WORST customer service I have EVER gotten. What I assume is the owner, big old angry guy who mumbles and is blatantly and asshole. my boyfriend had gotten into an accident and unfortunately the cops had to use this horrid company to tow my car. First thing is the tower for the company COMPLETELY RUINED my transmission for my vehicle by towing it in PARK and not neutral, I mean Id think you would know not to tow a car in park if you work as a tower but whatever. so They took the car to the lot, that morning my boyfriend had called to make sure the car was there. The dude said it was and wasn't helpful at all with telling us when they closed or where the car actually was. So we went in to pay the first day because the website said they closed at 5:30 So I assumed the whole place closed at 5:30 but no when I got there the towing part closed at 4 but i didn't see it anywhere online and I was searching for there hours and he immediately gave us attitude and my mom gave it back a little because that's unacceptable and then he wouldn't let her pay with her credit card and said it had to be cash or money order cause she was giving him attitude which he gave immediately to talking to us. Also before we left my boyfriend had asked if they towed are car In park and if the transmission would be fine and the dude straight up said yes it will be fine they put skid pads on it so it doesn't ruin it. But that was a COMPLETE LIE. My transmission was fine before it got towed and I have a video at the tow lot of the transmission being stuck due to them RUINING MY CAR. then we went back after a day otw tow to pay for it and get it out we got a ride to the place to pay and then we assumed it was there cause we called to ask if it was the day before and he said yes and not once did he tell us it was somewhere else, then as soon as I gave him the cash we were like okay can we see the car and he tells us then it's not even here and gives us a paper with the address on it. Overall horrible company to get your car towed with. My dad had the same issues years ago when he got his car towed there. They're careless and just srtaight up disrespectfu! read more

Reading these reviews of being rude etc. As a former wrecker operator and wreck master certified drivers do get burt out I've worked with the biggest company in the harrisburg area for years and I have to say if you don't like the response you get call another outfit. My dear friend brother lost his life helping ungrateful people who just don't get how hard this work is. You just have to understand maybe the owner seemed rude but maybe he was swamped with calls. And if you only got 2 to 3 drivers and they are all working their hardest you can't just expect them to go out and put them selves in harms way. So you say you lost a customer well you probably lost out the most. Because now who you going to call?? It's funny I'm new to this side of the river and you people complain about the dumbest shit. Just like when 27 news did their stupid thing w GA Smith it's simple if your that careless to wreck or be hit or simply break down not taking care of your vehicle they will call closest towing companies it's way better than waiting 45 minutes to clear a road way. I usually don't leave comments especially for GA Smith Towing which is why I waited for a week but I have NEVER had a company act like they did with me on the phone when I called on 1/16/20. Out of all the tow companies in the Harrisburg area, I have always used this company and this would have been at least my 9th or 10th time using them until that day when I called them. I ask for a tow rate for a car I purchased in Grantville, PA to Harrisburg. The 1st thing he states to me is "I don't have time for this today!" That response caught me of guard at first because they ARE A TOWING COMPANY and that is what they do. I replied back quickly saying I don't need it today but within the next 2 days, so he gave me a fast quote and before I had a chance to give a reply, along with when I will drop off my keys off at their office like i did in the past, he hung up on me which I didnt' realize he did until I didn't get a reply. I purchase cars often at Manheim and Coparts at auctions that need towed along with using a towing service for my person / company vehicles as well but to act like I was rude to interrupt him from whatever he was doing, it was 100 % PURE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I would have never have acted like that to my customers especially if I had a bad day. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same guy in the earlier yelp message below that I read. I ended up just using my tow dolly and saving myself 140.00 dollars by doing it myself taking it back to my shop in Penbrook. Just a shame as they were my stand out towing service for years, my friends and anyone who ask in the past but now not any longer. since my schedule is crazy i used to take my cars for oil changes at meineke on rt 22. good prices and such but a couple months ago they told me that both my front lower control arms were shot and would not pass inspection. i got 2 quotes and they both ran around $800 to get fixed. so i dropped it off for an oil change at G.A. Smith and had the mechanic look at the control arms. just got a phone saying there is nothing wrong with them and i got plenty of time to go before they need replaced! unreal.... so yes there are still good honest people out there and if your looking for one of those to service your vehicle go to G.A. My 2012 Nissan Juke wasn't completely disabled, at first I thought software issue with tranny. Sometimes letting car sit and cool off fixes this. Since my return from Phoenixville, PA it wouldn't go above 60 mph, its sluggish and I keep hearing metallic grinding and wheezing. Purchased from CARMAX, I knew I should have it checked out and probably not drive further then 5 or 6 miles. I called my mother who owns the same make/model/year as mine, never had an issue had her meet me at Newberrytown Wal-Mart. I contact CARMAX, I am with in my 30 day limited warranty, the inform me that they must dispatch towing. While waiting for the tow truck, I wanted to make sure this wasn't a CVT software glitch. So having had been sitting for a bit, I start up and pull off, now, going 2 mph in the Walmart parking lot wasn't going to verify this for me. I depart and go 2 miles. A torrential downpour takes place... Heavier than I expected. I could not see and it took me longer than to return because of the car limping and the storm was loud I couldn't hear my Bluetooth. While I was away, G.A. Smith Towing arrives and assumes that my mothers Black Nissan is the one to be towed (mine is silver), she informs them that I had left and would be right back, she isn't the one that needs towed. Wouldn't my service center that contacted this place inform them of the vehicle color? tag number? guess not. My Juke limps into the parking lot. I roll down the window, and offer and apology for his wait, very brief wait I might add. 6 minutes. You would have thought I hit his wrecker, because I was greeted instead with... "Why would you drive the fucking car?!" Very loud, Very hostile.I repeated my previous apology. We begin to load my car on the bed right? Nope, my actions regarding the personal vehicle which is not paid for by G.A. Smith Towing and the driver and nutcase who claims he is the owner. Not really allowing me to get a word in edgewise while he uses profanity repeatedly regarding my broke down car he doesn't pay for. Finally I respond and let him know that, I am not sure what he wants from me... I was there waiting for my car to be towed, I inform him that I actually don't owe him any sort of explanation. I informed him that if he wished to move on I would gladly find another service, my mom pulls her car next to me because she doesn't know what's happening, I tell her he has some problem and I'm not sure hes taking my car. He said "give me the fucking key, I'll pick it up later" walked up to me aggressively and snatched the fob. So he basically left me no choice but to leave the car anyway. While retrieving my things in the car he walks over to my mom who hasn't said a thing and begins screaming "Your son is pissing me the fuck off" all she could do was sit there. She apologized to this asshole. He continued to hand out parental advice to my mother, while using profanity" When I asked her why she apologizes to this psychopath, she replied... I was already sitting in my car and I was afraid he would try to attack you before I could get out. Finally we left, I am also going to continue discussion with CARMAX and their choice of towing service since the a service advisor at the Mechanicsburg location swears they have never had a problem. I don't ever yelp, but this asshole fucked with me, but very much disrespected my mother and never once did anyone did or say anything to provoke this psychopath. What kind of grown man steps to a woman's vehicle like that and starts screaming. By the way, he made it clear he's the owner, though I never asked to speak to one. By the time we made it to our destination, we found ourselves thinking the authorities should have been contacted and we are glad this guy didn't actually try to harm us. I just keep thinking about how he RAN up waving his hands and belittling my mother because after I had enough of his shit, he decided he would tell her that she needs to "handle me". Big man...
