It has many facets and components but the gist is that its a center for goods to be donated, re-used, up-cycled and turned into art or whatever else you want it to be. If you are a teacher looking for supplies for ur students she's got EVERYTHING (not an exaggeration). I believe teachers get discounts but I'm not entirely sure and even if they don't everything is super cheap. If you are a person who likes to be inspired, check out the space she's got EVERYTHING, books, art supplies, jewelry, jewelry making supplies, stamps, paper, yarn, gadgets and gizmo's aplenty. I have not an artistic fiber in my being but just hanging out there makes me feel like I'm an artist. There are also classes and events, like fill a bag day (for $5 or $6), wine and art classes in the evening on Wednesdays and the one I frequent is the toddler art class on Tuesday (10:00 am-11:30 am). Carly reads a story to the kids- who ADORE her and she them- and then creates a super toddler friendly art project around that story. An example is the time she read an Eric Carlyle book and then led an art project using tissue paper. She gives each child so much loving individual attention and is so easy going. My daughter loves her and loves going to the sharing tree. She does an incredible job of fostering a strong sense of creative, conscious, community in Ole T-Town.

YT had was a sponsor the local public radio station I wanted to try my luck. I found a couple of addresses listed and I tried both. No such luck. What a major disappointment, especially because of all of the positive reviews. Tallahassee needs another locally-owned yarn store. The market is big enough to support two and I sincerely hope someone will take the plunge. The nearest yarn store is 30 miles or so away in Georgia. That's fine if I'm looking for something but obviously not a distance for a sit-and-knit or help on a project. Please, Tallahassee, get another store!!!

I stopped by one day and discussed the many options with the person working in the framing area and decided to go with a custom frame so that both my degree and license could match. The estimated turn-around time was about 3 weeks. On the promised date, I happened to be shopping nearby and decided to call to check on my order. It was ready, however, no one notified me.... -- anyway -- I went in and retrieved my items and was very pleased with the outcome. Going with the custom frame option was a bit pricey, transparently, I paid ~$216 for both my degree and license.

I came in for holiday craft supplies. There were more pre-made items than the crafts I could create. I found one holiday themed circle wood board and that was about it. The kids' holiday crafts is down to a center walk way display. I did manage to locate a few things I could try to make what I was wanting to complete. Now, checkout. The line is long and one person is checking out and answering the phone. This is ridiculous. I saw others on the floor. Why was no one coming to help out?!?!?

They were very reasonable with their prices and came through for us last minute! The shirts are nice quality and our design looks great. The guy on the phone was a bit pessimistic when I told him I had been emailing with someone who said they would do it same day, he said he was doubtful we would get it same day. I'm glad he was wrong and that he wasn't the person I had been working with. I never got that persons name and we only emailed. If I was working with the same person I would definitely do business again!

If you want to browse, you could spend hours here. However if you want something specific -ASK. I had something special I needed for an art project and I could not find it. I had never heard of this store before yet I was thrilled that it was like a major arts and crafts place like the old Carolina Pottery that used to be across the street and in Lake Park. It is like Michael's and JoAnn's thrown together. MAJOR. I always make an effort to come by HL everytime I come to visit my hometown. HL has a wide variety of artificial flowers and plants, much more than Michael's has. They also do carry a huuuuge selection of home and yard decoration, some small furniture pieces. If you need sewing accessories and maybe some fat quarters, HL has a great range of fabric. Got painting skills? They carry canvases, all types of art papers, paint, markers, water colors, etc and everything an artist needs. I am really jealous that Valdosta has a HL cause where I live now (Palm Beach County) does not!!!!!!!! The only complaint I have is sometimes the workers at the register are so enthralled with their phones, texting, and sharing photos off of their phones with other workers while there are customers waiting and waiting in line to check out! I've had to wave down a couple of them while they were "busy" looking at each other's cell phones and saying "awwww that is soooo cute"...... *attn HL manager* please have your workers NOT bring their cell phones with them into the workplace if you want your customers to be happy and if you want to make money! I came in to look at the new Christmas merchandise, and was super dissatisfied with the overall lack of organization. The Lemax Christmas snow village displays were a wreck. A lot of the buildings were damaged and knocked over, as well as none of them being plugged in. Some of those go up to $250, and it is just weird how careless the employees were while sitting them up. Not to mention they should be turned on with how close the holiday is! There are also lots of redneck anti-maksers on the loose in here, because the employees are not enforcing masks or social distancing. Most of the employees I saw had them below their noses as well.
