamond cut and sizes, examples of wedding ring profiles and thicknesses, that kind of thing. They also have their jewellery making workshop out back and you can see the work through a large window in the store. Like restaurants that have the kitchen on display, you can see the machinery and the craftsmen at work. In an age of outsourced mass production, I find this reassuring :). Overall it's a great place to learn and choose a ring. The staff are relaxed and helpful. They're quite unlike the pushiness or salesy approach demonstrated at some places in Jewellery Quarter. I can't imagine a better place to help you select your wedding or engagement ring. -- Later in 2010 I used Element's bespoke service for my palladium wedding ring. They were specifically recommended for this by a friend I know at the design school nearby. Here's how it went: * First, I faxed them my sketch of what I wanted it to look like. Soon I had a call back from Greg who asked me more details and gave me his direct line. * They then sent me, by registered post, a wax model to try on and approve. * My fiancée suggested the ring profile be made wider and less heavy. I called Greg to discuss this and suggested he go ahead with the change but with no need for a further wax by post as I trusted his understanding. The price did not change - like I say, excellent customer service. * They had the ring cast in palladium in very quick time. * The finished ring, polished asymmetrically and engraved just as I'd hoped, hallmarked in Birmingham (palladium is now hallmarked), arrived by recorded delivery just in time for my wedding day. It looks perfect, fits perfectly, and my (now wife) was stunned. On the basis of this experience I'd be happy to recommend Element Bespoke Jewellery to anyone looking for a custom design. You only get one chance to buy wedding and engagement jewellery; how valuable it was to have someone trustworthy and helpful to make it for me. Five stars.
Whilst I haven't bought anything from Element I have seen first hand and heard about their amazing…read moreservice from a few friends now. When a close friend went in search of their wedding bands and engagement ring this was one of the places they went to first after a recommendation from another friend. Greg remembered exactly who the friend was, asked about the wedding and how they were getting on, and frankly that level of customer service, passion and love for the work you're in is what you want if you are out buying wedding bands. If you have a budget they will make your ideas work for you and they want everyone to have the best, so much so they are more likely to haggle themselves before you get a chance to try. Brilliant service and craftsmanship whether you are after traditional or more modern deisgns.

I am really pleased with all of my purchases, what I like about this family jewellers is that there is no hard sell and they always try to accommodate within your budget. I have spent a lot of time researching various jewellers on the internet and made personal visits to the Jewellery Quarter, Hockley. I hope to be visiting Paul Green in the future for items of jewellery for special occasions. Excellent service and well done !
Located in the heart of Birmingham's bustling Jewellery Quarter, Paul Green Jewellers is a diamond…read moreand ring (and, by default, diamond ring) specialist. Now, as you'd have probably gathered, such establishments are as common as muck (or gold and silver) in the area, but Paul Green stands out, partly due to its attractive facade, which manages to be bright and eye catching without crossing that most dreaded of lines into gaudiness, which would be a real kiss of death in such a competitive area. There seem to be two main types of jewellers in the Jewellery Quarter - ones that go for the minimalist style with the emphasis on luxury, and those that go for a slightly less glitzy route, looking to come across as independently run and homely, and it's the latter category which Paul Green definitely falls into. The shop is small, but manages to feel intimate rather than claustrophobic, thanks in no small part to the friendly, welcoming staff. As for prices, Paul Green is most certainly competitive, although as you're probably going there with a very specific idea about what it is you're looking for, the most helpful thing I can do is tell you to shop around. As a bonus, Paul Green is virtually the only jeweller in the area open on Sundays, so if you happen to be passing through and need a jeweller there and then, don't despair at the number of closed shops.

When we returned to pick it up he not only re-sized the ring beautifully with no trace of a soldering line, he also managed to do the whole job without cutting out any of the engraving. Considering it was re-sized 6 sizes down it still only cost £9.95. Fantastic service, value for money and craftsmanship. We are very happy customers!

The shop has cabinets of local and national jewellers work in a wide range of prices meaning you can usually find something you like AND can afford - and then if what you're after is actually some more heritage information, they have books and trinkets linked to the area and the staff in the shop are extremely helpful! If you agree with me on that, then you may have already taken a tour of the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter - if not though, then what are you waiting for?! A time capsule that demonstrates the practices and effort that went into one family business who thrived in the area during the mid-20th century, the guided tour that takes visitors around the Smith and Pepper workshop is a treat for local history buffs and anyone interested in the jewellery industry. As I now work for a local jewellers in the Black Country area, I found it really interesting to get a sense of the dedication to the craft all jewellers share and the metalwork demonstration shows you the men who make the shiny things in action. A great little gift shop is free to visit even if you don't want to take the tour, and showcases an array of unique and affordable pieces from local designers that you will definitely want to come away with. Great for a lazy weekday pop-in, an educational school trip or if you're on the lookout for a gift with a difference.

Any need for good precious metal jewellery or diamond based products and I'll always go here to get a first opinion on price and expected quality for said prices. With a workshop in the back most orders are turned around failry quickly when it comes to stone work settings, pendants, cleaning etc... For specialist requirements (diamond cutting technology, platinum lazering etc...) the jewellery will be sent off but still ready for pick up within 2-3 working days. Both the jeweller himself and his shop assistant are always happy to have a natter advising around both your requirements, their material knowledge and the outcomes that others in similar situations have had. They are happy to converse face to face by phone or email to make sure it is as easy as possible for you to get your requirements to them clearly. If it is not a custom piece the stock jewellery they have is very reasonably priced and all hand made. Price wise they are very similar to other jewellers in the area (a few pound cheaper but nothing to break the bank) but it is all about the personnal, none invasive service here, you can talk for half an hour and walk out without any pressure to try and force the sale. I can also vouch for the quality of the jewellery here as items I have bought are still going strong with minimal surface scratches to the metal work (expected). A personal favourite and deserving of the 5 stars!
