I haven't been to a FYE in ages. I remember one that I went to up by St. Charles and the one Chicago Ridge used to have. This place is just awesome and had to take the opportunity to walk around in this place. The selection and variety of merchandise that they sell is endless. What I really liked about this place was that it sold wrestling merchandise. I do not regret spending $12 for a box of cereal even though personally the prices are a bit high. They have a fair selection of music, DVDs and other Anime like products to name a few. Definitely would love to come back. read more

I recently bought vinyl from this fye location at woodfield mall and am so disappointed. I bought K-12 by Melanie Martinez and IGOR by Tyler, The Creator. My K-12 vinyl was scratched and skips on almost every song. My IGOR vinyl skips so badly and is so badly warped. I just bought them yesterday and i'm so sad and disappointed about this happening. VINYL HERE IS ALSO SUPER OVER PRICED!! The IGOR vinyl i bought was $36 which could have been bought on amazon for only $26. read more

FYI, I love FYE. I'm a self-proclaimed mega movie nerd and this place is my Shambhala. Sure, they've got a great selection of TV shows, music CDs and Vinyl (both new and used), but their real prize is the plethora of films available for purchase. I had five movies in mind to buy--they had all 5; keep in mind these weren't particularly commonplace titles, either. I successfully found: 1) a Steven Seagal shoot-em-up from the mid 90's 2) a relatively recent Catonese kung fu flick 3) the Pierce Brosnan remake of 'The Thomas Crowne Affair' [rare to find in stores] 4) the 'A-Team' [Liam Neeson version--on sale!] 5) some explosive actioner with Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson [see below] How helpful was the staff? They loaded up IMDB on their iPhones and deduced that my #5 movie in question was 'The Long Kiss Goodnight'. Not only that, but they kindly replaced the case of #3 which got mangled/warped from their shrinkwrap machine. Very courteous and friendly people, here. The only place I've ever found a better selection of inexpensive and/or offbeat DVDs is on the Amazon.com marketplace (and that's kinda like comparing apples and oranges-that-sell-everything-known-to-mankind). I'm rating this store five stars for the simple fact that it reminds me of the brick and mortar experience of finding your favorite CDs and movies, that we don't get to do any longer. Sure, Best buy is still there and sells CDs, but that is a whole different kind of shopping. Fye is reminiscent of the multitudes of records stores we once spent hours at deciding whether or not to spend our lunch money on that new hot single. Alike a Coconut's music store, a dinosaur of the 80's where we once headed right after school to pick up the latest hip hop CDs this store does all it can to represent that era of shopping. A wide selection of most every kind of music including Mexican folk which I didn't think would ever find itself within an American music store. It's like Mexican country music. FYE also carries gimmicky and popular labeled shirts. Who wouldn't want a True Blood tee or Sons of Anarchy logo t-shirt. Whimsical devices for your room, personal space or company desk. For example one of those framed art things with 50 pins which once laid atop something would mimic it's shape. Who wouldn't want that for only $19.99 What else, headphones galore, newest Blu-ray DVDs, after market works with your Apple device products, head bands, stick-able tattoos, etc etc etc. Clearance areas where you can rack up more stuff you don't need but could possible gift to someone. Like a Lord of the Rings card game or True Blood cell phone case. It's worth a look. May not have the deals that Target or Best Buy may carry, but you'll have fun looking around. To complete the experience, high school aged to college drop outs that neither enter or exit greet. They are most awesome at leaving you be. That means, they won't ask if you need help. read more

i don't recommend buying from here, the kpop albums are overpriced, i got a $20 album for $40 the map of the soul version 4 by BTS, and $20 for $30 the love yourself tear album by BTS. I like FYE. I don't love it, but it serves it purpose. I was looking for a couple CDs that my son wanted. I picked up one on sale and their staff located the other for me at their Stratford Square location. While visiting, I also talked with a gentleman on the floor about docking stations. He seemed overwhelmed, but was still nice. Working retail during the holiday season is tough. I'm grateful that I'm not in that industry. Finally, I came across two t-shirts. They were on sale. EEEK stay away from this shady place, or if you do go in, pay cash. When I went up to the cashier, the guy asked me if I wanted to save 15%. I said sure. I thought there was a sale. Then he asked if I wanted a free magazine subscription. To that I told him I would forget to cancel, and didn't want to be charged. He ran the sale, ran my card, and it spit out a separate piece of paperwork indicating that I had joined the FYE BACKSTAGE PASS CLUB. This was the first I had heard of this, and upon inspecting the damn receipt, it turned out that after 30 days, they would charge my card 11.99 a month. When I complained, they said that I could go online, or call the number on the receipt to cancel. SHADY. Great. Yet another thing to remember to do. So I finally got it cancelled today and all is well. But this is some seriously shady retail sales BS. If I was 10 years younger I wouldn't have found out until I got charged. The sales person did not mention I was subscribing to something, and when I told him I didn't want the magazine subscription because I didn't want to have to cancel another thing, he still didn't inform me that I was doing exactly that. Staff seemed helpful, however do try to push certain items at counter. While I don't mind this, asking about 2 or 4 different items is probably a bit much. I always go to this place at least once a week I don't know what Justin W. has been smoking, there are always great sales on CD's. I grew up on tapes and CD's obviously tapes are dead and sad to say that the CD is diminishing, I signed up for their membership program saving me 10% on my purchases I figured I might as well seeing as though I'm always there. I love that this place always has a great selection and always seem to have what I'm looking for even Rap CD's from the 90's. Plus the only place you can show up buy Dexter Seasons (on sale), a cool t-shirt and a good CD to blow out your speakers o the way home. read more
