I got a bid from Zach, who claims to be half owner of this business, to build a deck. I explained in detail as to what I wanted, I wanted it 12x18 made of composite decking with treated red wood underneath. I asked if spiral stairs were something he was capable of, he assured me he could do anything I wanted. I asked for a bid with spiral stairs and without, because I want them but it depends on how much more money it would be. I also wanted a second set of stairs off one side that would lead to a dog kennel I had poles set in cement waiting for it to be finished after the deck.So he said he would get back to me with a drawing of the plans in a few days, he showed up with no plans drawn up, but we went over the plans once again, I was leaving town and felt that since I had explained it twice in detail that he knew what I wanted and what he was to do. He told me the bid price of 4865 and he wanted half down for materials, and much to my joy this bid included the spiral stairs. I gave him 2700 down and the rest due upon completion.
About 2 weeks after I paid him the down payment he called and told me he would need another 1500 for the spiral stairs. I took it with a grain of salt and said, thats ok. I dont have 1500 more so just do whatever is easiest because I just want it to be done.
I was gone for 3 weeks, he worked 2 days on the deck and did most of the framing and then he laid about 8 boards down and partially screwed them down. And that is where he stops.
I called and asked why he hadnt been to work on the deck, he assured me it would be done in no more than 2 weeks.
It has now ben almost 5 weeks and I have a partially framed deck with 9 rowes of composite decking screwed down...nothing else.
I called G&G yesterday and spoke with the owner, Terry, whom is Zach's father and he assured me that Zach had nothing to do with his business.
I called Zach and told him I want reciepts and an invoice for what he has done and a refund for the rest of the money I paid him. and I will find someone who comes to work every day and finishes it. He told me we have a contract that is binding and he did not put a finish date on it.
But, he did use G&G stationary to write the bid.
SO...........
This is a rip off artist and I wouldnt have anything to do with anyone in this company. He didnt put an end date on purpose Im afraid since that is the first thing he said in his defense. I would expect someone working for individuals would have said something more like. Im on my way there now, o tomorrow and I will have it finished by x date. But, he said hed be here this morning abd he didnt show up. I have been ripped off by this company and the owner of the business didnt want to be involved. Im assuming this is their way of making money. Ripping people off and lying.
I would not call these people for anything unless you want to ne lied to and ripped off. read more
